Chapter 17

*Cats POV*

"But unicorns are real!" I shouted in frustration. I was researching where I could buy a unicorn online, but every article says they don't exist! I don't know where these people come from, but it's definitely not the real world. I picked up Mr Purple my stuffed giraffe and threw him at the door, just as Niall opened it. My hand flew to my mouth.

"Woah! What's with the flying giraffe?" I giggled and walked over to pick up Mr Purple. Niall was now inside and Jade was behind him. "Sorry, I'm just angry because people are trying to convince everyone that unicorns are make-believe but I know they're real! They do exist!" I stomped my foot and a frown appeared. I also pulled that face that Jade hates, where I put my bottom teeth over my top lip.

"Okay, okay, Cat, we believe you, but we need your help." My frown disappeared and a grin replaced it. I loved helping people, but for some reason people never came to me for help or advice, and I don't know why... "How can I help?"

Jade sat on the bed and Niall followed suit. They told me their problem. You know how Liam wouldn't let them explain and just assumed the worst. "You know I love you guys, but I can kind of see where Liam's coming from." Jade raised her eyebrows and gave me a warning glare but I had my answer to this perfected. "Little bit." I say it in a reasonable voice slightly lower than usual and make a small gap between my thumb and my index finger. Still not quite sure why people call it that. An index of what? Anyway, not too pushy (which would make Jade explode like Trina's too-tight pants) but not going against what I previously said (which she hates, therefore also making her explode).

Niall quickly walked over from the bed to the chair I was sitting on. He took both my small hands which were placed in my lap in his larger ones. "Please Cat, just help us. We really need it. You can think what you like, but it won't do any harm just to try and help Liam see the truth, will it?" I pretended to think about it for a moment, even though I had already made up my mind. How could I not help when I saw the pleading face and then the sweetness of his big blue eyes won me over.

"Okay! But there will be one thing I need to do that you probably, and by that mean definitely won't like..."

"Wha-aat?" Jade groaned, but Niall just closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "What is it Cat?" I closed my eyes and prepared for Jade's rampage.

"I'm going to need to tell him why. How it couldn't be possible." They both looked confused, and then a look of horror passed over Jade's face. "No. No." she pointed her finger at me, "No." Niall frowned and was still confused. "So, can you guys let me in the loop or...." He trailed of. Jade gave him a pointed look. "Are you really that dull?" With a completely straight face he shook his head, and then smirked at the confused look on her face.

"No. I just wanted to hear you say it again." She scowled at him. "Go on say it! I love Liam! I love Liam!"

"You do?" I was torn between being upset and confused. Niall looked at me with a smile and a shake of the head. "No I don't love Liam, I was pretending to be Jade."

"Oh! I get it now." I let out a little giggle. I then changed moods the way only I can and went all serious, "But I will need to tell him." Jade opened her mouth. "I think she's right Jade. He deserves to know, even if he doesn't specifically have to know."

"Ugh fine," She flopped onto the bed with a scowl on her face and her arms crossed against her chest. I laughed at her. They both looked at me weirdly, but I couldn't stop. "What's going on with her?" Niall asked, pointing his thumb towards me. Jade just shrugged her shoulders. I guess she's used to his by now. Anyway, I need to think of a way to fix this, so we can get Liamade back on track, and maybe, possibly... Ciall?

"And now she looks like she kicked a puppy." My eyes widened. "I did? When? Where? I didn't mean to kick a puppy!" And then I burst into tears.

******

Okay, I'm in Liam's room doing last minute plans for Jadey's party tomorrow. I thought I was too upset to come earlier, but Jade calmed me down just about long enough for Niall to explain it was just an expression. I was fine after that.

"So what do you think?" What? What was he saying? "Hm?" He playfully rolled his eyes at me and repeated himself. "I said, what do you think about the coffee flavoured chocolate fountain? And none coffee of course." I flashed him my dimpled smile and nodded my head up and down so hard I felt dizzy, and then giggled until the room stopped spinning.

Liam writing was slowing down, and I knew I couldn't stall much longer. I had to tell him. "Umm... Liam?" He looked up and I looked down at my lap and started fiddling with a piece of black ribbon from the decoration box. "I have something I need to tell you.." A little frown line appeared between his eyebrows. I could see why Jadey liked him, he was adorable. "It's about Jade and Niall-" He let out a loud sigh.

"Look Cat, I already know about those two-" I was desperate, and I started to get frantic. "No, no! You don't understand! They-" Liam started to look cross. "Cat. I get that they're together. I can't think of one thing that proves otherwise."

"I have evidence." He put a hand to his head. "Listen. I know how you feel about Niall and everything-" I opened my mouth in offense. "This has nothing to do with me and Niall! You want evidence, and I have it, but if you're not going to listen then fine. I won't help you or speak to you ever ever again!" I stood up and Liam spoke again. "I don't have any 'evidence' yet, but we still have a lot of planning to do for tomorrow and-"

"Don't you get it? Jade likes you! She just doesn't know how to show it!" And with that, I walked out, slamming the door behind me.
