chapter 14 ||seriously?

"Don't be rough or hurt her" I heard Newt whisper to Jeff as the med-jack grabbed my arm. Yanking me slightly out of the pit.

"I'll try, can't keep any promises with Gally around though. Sorry if I do hurt you though, Y/N" Jeff said, giving me a slight pat on the back. I nodded grimly.

Thomas was yanked as he lay "unconscious". A couple of the boys holding onto his arms.

"This is such a waste" Gally snarled as we were being dragged across the Glade.

"Gally... It doesn't feel right man" Jeff said, speaking up as he handed me off to a different boy. They tightened the ropes around my arms, making me gasp as I could feel it cutting into my skin.

"Hey! Be careful with her!" I heard Newt yell from behind. The boy only scoffed as he finished tying my wrists against the pole.

"Yeah, what if Thomas is right? Maybe he can lead us home" Fry spoke up.

"We are home." Gally said sternly.

"This is nowhere near home" I spat back at the boy.

"Look, I don't want to have to cross anymore names off that wall" Gally added, trying to reason with us. But failing.

"So? Banishing us isn't going to solve a thing" I stated.

"No, but this isn't a banishing. It's an offering" The boy said, a smile growing slowly on his face.

"I used to wonder if Gally was psychotic. Now I know the answer" Minho said from behind me, a grunt coming out of his mouth as I heard Newt scold the boy.

The others were still attempting to get Thomas on the pole, but his limp body wasn't helping.

"Wait what?" I shouted, squirming in the ropes, making blood drip from my arms even more.

"Gally, what are you doing?" Newt asked, concern lacing his voice.

"You think I'm gonna let Thomas back into the maze after what he has done?Look around! Look at our Glade! This is the only way. And when they  get what they came here for... everything goes back to the way it was." He said, a slight glisten in his eyes.

What in the hell was he thinking? He couldn't just banish us, right?

"Are you listening to this bull shit?" I asked, Newt coughing behind me "Language".

Suddenly, Thomas sprints back to his usual self, knocking his head against the poor boy who was attempting to tie him up.

"Let me out!" I yelled as Minho came over to me, a dagger in his hand. "Don't you shucking dare slice my arms Minho, I swear to god" I muttered as he brought the knife closer to my arms.

"I won't don't worry, you can trust me" He said, a smile plastered on his face.

"That's the dumbest klunk I've heard today" I said, smiling back.

He quickly let me out of the ropes, pulling me over to the group of them that stood in a semi circle around the entrance of the maze.

"You're just full of surprises, Greenie, aren't you?" Gally sneered at us. A couple of us had spears, while the rest had daggers. Newt handed me a dagger, holding it in my hands too.

"Look, you don't have to come with us, but we're leaving. Anyone that wants to come with us, now is your last chance" Thomas said back, holding out his spear infront of him.

The boys around the Glade all looked at each other. All giving one another questionable looks.

"Please, come with us. You'll get a new life out of the Glade. We'd get proper care" I said, smiling at them all.

Out of the corner of my eyrs, I see Fry, Winston, and Jeff all considering my comments. They slowly walk up, getting a glare from Gally.

"Don't listen to them. They're just trying to scare you" Gally ordered.

"Gally! Don't you see? We aren't trying to scare you or anyone here. We're scared too! I'm scared out of my mind, but I rather risk my life out in the maze than dying in this klunk hole" I shouted, tears brimming my eyes. "We don't belong here... this isn't our home" My voice cracked.

I could see the gears shifting in his head as he processed what I had said. A moment of silence grew over all of us.

"We were put here against our will... we were trapped. Atleast out there, we have a choice" Thomas added.

"I'm sorry, Gally. It's over, just come with us... please" I pleaded to the boy.

"Good luck against the Grievers" Was the last thing I heard Gally say.

I stared at the boy as my mouth fell open. He wanted to stay? Still? I felt a hand brush over my shoulder, quickly realizing it was Newts.

"Come on, Love, we don't want to be out in the maze at night" The blond whispered in my ear. I nodded slowly, walking with them towards the gates. He held his hand on my lower back protectively.

Turning around, Gally kept his gaze on me. Our eyes making contact before I saw a single tear roll from his eye.

No matter how much I hated Gally, he had his moments where he was nice to me. At my worst times, he could brighten up the moment. It felt weird leaving the boy behind. He was also one of the first people in the Glade.

As we all walked into the maze, I felt the eerie feeling coming back to me. The vines on the wall still hung on the walls. Our feet made slight tapping noises as they touched the cement floor. The sound of only our breathing broke the silence. We had to beat the sun before it set.

"Everybody, this way!" Thomas shouted towards the side as we followed his pace, running right behind him.

I noticed Newt falling behind slightly, so I slowed my pace to not leave him behind.

"You don't have to wait for me" Newt said, out of breath.

"No, it's fine. I don't mind" I responded, the group seemed to have slowed to a spot infront of us.

"How are your arms doing?" He asked me.

"They're fine." I responded simply.

Thomas peered over the wall, looking at the entrance of our way out.

"Is it a Griever?" Chuck asked nervously.

"Yeah..." Thomas said, thinking about our next steps.

"Shit" I mumbled.

"Language, Y/N..." Newt said to me sternly. I glared at the blond in response.

