chapter 17 || our escape

They escorted us to our rooms, the boys had one, and the girls had one. They were right across from each other.

"Oh my god, this is heaven" Teresa said as her body hit the mattress. I laughed before doing the same.

"How do you think the boys are doing?" I asked her as we both stared at the ceiling.

"I think they're running around butt naked like wild animals" She chuckled.

The room got quiet, as we both drifted off to sleep.

"Teresa?" I muttered as my eyes fluttered open. Someone had grabbed my arm.

I opened my eyes quickly as I looked around the surroundings. Teresa had a hand over her mouth to muffle her words, but she looked at me with terror.

"Let me go!" I screamed as I squirmed in the persons arms.

"Shh, stop moving, you'll be okay" The voice said to me.

They quickly rushed us to the medical clinic.

"Dr. Crawford, here are subjects A1 and A14" The man who held onto my arm said as he dragged me towards the woman.

"Good evening you two, just sit on your cots, we'll be with you shortly." She said, giving us a small smile.

We lay on the cots, staring at the ceiling that shown a bright white light.

"Okay, this will only hurt a bit" Dr. Crawford's voice said to me as she showed me a syringe. I nodded allowing her to put the liquid into my body.

A slight light headedness began to flow through my head as my eyes began to close. My surroundings blurred around me before everything went completely pitch black.

- - - -

"Change into these please, we're moving you guys to the medical wing you guys were in before" A voice said to me as they shook me awake. I nodded, barely opening my eyes as I took a pair of yoga pants and a white tank top.

We walked around the halls, guards standing behind and infront of us. I peered into the room that was to our left. The cafeteria? When was the last time I ate? Are we seeing the boys?  I looked at Teresa in shock, wondering if she was seeing the same thing too. I made eye contact with Newt, before the guard pushed me ahead, making my head snap to the front.

"Wait! Y/N! Teresa!" I heard from the cafeteria. I wanted to turn back to look around, but I couldn't. The guards kept making us walk to the medical wing, not allowing us to look back.

I heard a commotion of shouts from the room. What were the boys getting themselves into at the moment?

They wired the two of us up to tubes, pushing needles into our skin, and making us go straight to sleep yet again.

My mom carried me through the crowd of what looked to be other parents. All of them surrounding a large building. Some crying, some wearing masks, and some still with their children.

"I'm sorry" She whispered to me, tears slowly streaming down her face. I don't know why she's crying.

"It's okay mom" I say, giving her a soft smile.

"You'll be okay, be brave and be strong for me, Love" She said to me, placing me on my feet and staring into my eyes.

"I will be." I replied.

"Good... I'm sorry, Y/N... I really am" She choked out.

"A hand grabbed onto my torso, swinging me over their shoulder.

"Mom!" I yelled at her as she knelt to the floor.

"Y/N! I love you, be strong for mommy" She shouted back.

Tears began streaming down my face as my visioned blurred.

They threw me into a train cart with two other guards, a blonde headed girl and boy, a brunette boy, and a woman wearing a white suit with bright red lipstick. All of the kids seemed shaken up, but we all sat quietly in the cart.

"Where are they! Where are they!" I heard a voice boom around me.

My eyes opened, adjusting to the bright searing white light. The curtains around me were still drawn closed but I could hear shuffling feet and Teresa and Thomas talking. Wait Thomas?

"Where's Y/N?" I heard a british voice ask.

"The curtain next to mine, just open it" Teresa said, obviously weakened by the stuff they injected us with.

They quickly threw open the curtain, exposing me. Needles were still in my body.

"Oh my god, Y/N!" Newt exclaimed, quickly running over to me as he began taking the needles out of my arm. I quickly got up.

"What did they do to you?" Newt asked me checking me up and down before bringing me into a hug.

"Nothing, nothing... I don't know" I replied.

"What's going on?" Teresa and I asked at the same time.

"We gotta leave right now!" Newt shouted.

"Come on!" Thomas yelled as we all followed his lead into a room.

Shuck we were trapped. The room had a thick glass on the other side that encased us in. The boys had guarded the door, throwing a couple shelves infront of it.

"Guys? They're coming what do we do?" Fry asked urgently.

"Fry, move!" Thomas shouted, moving the boy. He began banging at the glass with a stool, Newt pushing me back behind him so I wouldn't get hurt.

"Everyone stand back!" Thomas shouted again, still thrashing at the window.

"Newt! Come on! Help!" Thomas yelled at the blond. He quickly grabbed an identical stool.

"Ready?" Thomas asked. Newt gave him a quick nod before they both threw the stools at the glass, shattering it into pieces.

"Watch your feet!" Newt yelled at me and Teresa.

Teresa and I quickly rushed over to the cot that lay on the other side of the room, grabbing the sheets and blankets to make a safe spot for us to climb over the pieces of shattered glass on the floor and sill.

"Hurry let's go!" Thomas shouted as we ran through the hallways. We made it to the end of one that had a large door, identical to the one that was at the WICKED facility in the maze.

Another set up footsteps were heard from behind us, but none of us dared to look back. Shots were being shot over out heads.

Thomas grabbed a gun from Minho that I didn't even realize he had in his possession.

"Stay behind me!" Thomas ordered. We all did as we were told, running to the door.

Minho grabbed a card from inside his pocket, quickly swiping it through the ID scanner.

"Shit! Come on!" Minho shouted as he continued to swipe the card.

"Thomas!" A voice boomed. I turned my attention to Thomas who still had the gun in hand, shooting it at officers.

"Open this door, Janson!" Thomas yelled at the rat looking man.

"You really don't want me to" Janson said, his hands in the air as surrender.

"Open the damn door!" I shouted from across the hall. Janson turned his attention to me. A smile plastered onto his face.

"Listen! I'm trying to save your lives. The maze is one thing, but your wouldn't last a day out in the Scorch! If the elements don't kill you, the cranks most definitely will!" He said to us. "Come on, Thomas, you have to believe me."

"Yeah, let me guess. Wicked is good?" Thomas said sarcastically.

"You're not getting through that door!" Janson yelled at us.

"Hey guys" A voice said exhaustedly from behind me. I turned my head to see a boy with bright blue eyes and Winston.

The boy in my dream?
