Chapter 5

Liam's POV*

I opened the door to see Jade. Her face looked disinterested and she had her arms folded, but her eyes were alight with interest. "Er - Hey, Jade. What can I help you with?" A crease appeared between her eyebrows as confusion replaced the curiosity in her eyes, and her scowl began to deepen. "How do you know my name?" I didn't answer straight away, and it was made apparent very quickly that Jade wasn't happy with that.

She grabbed the collar of my shirt and pushed me backwards, getting in my face even though she was about half a foot smaller than me. "I said, how do you know my name? Who the hell are you? Answer me!" were the last things I heard as I registered the American accent before she pushed me, hard.

"What the hell?" I was finally free from her grasp and just stood there staring at her. Then I noticed for the first time that she was only in a tight tank top and shorts. If I wasn't worried for my own safety, I probably would have seen that earlier. She's obviously crazy. The first time we talk to each other involves yelling and violence. Great first impression right there.

The yelling had stopped, but that did not make her any less scary. Not even a little bit. She stood there, her whole body radiating rage. She was still in my personal space, her eyes throwing daggers at me.

"Look, just relax. I heard your dad talking to you earlier in the lobby. I'm not a stalker, or a weirdo, or a creep who's going to murder you." A smile teased her lips, but it quickly disappeared. She relaxed a little and she was just staring at me now, and I stared back. I took in her appearance. Gone was the black eyeliner, no traces of makeup on her face. Her hair was the colour of a raven, with green-blue highlights that brought out her eyes. She looked younger, more approachable and almost innocent.

There was a sudden ringing coming from my laptop. It made us both jump, and I rushed to answer the incoming skype call, eager to escape. It was Harry.

I answered it whilst trying to block the rest of the room from his view. "Uh, hey Harry, what's up?" My heart was pounding and I felt all flustered. I'm sure I looked it too. If he didn't notice anything, then I think he must have been seriously blind.

"Hey mate, I just wanted to- Are you ok Li? You look a bit..." He moved his hands around, making a fanning gesture and had a panicked look on his face. I guess I did look nervous. I had no idea what to say. I lay down on my stomach on the floor by my laptop.

"I'm fine, really I-" I was cut of by a thud, and a faint 'Oh shit' could be heard drifting from behind me. This just got a lot more difficult.

"You're not alone. Did I interrupt something? Hey guys, Liam's trying it on with some chick!" Shouts and cheers came from our friends who were clearly staying at Harry's. "She must be easy if she'll get with you that easy Li, you've only been there a day!" Jade gasped behind me. "Easy? I'll show them easy. Let's play a little game, shall we?" Jade whispered behind me.

She came over and lay down next to me, making sure that her cleavage was flashed at the camera. "Come on, I'm not going to wait forever." She murmured in my ear, smirking her head off. Harry's jaw dropped, and I was just as shocked as he was, but I knew better than to make Jade look stupid. "I'll be there in a minute... Babe," as Jade shifted her position to give Harry a 'better view', the rest of the guys walked in right on cue, and they noticed how much flesh was on show.

I knew I had pushed it calling her babe, but to my relief she looked at me and she burst out laughing, with me soon following. "You-you should have s-seen your faces!" I said between laughs. Jade calmed down and went back to her usual self. She glared at my friends. "Dude, I am not just 'some chick'. I'm Jade West, and you do not call me easy. Girls like me don't like people like you making assumptions. You mess with me again, and I'll make sure you wake up a woman."

The poor guy looked like he was about to wet himself, nodding away like one of those bobble heads you put in your car, and the rest of the boys still had their mouths hanging open. Zayn was openly staring at her chest. "Eyes up dude," she warned after noticing him, and his head snapped up. "That's better. This is called a face, and it's considered more polite to look at. Now, close your mouths, it's not attractive. Bye boys." Jade waved her fingers at them and flashed them a sweet scarcastic smile, before slamming my laptop closed and sliding it across the floor.

"Since I'm not in the mood to yell at you anymore, I issue a challenge." I raised my eyebrows at her, apprehensive. "I think as payback for... Whatever it was, you should sing that song at the karaoke night tomorrow." My eyes widened in shock.

"I can't, I'm not that good."

"Liam, right? Well listen close because I don't usually do compliments, but I heard that song, and it's pretty good." She shrugged her shoulders. Jade obviously wasn't a complete devil, so I tested my boudaries.

"Oh yeah? And what do you know about music? You're like, the same age as me. What makes you think that your young self knows so much about music?" I thought that I could have possibly caught her out, but not a chance.

"I go to one of the best performing arts schools in Hollywood." She smirked at me, looking smug. Ah. Ok. There goes that idea.

"So if you're so confident and you go to this fabulous school-" Jade shushed me and held up a finger.

"Don't you mock me. If you don't believe me, look it up smartass. It's called Hollywood Arts."

"Fine, I will." I got up and reached my laptop. I googled it and she pointed out the link. Up came the pictures and information about the coolest high school I think I had ever seen.

"So if you go this awesome looking school that's so hard to get into, why don't you sing tomorrow night?" I challenged. She thought for a moment, biting her lip. The fact she had no idea what she was doing to me somehow made it worse.

"Nah, I don't think I want to. I wouldn't want to make you look bad, when I beat you." I looked at her confused. Jade rolled her eyes. "Did you not know it was a competition? It's put to a vote of the audience. You're singing that song even if I have to drag you there myself."

I laughed it off. "Make me look bad? Sure, ok. Anyway, the guys are coming up to see me tomorrow. They would support me over you any day." Jade looked pissed off. Then devious. I don't know which worried me more.

"Are you sure? I wonder what I could wear..." The girl had a point. Seeing how the boys reacted to her earlier, Jade could probably wear a clown costume and have them drooling at her feet.

"Well?" Jade questioned snapping me out of my daydream. She was stood with her hands on her hips and I had no idea what she was talking about. She started to walk towards the door.

"Sorry, what did you say?" I questioned slowly. She sighed and stopped a few feet away from the door. "Are you singing tomorrow or not?" I followed her. "Yes?" I wasn't really sure what she wanted me to say.

"Good boy." she tapped my cheek and finally reached the door. "Bye Liam." She said over her shoulder.

Just before she closed the door she turned around. "Oh and Liam?" I looked up and gave her my full attention. "Good luck."

Oh God, what did I get myself into?
