Chapter 7

*Liams POV*

Why? Why must she be here? There she is, just lying on her lounger giving Zayn the once over. He only wants her because she's hot, and Harry's just scared of her. Jade said something to Zayn and I don't think he liked it, because he gave her The Look. He only gives that look when he doesn't get what he wants.

"Aww, poor dude. Let's go over and save him." Niall started to leave and Lou and Harry follow. They were there for a few minutes and Jade started to look seriously annoyed by them. I could see her hand inching towards her scissors. I thought that I should probably go over to them before she did something that she probably wouldn't regret.

"Guys, we should probably get going. I don't think Jade's in the mood to chat."

"Too damn right I'm not!" She hissed, "I come down here to relax and have a quiet day before I get all dressed up to beat your sorry ass in that singing competition, and here you are bringing your idiotic friends that I don't even know down here and they hit on me." She ranted walking towards me. Jade was now right in my face again and I got an attack of déjà vu.

Half the people around us had stopped to watch the drama unfold. "Jade-" I tried to talk but suddenly this random guy that was in his mid twenties came over.

"Are you alright Miss?" He placed a hand on her shoulder and I felt the flames of jealousy rise up inside me, but they were quickly extinguished as she turned and glared at him. "Get your filthy hands off of me!" As she brandished her scissors that she had finally picked up. The look on this guys face was priceless. He turned and shuffled away, like he couldn't get away fast enough. "Yeah you better run!" Jade yelled after him. I found myself giving a little smirk.

The shock on the faces of the people around us was clear. Harry, Zayn and Louis were just staring after the guy with their mouths dropped open in shock. Niall spluttered and couldn't hold his laughter in any longer. Jade whipped around and pointed her scissors at him. He shut up rather quickly.

"Jade, why don't you um... Maybe kind of... Calm down... Maybe?" Louis sort of questioned, his speech fading as she turned to him.

"I'd rather slam my tongue in a car door." With that, she grabbed all of her stuff then turned and stalked to the lift. The boys audibly let out a sigh of relief.

"Liam, how are you not terrified of her?" Louis whisper-yelled, gesturing after Jade.

"She's creepy!" Niall sort of exclaimed, his Irish accent was made more obvious by how buzzed with adrenaline he was. "And hot!" Zayn smirked, but I could see him shaking. "And mean!" Harry chipped in, determined not to feel left out, but Zayn didn't think he had gotten through. "And hot!" He repeated and yep, still shaking.

We all looked at him like 'Wtf dude' and he just shrugged. I rolled my eyes and saw Jade's book on the lounger. I picked it up and Niall asked what it was, and the others looked interested. "It's called 'The Scissoring'." Sounds interesting. Zayn and Harry thought so too. Niall didn't seem to keen, but he never was one for the horror genre.

"This is actually disgusting." I said, flipping through the pages reading a few paragraphs here and there. It was really graphic. Most of the guys didn't mind horror, but even they looked a bit pale at what they read. Niall was down right nauseated. I guess it says a lot about Jade's personality.

"I better go give this back." I turned to leave and they all followed.

*Jades POV*

I try to relax, and they manage to find me. Do I attract idiots or something?

I was just about to practice my song for the karaoke competition when I heard talking from the hallway. Again, why were the walls so thin?

"I mean, yeah she's terrifying," I smirked "But there's just something about her..." My smirk almost literally fell off my face. I ran to my peep hole.

"Do you want us to sing with you man?" Harry asked, putting his hand on Liam's muscular shoulder. Leading to his muscular arms and hands which- Were holding my book. I rolled my eyes and mentally face palmed myself for being so stupid. And why was I looking at his arms? I mean, yeah he's all attractive and stuff, but I never fuss over a guy no matter how attractive, not even Beck.

The other guys nodded and Louis fist-pumped the air making me smile, as in genuinely smile. That doesn't happen often and it surprised me. I needed to do something, and fast.

