04| Without Him

Emily Rose

Five Years Later

I sat at my desk, going over my schedule.

So I had to visit Cameron's place for our weekly hangouts, go back home and get ready for Barbara and Kelly's wedding and after party then go back home and sleep.

Speaking of the wedding, I have to check up on their caterer and florist to make sure they have gotten there already.

Right when I picked up the phone on my desk to call them, the assistant manager, Camara walked in.

Camara was a amazing friend of mine, I meet her when I was in college and we just clicked.

When I started by wedding planning business, Headin' For A Weddin' four years ago, I instantly called her and asked her if she wanted to help me. Surprisingly she said yes, she said that she hated her job and was looking for something new.

Ever since then we've grown closer as employees and as friends.

She had a bright smile on her face as she stared at me.

I put the phone down and smiled back. "Yes?"

She jumped and down in excitement before pointing towards the large window besides my desk. "Look outside, now!!" She gushed.

A bright red blush marked against her dark brown cheeks as she run towards the window and began to look outside of it.

I stood up from my rolling chair. "Okay, what are you gushing about?"

I finally made my way to the window and gasped.

Oh my God.

Standing outside holding a large bouquet of white ditties was my fiancé.

Tomas Knox McCoy.

His green eyes sparked as he looked up at the window.

"Girl, you better go down there. If you don't I will." Camara said, breaking me out of my trance. I turned to her and laughed.

Whenever Tomas comes into the wedding shop, Camara always calls him different nicknames, like Hot Account, McCutie or, her personal favorite, MrSteamy.

"I'm going, I'm going." I said before running out of the office.

The wedding planner building was a two story building. The downstairs was a bridal shop, while the upstairs was where the offices and breakroom were.

I ran the stairs and out of the door, running right into Tomas' arms, where he grabbed me and spun me around.

A happy laugh came out of my lips as he put me down on the ground.

His head leaned against mine as he whispered.

"I can't wait to I marry you."

I laughed softly. "Only 6 months left."

Tomas groaned. "Feels like forever."

I wrapped my hands around his neck. "Wait until the wedding then it'll be forever."

He smiled at me and in return, I kissed him.

God, I love this man.

Cameron lived close to the office, so I never had to drive my car there, plus it gave me my daily workout.

I walked towards Cameron apartment, and furrowed my eyebrows when I saw her standing at her balcony.

She threw stacks and stacks of clothes at a man below her as I walked closer I realized that the man was Tristan, her on and off boyfriend.

"Fuck You!" Cameron shouted from her balcony. "Fuck you and I hope you get a disease!" She continued to throw clothes over the bar and watch them fall to the ground.

Tristan ran his hands through his hair. "Bae, let's talk about this." He pled but Cameron continued to shove his clothes off the bar.

"Take your shit, Tristan! I'm done!" She yelled at him and I almost walked past but I stopped to talk to Tristan.

"Hey, Tristan." I waved and he turned his head towards me before smiling.

"Hey, Emmie Rose."

"Hey! Hey Emily!" Cameron shouted from her balcony and Tristan and I looked up.

She pointed at me then him. "Don't you dare help him. Let him pick it up."

I turned my head towards Tristan. "Sorry, wish I could help."

Tristan turned to me and shrugged. "It's okay, we all know she'll forgive me later and let me inside when she cools down."

"Yeah you're right." I gave him a sad smile and a parting wave before walking away. "Bye Tristan."

I don't understand how Cameron and Tristan always seem to fight and then come together in the end. It must be so exhausting.

I shake my head.

Not my business.

I make my way towards Cameron's apartment, before I could even make it through the door, she opened already and pulled me inside.

"Welcome. Welcome." She said as she walked me over to the couch and sat down. She patted down the seat next to her. "Sit, sit. Let's talk."

I sat down and smiled at her.

This wasn't what Cameron and I would usually do when we are hanging out at her apartment, we would usually watch a movie while eating popcorn. It's sometimes with Tristan, sometimes not. But it doesn't matter, this is weird.

"What do you wanna talk about?" I asked.

"Oh you know..." she drawled out. "Your wedding. It's in 6 months. Are you excited?"

I laugh. "Yeah I am. It's been a long time before I've felt this way."

She gives me a sad smile. "Yeah, long time."

I look down at my feet.

Well damn...

Cameron quickly caught on and changed the subject. "Hey... uh... you wanna watch a movie. I'll let you pick." I looked up at her and she smiled, not before wrapping her hands around me and hugging me.

