                           ELENA SIGHED AND RESTED her head on olivia's shoulder as she stared down at her phone. jude had been active in the past twenty minutes, yet he was leaving her on delivered. elena  knew that this was definitely karma for her putting off their conversation for so long because of a silly little thing called overthinking.

"you just have to wait now," lottie explained, and elena lifted her head from olivia's shoulder.

emily, lottie, olivia, daniela, chloe,... and trent were around at elena's house for a last minute sleepover. they were here to help her calm down and push her into talking to jude. none of them wanted to leave elena alone when the media had a lot of shit to say about her and this situation, and leaving someone like her lost in their thoughts was not a good idea whatsoever.

her overthinking didn't come out often, and it was only really bad a few years ago when she tended to let her anxiety get the better of her. but the media always brought out elena's bad side, and watching them drag jude and their relationship into it made her go mental.

she hasn't acted like this in a long time; she hated this side of her. her ugly side, she referred to it as. such a confident and talented girl letting all of her childhood insecurities take over. this typically was the side of elena she didn't want any boy to see, it was the main reason why she was putting off her conversation with jude for so long.

elena was afraid that jude would pull away when he met the version of her that she didn't allow any boy — apart from her father — witness.

little did she know just how much jude loved her, and that no matter how she was feeling or acting, there was nothing in this entire world that could ever pull him away from her.

"i'm so stupid," elena mumbled, rubbing her hand along her face. "i never get like this. i'm usually so confident and peoples words never get to me... but fuck, i'm like a different person when people start toying about with my relationship. especially the media. it's just... frustrating."

"we get that, we truly do," daniela nodded, taking a small sip of her hot chocolate and smacking trent's hand away when he attempted to have one of his own. "but you really should have messaged him sooner."

"i know," she admitted. "i just- my dad and i have always hated how the media depicts us. i've never really bothered about them this much before. but having them out there and trying to ruin the best thing that's ever happened to me... my mind just went blank."

lottie frowned and softly rubbed elena's back. "you haven't been like that for a long time."

"i feel like we're missing something here," chloe leant over to whisper towards trent and daniela, causing them to nod their heads at her.

emily took one look at elena before she sighed and started pacing up and down the room. "now listen, don't get me wrong i hate jude. and by hate i mean hate. and by that i mean i'd probably laugh if i saw him jump off of a cliff-"

"-we get the point!" trent interrupted her, the girls nodding to his words as they all urged for emily to continue on with her rant.

"sorry," she dismissively waved her hand, turning back to elena. "and i know how panicked you get when it comes to the media. but in all honestly, as your best friend i'm legally allowed to say this, but you've fucked up. you should've told jude the truth as soon as the article dropped."

"it was so out of character for me to stress and act like that," elena said with a shake of her head.

"paparazzi does that to us, babe," daniela grinned, pointedly looking at the man next to her who tried his best to make himself look busy. "and they also make us say horrible shit about people before we know the full truth." 

"shots fired," laughed chloe.

"jude's saying shit about me?" elena frowned. 

"what? no!" daniela panicked. "i was just using that as a moment to call trent out for something he said about me. jude has not talked shit about you, and if he does we'll just get emily on him."

olivia side-eyed her. "not helping."

"well i was just on call with jobe and-"

"-you were on call with jobe?" trent interrupted emily with a teasing smile on his face, wiggling his eyebrows up and down at her as everyone stifled a giggle at his question, smirking at the girl.

"shut up!" emily snapped, throwing a shoe at him before turning her attention back to elena. "what i was gonna say before i was rudely interrupted," she made sure to cast a look at trent, who stuck out his tongue at her. "is that i was on call with jobe and he said jude knew it wasn't what it looked like, but he was really just up in his room. oh! jobe also said he heard jude say something about texting lando. but that was it really..."

"he texted lando?!" lottie widened her eyes.

"my guy!" laughed trent, causing chloe to scrunch her face up at him in disgust.

"i hate the paparazzi!" elena sighed loudly, putting her face in her hands as olivia wrapped her into a warm hug.

"don't we all," agreed lottie.

"this'll all be figured out tomorrow," daniela said, smiling softly. "just rest on it now, maybe post on instagram to show that you don't give a shit what haters are making up about you, and give jude his space until he's ready to talk, yeah?" 

"you're so mother friend coded," emily awed and widened her eyes in amazement, giggling as dani  ruffled her hair up.

"it's literally four in the morning, i think we're past going to sleep," elena pointed out, wiping her eyes, thanking emily as she threw her a tissue. 

it was dead silent for a moment until trent opened his mouth and suggested something that had all of the girls (minus chloe, as the teenager didn't really do emotions) squealing in excitement.