I grabbed my phone off the bedside cabinet and speed-dialled Cats number. While I was waiting for her to pick up I did some mental calculations. Cat was staying at her Nona's house in Venice (Italy, not America) which was only about 4 hours away. If it was 9 in the morning now, then she would be here by 1 (well 2 if you count the hour she is allotted before her plane leaves), which would give us 6 hours to talk and get ready.

"Hello?" She picked up the phone.

"Hey Cat, it's me. Listen I-"

"Who are you? Why are you on my Jadey's phone? Why do you sound like-"

"CAT CAT CAT. Stop, it's me."

"Who?" Her voice sounded suspicious. God knows why.

"Jade!" Her stupidity never ceased to amaze me.

"But, how can you be Jade? She's in Wolfyhamton." Now, I love Cat, but damn she's hard work.

"It's Wolverhampton, and just because I'm here doesn't mean I can't use my cell. Now, I need your help."

"Haha it's like when I did my costume design class, and I made that costume I wore to Tori's set."

*flashback*

"You made another costume?" Andre asked.

"Yeah! I'm Cat, international spy! Pew pew pew!" She made a gun with her fingers. Then she looked at us and said "It's not real." and pointed to the remaining finger. As our acting teacher Sikowitz once said, Cat is delightfully filled with joy and stupidity, which could not be more true.

*end of flashback*

I smiled (for the second time in 10 minutes may I add) at the memory. "Yes Cat, it is. Now I need you to listen to me. It's not as important as a spy mission, but it's still fun. There are some boys here-"

"Ooohh"

"Stop it Cat. There's nothing going on! I-"

"Ohhhh, riggghhhtt..."

"Cat! I am not going out with any of these boys!"

"So you're staying in with them?" I could hear the smile in her voice.

"CAT."

"It's ok, I see you girl!"

There's only so long I can be gentle with this child. "If you don't shut up in the next 5 seconds I will murder you and make a necklace out of your ears."

"But-" Here it comes:

"5." I started to count down.

"Oh God!"

"4."

"Don't count!"

"3.

"Ooh I love 3!" Doing a typical Cat, she sounded happy again. I rolled my eyes.

"2."

"Have you heard about the new pearpad 3 with a slightly better screen?" She said all in a rush so that I could barely understand her, but I knew she was just stalling.

"1!"

"Ok, ok I'm listening!"

"Good. No more jokes. As I was saying earlier, there are these boys staying here-" I heard a giggle. "Cat!"

"Sorry, sorry! Continue."

"Right. They're really annoying and there's this karaoke thing here tonight. Will you sing with me?" I didn't need her to, but it would be nice to have some back up.

"I'll have to ask my Nonna, but I hope so!"

"Thanks Cat, you're a life saver! See you in a-"

There was a quiet knock on my door. I sighed. "What's up Jadey?" Cat asked. She's like a puppy sometimes (I know, ironic right?) With her big eyes all innocent and the way she's so curious all the time.

"There's someone at the door."

I walked over too it and opened it roughly. "What do you want? I'm on the phone."

"Hiiiii!!" I heard Cat chime from the other end of the line. I put my hand on my hip. Liam didn't say anything, just handed my book to me. I took it and stood watching him. If he was expecting a thank you, he'd be there for a while. He just shook his head and turned around. Cat spoke to her Nonna and was getting on a plane in about an hour.

******

*Cats POV*

I hope my brother doesn't do anything stupid while I'm gone.. I love my Nonna and she's amazing, but she doesn't know my brother very well. I'm so excited to see Jadey and sing with her, but...

You see, I'm not sure how she's going to react to... This. I looked at the sleeping figure next to me. He'd been doing an acting job that needed to shoot some scenes on location so he'd been staying with me, my Nonna and my brother in Venice.

"Come on you! Time to get off the plane sleepy head!" I said, fluffing the well known hair.

*Jades POV*

Come on Cat! How long does it take to get from the airport to here? There was a noise from outside. "Aww... There's no bell so I can't do my ding-dong bit.. Oh well, I'll do it anyway!" She knocked loudly "DING-DONG!" She called. I smiled and shook my head at my ditzy little friend and walked to the door.

