Chapter 11

*Jades POV*

Cat stood there and stared for a long moment, and then let out a small squeak and ran off. Niall looked up and seemed confused but didn't think about it too much and went back to massaging the sunscreen into my back. I felt the guilt course through my veins, but did nothing. No one else seemed to notice and were all otherwise engaged. I mean, if Anna and Harry got any closer they'd be practically sitting on each other.

"There you go, all done." Niall said brightly as he finished applying my sunscreen. I smiled at him as a way of thanks and then leaned back against him as I tried to enjoy the feeling of revenge as I would have done a few weeks ago.

*Liams POV*

Right, I'm glad all of that was sorted and Cat gave me the heads up. Trust Jade not to mention it. I was lost in thought when I saw Cat running with her red hair streaming out like a banner behind her. She looked frantic so I grabbed her wrist and pulled her to a stop.

She fought against my grip but I held on. She finally looked me in the eye. Her chocolate brown orbs were brimming with tears and her lower lip was trembling.

"Hey, hey, hey! What's wrong Cat?" She looked distraught. She opened her mouth as if to speak but nothing came out except a few squeaks. This was so unlike Cat, I'd never seen her like this before. She was always so bubbly and chatty.

"Come on Cat, you can tell me." I tried to reassure her, but she seemed reluctant to touch me, which was even weirder since she's naturally more of a physical being, showing her love through hugs and gifts.

When she did speak, her voice was all scratchy. "I- Jade, she- Niall-" She burst into tears and pointed in the vague direction of our group. I followed her sloppy gesture and saw what she was talking about. Niall was sat on the lounger with his legs dangling over each side with Jade sat between them and leaning against his chest. He leaned forward and whispered something in her ear. Whatever it was it made her laugh and slap his leg.

I let in a sharp intake of breath and tried to breathe deeply and keep calm for Cat's sake. Me getting angry wasn't going to help anybody. "Ok Cat, why don't you go back to your room, clean yourself up a bit and then come back down when you're ready." She opened her mouth. "I'll talk to Jade. Now go make yourself happy and Cat-like again!" She let out a small giggle and ran towards the lifts.

Now I let the happy act evaporate and I stormed over to Jade. "Jade. Can I please talk to you for a minute? Alone." I spoke through gritted teeth and added the last bit pointedly. Everyone looked at me funny. I'm the calm one I guess, but seeing how Jade could so easily hurt people made me forget myself. It wasn't just my own jealousy, we all knew that Cat liked Niall. It was as clear as day. How she could do that to someone she loves I don't know.

"Hmmm... No, I think I'm quite comfortable here thanks." She nestled back into Niall. I took a deep breath. I knew she was being difficult on purpose, I just didn't know why. I may not know her well, but I knew her well enough to see that this calmness was just an act and that she was absolutely fuming, the anger is bubbling away just under the surface where people couldn't see it. I could tell by the look in her eyes.

"Jade, now." She glared at me defiantly and tilted her head up.

"Make me." The whole group made 'Ooohh' noises like a bunch of infants. If she wanted to play it that way, then that's what we'd do. She thought that she knew me, kind and gentle. Jde had never seen me angry, she didn't suspect a thing.

"Fine." I walked over and grabbed her wrist and yanked her up and away from Niall roughly, earning a bunch of "Liam!" and "What the hell are you doing?" from my friends. Jade was shocked and almost fell over, but I held her upright and pulled her to a quiet corner.

"Kidnapper." Was all she said in her rich American accented voice, with the tone of a small child. She crossed her arms and looked all sulky, glaring at me.

"What in the God's name do you think you're playing at?" She whisper-yelled.

"I might ask you the same question Jade. I leave to go to the bathroom and you're all friendly and messing with Cat, and then I come back and run into her and she's crying and see you all over Niall! I mean, where did that come from?" She looked affronted.

"Oh yeah, poor little Cat! And I was hardly all over him. Trust me, you'd know about it if I wanted to be all over him. I have no problems with public displays of affection." She spat at me. I raised my eyebrows at her. "Look, all I know is you both go missing, and then I look over and see her hugging and kissing my-" Jade stopped abruptly.

"Hugging and kissing your what Jade?" She doesn't answer and a light flush starts to creep across her cheeks. I realize what she was about to say and my eyes widen. I start to speak but when I open my mouth Jade cuts me off. "Just forget it."

"So, you see Cat hugging me and kissing me on the cheek, may I add, and you suddenly go and flirt with the guy she likes? Are you jealous Jade?" Her jaw dropped to the floor.

"Ohh, yeahh, I'm so jealous. And she obviously likes him loads if she's going to go off and kiss someone else!"

I had had just about enough of this. "On the cheek, Jade, she kissed me on the cheek!" She crossed her arms and I suddenly couldn't take it anymore. I know I promised Cat that I wouldn't say anything and I would keep it a secret but I couldn't help myself. "Ok, you really want to know what Cat and I were doing? You really want to know?" She tilted her head to the side and gave a small nod.

"She was telling me about about your birthday and wanted me to help her throw you a party. She was being a good friend and wanted to do something nice for you."