I wrapped my arms around her and smiled.

Cameron is always there when I need her.

"Come on." She said letting me go. "I'll make the popcorn." She stood up and walked toward the kitchen.

Cameron has a very good taste in home decorating. I thought as I washed my hands in her beautiful bathroom.

Once I'm done washing and drying my hands.

I reach the door knob and began to open the door. I quickly stop when I heard a familiar voice say.

"Stay away, okay? She's not ready for you yet... No, y-you can't, okay? No, no, no. Anything to do with you, then no. Look, she's at my house, I gotta go. Alright bye, I do too. Bye."

I stood frozen.

My mind began to race.

Not ready for you yet..?

Stay away..?

Who was she talking to?

Who was she talking about?

Was she talking about me?

I took a deep breath. Settling my urge to rush Yo to Cameron and ask all the questions that are running through my head, right now.

If she wanted to tell me what that conversation was about she would have, I have to wait until she is ready to tell me. I thought, trying to convince myself to be a good friend before leaving the suddenly suffocating bathroom.

I walked around the park, talking to the guest and asking them about the wedding. It was nice to get feedback on my work, I always needed to improve on something.

I looked around the wedding reception.

Both of the brides wanted a inexpensive wedding, but wanted something traditional.

So I worked my magic and got them an reservation at a nice church from a friend who owed me. Then I got them a reservation at the park for their wedding reception.

Me and my team had spent all of yesterday decorating this place with the brides wedding colors; Serenity pale blue and white. We knew that they wanted their wedding reception at night, so we put fairy lights all around each nearby try. I guess it added to the whimsical affect.

People continuously complimented me on the decorations which led to them complimenting me on my outfit.

I wore a sleeveless, short blue dress with grey wedges. The long hair I used to have years ago was cut into bob.

Usually at weddings like this, Tomas would go with me but this time he had to work. So now I'm here, alone.

I walked around some more, greeting and talking to some guest.

Just when I was talking to a lady about her 12 year old granddaughter, I saw Barbara and Kelly at the buffet table.

I quickly excused myself from the lady and began to walk towards the brides.

Just as I walked, a hand appeared in my shoulder.

I swiftly turned around and saw Cameron.

Sweat dripped from her brows as she heavily huffed like she just finished running a mile.

"C-Cameron?!"

Her eyes held something in them, I couldn't figure out what it was because just when I said her name, she grabbed onto my wrist and began to pull me away from the wedding reception.

"Cameron? Cameron, what going on?" I whispered over to her, trying not to cause a scene.

Cameron drags me all the way to a couple trees not far from the cite as I call her name, trying to get her to listen to me.

"Cameron! Cameron!" I called out to her again as she continued to drag me away, mutter incoherent words under her breath. "Cameron!" I yelled at her, pulling my wrist out of her hand and stepping back.

That seemed to break her out of her trance.

That's when her eyes widen in fear, she quickly grabs onto my hand again and starts to yank be but I stand my ground.

"Cameron, what are you doing?"

"I have to get you out of here, Emmie." She yanks again. "You have to leave right now."

Her voice cracks and a small part of my heart aches but I won't give up without a fight.

"W-What? Why? Why do I have to leave." I ask her frantically.

She shakes her head. "Emmie you have to leave! Now! You have to leave!" She stops yanking and shouts at me.

"Why? Why must I leave, this is my job! I can't leave work!" I shout back.

"No, you gotta go Emily, he's coming. I tried to stop him-" She starts to but I quickly cut her off, yanking my hand out of her tight grip.

"He? Who's he? Who's coming?" I yell at her before taking another step back and bumping into something hard.

Hands appear on my shoulders and a shock of electricity runs through my body, causing me to shiver.

A dark, husky voice soon joins the conversation saying one word that completely crushes me.

"Me."

I don't even have to think because I already know who's behind me when Cameron sneers.

"Parker..."

My body stiffens.

Oh my God.

*****

Hey guys!

Oh no, Parker's back.

Emily has a life of her own, she doesn't have time for some old flame... or does she?

The picture at the top is the how Emily Rose looked like at the wedding reception.

I'm really hoping I can get Chapter 5 done by next Saturday but I don't know if I'll be able to since the school is starting and I got stuff to do... so I'll try my best but if not except the Sunday.

Anyways, I hope you liked Chapter 4 of The Love That Is Parker Bowmen.