"Hey Cat!" I pulled my best friend into a hug. I closed my eyes and breathed in the familiar sweet cupcake smell that comforted me and made me feel at home. That's the point of best friends, right?

"Hey Jadey! I missed you! You'll never believe what my brother did..." She started rambling on about how her brother had been shot by a clown... I started laughing and opened my eyes. I think I may have burst one of Cats vital organs because she stopped talking and let out a breathy squeak.

"Jadey, I cant breathe!" She managed to force out a couple of words. I let go and stood back. I gritted my teeth.

"Cat. What is that doing here?" Beck ran a hand through his hair giving me an awkward smile.

"Uhhh - Did I mention the clown was my cousin Jessie?" Cat gabbled, giving a pathetic attempt at sidetracking me.

"CATERINA VALENTINE WILL YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN WHAT IS GOING ON?"

*Louis POV*

The guys and I were just laughing and chilling like always when we heard screaming coming from next door. It was Jade and she sounded like she was about to kill someone. We exchanged worried glances.

Liam jumped up and ran to the door, flinging it open and nearly ripping it off it's hinges as we heard a guys voice...

*Jades POV*

"I-um-err..." She stuttered, looking between the two of us. I started yelling at Beck, who retaliated by yelling back. "How could I have thought this would help?" Cat turned back to us. "Come on guys, if you talk about it, you'll get over it then... Who am I kidding?" Then she walked to the armchair and pulled out her pearphone.

*Liams POV*

I walked in to see Jade screaming at some guy with longish hair, him yelling back, and a pretty red headed girl sitting in a corner on her phone, which seemed to be pear shaped...

I walked over to her and cleared my throat awkwardly. "Uhh, hi. I'm Liam. Who are you, who's that, and most importantly, why are he and Jade yelling at each other?" She giggled cutely and the guys walked in behind us. When Niall saw the girl his mouth fell open.

"Hiiii, I'm Cat, Jade's best friend-" The guys and I looked at each other, wondering how someone so sweet could handle someone like Jade. "That's Beck, Jades ex-boyfriend and they're fighting because that's just what they do." Cat blinked with big doe-like eyes the colour of chocolate. "Last night my brother bit my foot."

" Cat, do you think Jade and I fight too much?" She looked at this guy, Beck.

Cat looked like a deer in headlights. "Don't drag Cat into this, you know how sensitive she is!" Cat started to shake, looking between the couple. "Calm down Cat, it's ok. You don't have to answer that." Jade said in a soft voice and pulled the smaller girl in for a hug. I never thought she'd have a soft side...

Cat nodded and curled up on the bed and played on her phone again. Niall went and sat with her, and she blushed.

Jade turned back to Beck. They ignored us completely like we weren't even there. She drew breath. Here we go. I felt like grabbing a bowl of popcorn to enjoy the show.

"Look, I'm done talking about this."

"No, we're not." He said back through gritted teeth.

Jade folded her arms. "You can't force me to talk!" He ran a hand through his hair and tried to calm down.

"This isn't funny."

"No, what's funny is the fact that your freaking out over a dumb game show!" This had to be the strangest sounding argument I think I'd ever heard. Maybe it's a performer thing?

"We were voted the worst couple, and the other two couples weren't even real couples! And one had Robbie in it."

"Why do you care if we were voted worst couple?" Jade seemed genuinely curious.

"Because it's a matter of-" He was interrupted. Cat walked over to them.

"I'm stuck on this level.." She reached into her pocket. "Look I have spoons!" I stepped away from her. I am terrified of spoons. Beck grabbed Cats shoulder.

"Look, we need your opinion on something." This time, Jade didn't try and protect Cat.

"On global warming?" She asked, looking serious.

"What? No-" Beck replied, looking confused.

"Because I don't think that's really happening." Beck put a hand to his forehead in exasperation.

"Cat-"

"Seriously" She said turning to Jade "I went to the movies the other night" She turned back to Beck "And it was so cold!"

"CAT!" Beck said looking frustrated.

