The air was still awfully hot, but in the car it was slightly better. Newt sat in shotgun, next to Jorge who drove, while Fry, Minho, Thomas, and I sat in the middle and Teresa and Brenda sat in the back.

I looked out the window, the earth was scorched, but still beautiful. Minho gave out some chuckles from under me because Bertha didn't have enough seats, so I sat on him. He scowled at Newt and I laughed.

"Hey! Don't be rude to, Newt!" I said, playfully hitting Minho's arm.

"Yeah, don't be rude to me!" Newt added.

"Alright, I'm sorry... Newtie..." Minho said through laughs. 

We all grew into a laughing fit as Newt's face began to redden. Bertha slowly stopped to a halt as we made our way to a large valley. Dusty cars lined up, all looking like they hadn't been touched in years.

"Well, I guess we're on foot now" Jorge muttered as he got out of the car.

As soon as our feet touched the floor, a rain of bullets dropped down by us, all hitting hoods of cars, making us sprint.

"Get down! Take cover!" Jorge yelled at us.

"Come on, Y/N!" Newt yelled as he grabbed my hand and ran behind a truck.

My heart raced and my hand was still intertwined with Newts. I turned my head back, peeking over the truck to get a view of everyone else.

"Everyone okay out there?" Jorge yelled out to us. A chorus of 'yeahs' were heard from the others.

"Anyone know where those bloody shots came from?" Newt asked the rest of them.

I heard Jorge mutter something about Marcus to Thomas. Something about him being a 'son of a bitch' and leading us into an ambush. 

I stood up a little, seeing if everything was safe. Only for Newt to drag me back down as shots fired over my head.

"Holy shuck" I muttered.

"Everybody! Get ready to sprint back to the truck! And be sure to hold your ears!" Jorge shouted to us. I looked at Newt, wondering what the man had in mind.

"One! Two..."

"Drop it!" A woman's voice yelled. "Now! I said drop it!"

I heard something being dropped to the ground quickly. 

"All of you! Come out now!" She commanded us.

We all quickly shuffled out of our hiding spots, our hands up in the air as surrender. 

"Aris?" A new girl asked. She had platinum blonde hair and a bandana covering half of her face. 

I looked at Aris skeptically, and then at the two girls who held up guns at us. The one with dark hair removed her mask, revealing a rather pretty girl. The blonde one did too, and she was also pretty.

"Oh my god, Harriet?" Aris exclaimed as he ran into them, smashing her into a large hug.

The blonde girl walked up to them, looking at Aris closer.

"Sonya-?" Aris asked.

"Aris! You're lucky we didn't shoot your dumbass!" She said to the boy cheerfully as she also hugged her.

"What..?" I questioned.

"We were in the maze together!" Aris said happily.

"Oh right" Sonya said aloud. "We're clear guys! You can come out!" 

A group of guards dressed in black made their way out of their hiding spots in the canyon.

"We're taking them to base!" Harriest said excitedly.

"Wait. So how did you guys get here?" Aris asked the two girls.

"The Right Arm got us out!" Sonya replied.

"Wait... the Right Arm? You guys know where they are?" Thomas asked.

"Hop in" Harriet said to us with a smile as she opened up a truck door. 

I looked at the others skeptically before hopping into the truck.

"Wait Y/N!" Newt said as he tried to grab me.

"Come on! I trust them!" I said to the group. 

They all followed in after me. The car ride was around an hour, but most of us just slept through it. I didn't even notice myself falling asleep.

"Hey, Love, we're here" A british voice said to me as they shook me slightly.

I looked around the van to see only Newt and I in the car.

"The others are already outside" He said with a soft smile.

I nodded as I got up, opening the vans door. Newt still stayed put in the car.

"Well are you coming or not?" I asked with a smile as I held my hand out to him.

I noticed he was in a trance, but as soon as I finished my sentence, his gaze met up to mine.

"Oh yeah" He replied as he took my hand.

We walked to the rest of the group as we met them at the camp base. Large tents surrounded the whole dusty mountain and there were people, happy with their lives.

"You guys are lucky you found us when you did! We're moving at first light tomorrow!" Sonya said to us.

"Where's Vince?" Harriet asked a man.

"Somewhere over there" They said as they pointed their hand in a direction.

"Who's Vince?" I asked.

"He's the one that gets to decide if you stay" Harriet explained.

"But, I thought the Right Arm was supposed to be an Army?" Thomas questioned.

"Yeah, we were... This is all that's left of us. Lot's of good people have died, getting us this far" A man's voice said to our group. He had longish blond hair that was tied in a half up ponytail.

"Who are they?" He asked Harriet. I assumed him to be Vince.

"They're Immunes. Caught 'em coming up the mountain" Harriet explained.

"Well, did you atleast check them?" Vince asked.

"I know this guy, Aris. I trust them" Harriet said as she placed her hand on Vince. 

Before I knew it, a body collapsed form behind me on the floor. Shuck.

"Brenda!" I called out as my hand dropped from Newt's.

"What's going on?" Vince asked as he tried to get a better view of the girl.

"Brenda! Brenda! Talk to me!" Jorge said to the girl as he put her on his lap, shaking her.

"I-I'm sorry... I'm sorry" She mumbled

"What's going on with her?" Vince asked as he made his way closer to the girl.

A man walked over to the girl, noticing the bandage on her leg. He quickly rolled up her leg slightly and ripped off the gauze from her leg, revealing a Crank bite...

"Shuck.." I mumbled to myself.

"Shit! Crank! We got a Crank!" Vince yelled as he grabbed his gun from his belt, cocking it and pointing it at the girl. 

I quickly rushed infront of the helpless girl, putting my body infront so he would shoot me instead of her.

"No! No! Wait! Wait!" I exclaimed.

"Step back!" Vince yelled at me.

"Listen! Please! This just happened! She's not dangerous yet! Please don't shoot" I pleaded.

"You shouldn't have brought her here!" He argued with me as his voice grew angrier.

"I know-" I begun.

"We let Cranks in her now, and the Safe Haven won't last a week!" Vince yelled.

"Just listen please? I told her that you could help her! There has to be something  you could do!" I argued with the man.

"Yeah there is..." He said, pausing. "I can put her out of her misery!" 

He pointed his gun at her yet again as I shielded her with my body.

"Fine, shoot me then!" I shouted.

"Vince! That's enough! Let her go!" A woman's voice said from behind him.

"She's infected, Mary" he said with a loud sigh. "There's nothing we can do for her" 

"We can't, but she can" Mary said as she pointed towards me.

"What? You know me?" I questioned. What did she mean?

"Interesting. Makes sense they put you in the maze after what you did. I'm more surprised that they didn't kill you though..."

"What I did?" I asked.

"The first time you spoke you were talking about Newt, and how you couldn't keep letting him suffer. The last time we spoke you gave us the coordinates of every Wicked compound, trails and labs!" She explained.

"She was our source..." Vince's voice said aloud.

"We couldn't have pulled all of this off without her" Mary said with a warm smile. "Take her to the tent!" She ordered the other men as they took Brenda's body away towards a tent. 

"Make sure you get them some warm clothes too!" Mary added. "Oh, and Y/N, I need to get some blood from you" She motioned for me to follow her. 

I began walking towards her before a hand stopped me.

"Y/N, are you sure it's okay to go with her?" Newt asked me as I turned around to face him.

"Yes, I'll be fine, go get some warm clothes on, I'll see you later" I said to him, giving him a hug.

I walked over to the tent, seeing Brenda lay almost unconscious on a cot, Mary had other supplies set up. Why did she need me?