"Here, Chuck, take this alright? It's going to be okay" Thomas reassured.

"Just stick with us" I said to the young boy, a smile growing on my face as I motioned him towards me and Teresa.

He nodded nervously, putting a strong grip on the key for the door.

"Once we're through, it will activate and the door will open. We stay close, we stick together... we get out now, or we die trying" Thomas said to the group of us. We all nodded, scared for our lives. The anxiety rose, but I could only be scared for Newt and Chuck.

"So motivational, Thomas. We should put that in a book" Minho muttered sarcastically. He got an annoyed glance from Thomas, but they let out a battle cry of some sort. Telling us that it was time to run for our lives.

Teresa, Chuck, and I all ran behind the group as they fought through the group of Grievers. Me and Teresa making sure Chuck stayed in view as we ran through the corridor. Chuck fumbled with the Key, dropping it to the floor as it rolled away.

"Chuck!" I screamed as the boy ran after the key.

"Come back here!" Teresa yelled right after as we sprinted towards the boy.

He landed on his stomach, inches from his full body falling off the platform.

"Chuck, we've got you!" I said as we grabbed his ankles to pull his body up. We finally got him up, him also holding onto the Key with all his might.

As we made our way to the circular door, we brung the key up to the locked entrance. It shown with a bright color of red and purple.

"Thomas! Thomas!" Teresa shouted at the brunette as he fought off a Griever that had jumped down on them. It let out an ear splitting screech as it was rolling off the side of the cliff. "Theres a code! 8 numbers!"

"Hey, Minho! Whats the sequence?" The brunette asked the asian boy.

"What?" Minho asked, fighting off a Griever that inched closer to him.

"The sections of the maze! What's the sequence?" Thomas shouted.

"Seven!" Minho yelled.

I pressed the number 7 on the circular key pad.

"One!"

All of them were cornering a Griever.

"Five! Two! Six! Four!" He yelled quickly as I rushed through the code.

The boy stopped shouting out the sequence and the screams got louder. I stepped out from the awning of the door, walking out to see the commotion.

"Heads up!" Thomas yelped as a Griever mounted onto Minho, pinning him to the floor.

"Minho!" I shouted, walking closer to the group of them.

"Y/N! Get back to Teresa and Chuck! This isn't safe!" Newt shouted to me. I ignored his protests for me going back to the others.

"Get off me!" Minho screamed, pushing the Griever off of him.

The animatronic animal moved it's attention to Jeff, grabbing the boy and flinging him off the platform.

"Jeff! No!" I shouted as the boy fell to his death. One of the closest people I've met in the Glade. The one that taught me everything I knew about being a med-jack.

"What's the sequence?!" Teresa urgently yelled at us, bringing our attention to the exit of the maze.

"Six! Four! Uh, Eight! Three!" Minho said, finishing the whole code.

"Keep holding them back!" I ordered the boys. Running over to help Chuck and Teresa.

"The door opened! Come on!" I ushered the boys through the door into the hallway.

It was a dimly lit corridor, the lights flickering above us. Cement surrounded us in, a door at the end of the hallway with an exit sign in green. Pipes draped wrapped around the walls like vines in the maze.

"Seriously?" I heard Fry speak up from the back of the group as I migrated to the front.

Thomas hesitantly opened the door for the group of us. I walked into the room first, noticing the amount of dead bodies that lay scattered on the floor.

"Shuck" I muttered to myself as I stumbled over one of the bodies that lay limp. A hand grabbed onto me before I could fall.

"Hey, be careful okay?" The british accent said to me. Easily recognizable as Newts.

The bodies lay limp on the floor. Bullet wounds all over them. Shattered glass scattered all over the floor and people lay dead everywhere. In cots, on the floor, leaned against tables.

"What happened here?" I asked the group.

Thomas walked over to the center console, hesitantly clicking a red button that was on the digital counter.

"Hello." A voice sprang out. A digital video of a lady dressed in a white suit with blonde sleek hair styled in a bun said aloud.

All of our eyes turned to the lady who was projected onto the screen. I looked at Newt with a nervous expression. He put his hand on my shoulder, comforting me ever so slightly.

"My name is Doctor Ava Paige. I'm director of operations of the Catastrophe Killzone Department." She started.

WCKD... These are the creators, the people who send us shipments. I thought to myself.

"If you're watching this, that means you have successfully completed the Maze Trials. I wish I could be there to congratulate you, but these circumstances seem to prevent it..." Ms Ava Paige said to us.

I looked around the room yet again as she continued talking. My mind wandered non stop. I moved towards the center console, looking at the computers that were turned on. Recordings of us were shown on the computers. Photos of us, labels?

"Y/N, come back over here!" I heard Newts voice yell. I quickly walked over back to the group. "Don't wander off, I don't want you getting hurt or anything" He whispered into my ear. I nodded, continuing my gaze back to the woman on the screen.

"The outside world awaits..."

She took out a pistol from her side, holding it up to her head.

"Remember, Wicked Is Good" The woman repeated.

She pulled the trigger as I put my head into Newts shoulder, squeezing my eyes shut as the sound of a gun went off.

"Is it over?" I asked, slowly looking up.

I noticed a lady in a white coat lay on the floor, her hair scattered a bit in a frenzy, and a pool of blood lay around her.

"She said we were important..." Newt muttered.