"Hi!" Cat started to play with her spoons.

"We need your opinion on us." Beck gestured between Jade and himself.

"Why not just ask a monkey?" Jade retorted. Cat looked excited.

"I saw a movie about a monkey! He wore glasses and carried a gun."

"Don't you think Jade and I fight a lot?"

"Sure." Cat chirped.

"Yeah but- But all boyfriends and girlfriends fight a lot don't they?" Jade fought back.

"Well sometimes but-"

"Yes or no!" Jade raised her voice and Cat squeaked and hid her face.

"Let her talk!" Beck defended her.

"You never listen to me talk!" Jade pointed out. This was serious territory now. I looked to the boys but Harry, Louis and Zayn were watching the argument with avid curiosity and Niall was trying not to stare at Cat.

"Can I go now?" Cat said turning around, but Jade grabbed her arm and shouted no at her, and I was sure the real Jade was back.

"What is your point here anyway?" Jade asked Beck slightly quieter.

"I would like to have a girlfriend I can talk to without it turning into a screaming match!"

"Yeah? Well I'd like a boyfriend other girls don't stare at all the time!" Jade shouted back.

"I only wanted help on my level." Cat said looking between the two.

Now Beck was really annoyed. "How is it my fault girls stare at me?"

"Oh you could look worse if you wanted too!" Jade scoffed and Zayn snickered, earning a death glare from them both. He put his hands up and took a step back. Louis' head was following the action like you would watch a tennis match. Cat started to hyperventilate and put her hands over her ears.

"I'm under my bed, I'm under my bed!" She chanted to herself.

"I can't believe how jealous you get."

"Oh! Oh! So you think I'm ridiculous?" Jade shouted.

"Wh-what? Did I say she was ridiculous?" He questioned, turning to Cat, who shook her head and her breaths came shorter and faster making Niall look seriously worried.

"Cat thinks we're a perfect couple!" Jade exclaimed.

"Cat, are Jade and I a perfect couple?"

"I-"

"Don't answer that!" Jade yelled.

"Answer it!" Beck shouted. Poor Cat.

"Say nothing!"

"Come on!" Beck said to Jade pointing at Cat after finally seeing how worked up she was.

"You come on!"

Cat suddenly collapsed between the two, spoons crashing to the floor around her.

They just stood there and stared at her, then Beck looked at Jade. "We made Cat faint."

Jade stepped over Cat. "I have to go." I could see tears in her eyes, but I think I was the only one who noticed. She opened the door.

"We're going to have to finish this sooner or later!" He called after her.

"Later!" She said without turning around. He rolled his eyes.

"Now you're being ridiculous!" She spun on the spot to face him. She flung her arms out to the side in an exaggerated shrug.

"Why do you care? I'm not your girlfriend anymore!" And with that, she ran off. I got up and ran after her.

******

I still couldn't find her and I'd been searching for ages. I passed a cupboard and then stopped. I heard muffled whimpers coming from inside. I knocked on the door.

"Jade?" I said, tentatively pushing the door open. She looked shocked to see me, and quickly tried to wipe away the black streaks down her cheeks, but only succeeded in making them worse. "What do you want?" She hissed at me sourly. I ignored my instincts to leave her alone and went and sat beside her. She flinched when I touched her arm.

"I only came to see if you were ok. I understand-" She cut me off.

"Understand? Understand?! You will never understand me, you will never understand shit!" She ran out crying. Well done Liam.

*Jades POV*

I settled down in my new hiding place, and started to cry again. I sat in relative peace, wallowing in my own sadness, both at my argument with Beck and at what I said to Liam.

I heard a little knock on the door. "Liam, if that's you I swear to God I'll-"

"I'm not Liam!" I heard the familiar sweet giggle and jumped up and ran into my best friends arms.

"Oh Cat." I whispered and sobbed into her shoulder, she rubbed my hair. We had a long talk with apologies and giggles, then we went back to my room to get ready for the karaoke. There's nothing better than kicking someone's ass to cheer you up.
