17| Danger

Emily Rose

"Wooaahhh, slow down." I yelled as my hands clenched onto Parker's arms.

"Emmie, we haven't moved, yet. We're still on the carpet." Parker said, his eyebrow raised in amusement.

Heat rushes up to my cheeks, "shut up, you're moving too fast."

Parker chuckles before rolling his eyes, "yeah, sure I am."

"Not funny." I grumbled, but Parker just shook his head and began to shuffle his feet, causing us to glide against the ground.

And by glade, I mean me holding on to dear life as Parker tried to not have us both make a fool out of ourselves.

"Emmie, stop hanging on so tight, you're cutting blood circulation to my arms."

"Oh, shut up, will ya'!" I sneered at him and he flashed me a lopsided smile.

A sense of silence ran through us before Parker Parker spook again.

"So... are you ready for me to let go now?"

As my body flashed with sudden adrenaline and fear, my hands clenched tighter onto his arms.

I paled, the feeling of nausea getting to me.

"What?! Let go?!"

His eyes find mine.  "Don't worry, you'll be fine."

"You're trying to kill me, aren't you?"

His eyes draw together in confusion, before he lets out a loud, smokey laugh.

"Obviously."

"I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not."

He gave a half shrug before letting my hands slip from his arms to his hands. His eyes lit like the brightest fireflies. "You ready?"

I bit my lip before nodding.

There's no stopping now, I'm already up and moving.

"Okay... 1... 2... 3. Go!" Parker releases of my hands and I began to stand.

"Oh my God! I'm doing it!" I look down at my feet before bringing my attention back to him. A joyful smile overtaking my lips.

"Hell Yeah!" He pumped his fist in the air, before skating a few feet away from me. "Okay, no skate towards me."

He holds his hands out as he wears a boyish smile on his face.

I began to shuffle my feet, little by little, slowly making my way towards the tall Adonis.

"Almost there, just a couple more steps..."

I began to laugh and his eyes shine in amusement. He shoves his thumbs into his pockets and bites his lips to keep from laughing with me.

Taking one last slide towards him, I end up tripping, falling right into Parker's arms.

We both look into each other's eyes before laughing. And we don't stop until our faces are almost tomato red and the breath has left our lungs.

I have a coughing fit as Parker lifts me up back on my feet.

"We certainly look like psychos now." Parker whispers in my ear.

"And we didn't before?" I cock an eyebrow at him and he smirks.

"Come on," he grabs my hands, "let's go see if we can get you one of those kiddy helper things."

My eyes furrow. "A what, what?"

*****

I cross my hands over my chest.

"Are you mad?" A smirk plays on his face.

He's trying to piss me off, isn't he?

"No, I'm not mad."

"You're face is scrunched up, like you're mad."

"I swear to-."

"It's okay if you're mad."

"I'm not mad."

A few seconds pass.

"You still look mad."

"I swear Parker if you don't shut up."

So apparently the little "kiddy helper thing" is actually called a PVC Skating Helper Aid. Which Parker says that he was "close" but I would instead call him a dumbass.

"Oh, come on. You look like a-." Parker starts as he begins to skate circles around me.

"Don't you dare!" I point an accusing finger at him.

He held his hands up in surrender. "What? All I was going to say was a 12 year child."

I flipped him off but that only caused his eyes to shimmer with amusement. He stuck his tongue out at me.

"Hey, it's not my fault you have to take beginner steps before you fly."

I groaned.

Of course he was right, but I wasn't going to let him know that.

My legs buckled under me and I leaned against the contraption.

"Careful." Parker called out and I rolled my eyes.

This is so embarrassing.

"Do I have to use this?" I looked back and asked him.

He nodded. "Yes, unless you wanna bust your ass again?"

I shook my head before moving my feet that were contained in this death trap.

This is going to be a long day.

*****

"You're making great progress," Parker said as he took off his shoes of horror. "Only 4 ass wipes, 2 wipeouts and 3 smacks against the wall. I say this was a great day."

Parker looks at me, a cocky smile overtaking his lips.

"I hate you." I try to be serious but the amusement in his eyes sparks.

He raises an eyebrow. Placing a hand under his chin, he fakes innocence. "Now why would you do that?"

I grabbed my nearby shoe and throw at him, which he caught easily.

"God, who thought you to throw? They deserve to be shot." He looks at the shoe then me, as if I grew a second head.

"You." I point at him.

He shakes his head. "Can't be. My baby cousin can throw better than you and he's two."

I snatch my shoe out of his hand, irritated. I began to take off my skates, all I wanted to do was go home and take a bath. I feel like I rolled in dirt.

"Come on, Emmie. I was just playing around."

"Don't."

"Alright, how about I buy you ice cream, will that make up for something."

I turn towards him, "bribery doesn't look good on you, Parker."

Smirking, he holds his hands up in surrender, "I'm desperate."

As I roll my eyes on the outside, but on the inside, the happy, sugar loving woman in me was screaming.

I mean who in their right mind would give up free food?!

Now that's crazy.

"Okay, but you're paying for toppings too." I pointed at him with a serious look on my face.

Parker stood up, dusting off his jeans. With a lopsided smile on his lips, he reached out towards me. "Come on, Sugar Bunny, let's go before you die of  excitement."

*****

Parker's car drove into my street as I stuffed the last of my ice cream into my mouth.

Parker glimpsed at me, "Damn, that was fast."

I shrug. "I've eaten more."

"Have you?"

"Yeah, one time I was at this pie eating contest and-."

"Wait, Emily did you leave your door open?" Parker interrupted me.

I turn towards him with a funny look on my face. "No, I locked it, why?"

"Because some did." He said and pointed in front of us.

My eyes widened as I looked up and saw my front door, busted open. Completely knocked off of its hinges.

"Parker..." I gasp, grabbing onto his arm as he parked into my driveway.

My heart began to quicken as a cold sweat ran through me.

"Let me go see first, don't come out of the car, Emily." Parker ordered as he slowly got out of the car before careful walking inside the house.

I pressed myself back against the seat.

Oh, god.

Oh, god.

Take deep breaths, Emmie, deep breaths.

After a couple minutes, Parker still has not came out of the house.

Don't do it, Emmie, don't be that stupid person in those scary movies you watch.

Don't be that girl!

I groan, before running my fingers through my hair and slowly opening the car door.

"Parker?" I call out but get no answer.

"Parker?" I call out again, my heart pounds against my chest as I make my way to the house.

"Parker?" I whisper.

Darkness entraps the house into its spiraling webs, letting no light escape it's deafening silence.  The sound of crushed glass sounds softly under my shoes as I softly step inside the house. A rush of breath ran down my neck.

I whirled around.

Was that someone?

I shake my head in disbelief before turning back around and walking.

As I continue to make small steps through my hallway, I began see a growing light.

The living room.

I slowly made my way towards the living room, a sound of dripping reaches my ears.

What's that?

I turn into the living room and a blood curdling scream escapes my lips.
