Chapter 36

Ross' POV:

I paced the hallway where the ICU was.

What is going on inside of there?

Why is it taking 2 hours with no response?

Are they doing surgery?

Surgery for what?

Why wasn't she breathing?

Why did the monitor not give some kind of response?

Is she gonna..die?

Is she gonna go in another coma?

What is gonna happen to her?

Could you shut the hell up? All. These. Questions! Wait and you'll know.

I can't wait, she could be dying for all I know.

You still wouldn't be able to do anything if you knew what was wrong.

Shut up.

"Your pacing is driving me mad!" Riker yelled at me.

I rolled my eyes as Lea tried to calm him.

"I'm sorry for my worrying."

"We're all worrying. Not just you. We all care about Sofia."

"Well I was the one who realized she wasn't breathing. I had to get help and be ignored when I asked what the hell was happening to her!"

He stood in front of me, "I was the one that put her there in the first place!"

"And I was the one who made the mistake of not getting her away from you!"

He faltered, "Why? Cause you're better for her?"

"Maybe I am! Anyone I'd better than you!"

"You litte-" he lunged at me but I slammed him against the wall.

"Guys, please stop-" Lea attempted to stop us but I spat, "Back. Off."

She nervously steeped back and I put my attention back on Riker. If glares could kill, he'd be long dead.

"She loved you. She defended you. You tore her apart and hurt her. You even physically hurt her!"

"I never-" "When you held onto her wrist back at Jess', let's just say that bright red bruise didnt leave in five minutes."

He softened, "I didn't mean to-"

"You never mean to do you? You just do it. You hurt the people who care about you. You abused the girl who was willing to be with you until she died, physically, mentally and verbally."

I gave a dry laugh, "And it looks like she did."

"She's not gonna die." he glared at me.

"Yeah well it's almost 3 hours that she's been in there and nothing has happened. But you know what makes me feel better? The fact that of she does die today, you'll be torturing yourself for the rest of your life and you deserve it."

He didnt say anything but I could see that I got to him.

I let him go and was about to walk away when I heard a door open.

"Family of Sofia Charles?"

Jessica's POV:

"There has to be a flight." "I'm sorry Miss but all flights to Colorado are unavailable."

"Please, my best friend is in the ICU. I need to be in Colorado."

He gave me a sympathetic look, "I apologize, but there is nothing I can do."

I sighed, I guess I'll just have to drive there. But it'll take longer.

17 hours to be exact.

I have to get to Sofia, no mater what.

I drove to the nearest gas station, filling my car and getting a good supply of food before I began my drive to what use to be my home.

I glanced at the passenger seat where Sofia used to sit.

"She's gonna be okay Jess. When you reach there, she's gonna smile at you with that heartwarming smile. Greet you with her best sarcasm and she'll be back home in California where you both will be best friends living life together. Everything is going to be absolutely fine."

Just hope your little pep talk becomes reality.

~5 hours later~

"No." I looked out the window.

"No, no, no, no, no! Come on!" I beeped my horn.

I proceeded to bang my head against the steering wheel.

"This." Bang! "Can't." Bang! "Be." Bang! "Happening." Bang! "Right." Bang! "Now." Bang!

I have 12 more hours of driving ahead of me and there's the longest line of traffic.

I stopped a two truck that was going the other direction.

"What's going on up there?"

"A duck and her ducklings were crossing and one of the duckilinhs feel in a small hole in the middle of the road. They're trying to get it out. Been trying for about an hour now actually."

I groaned, "I've got to get to Colorado."

"Where you coming from?"

"California."

His eyes widened, "Um I happen to know another way to Colorado and I'll.not doing anything important so I can show you."

"I would but my car, I can't leave it here."

"You sit here with me and I'll two your car."

I beamed, searching for my purse, "Oh my gosh. Thank you, how much?"

He shook his head, "Nah. It's on me."

I smiled, getting in the truck and texted Ross that I was on my way.

"Damn." I muttered, "No signal."

Ross' POV:

"Is she okay?" I ask.

"We're still trying to get her, we found a pulse so within a matter of time well know for sure."

"Just found a pulse? What were you doing in there for 2 hours?"

"Trying to find a pulse from your girlfriend." She said in a duh tone.

Well she did just say that.

"He's not her boyfriend." Riker gritted his teeth.

"Look." She sighed, "I dont care about your teeny bopper drama okay. She gots problems with her breathing because of her asthma. I'll come out as soon as I've got more to tell you."

"But I'm 24." Riker stared at the doctor as she walked back inside the ICU.

I rolled my eyes and proceeded to walk outside.

"Where is Jess?" I looked at my phone to see a message from 5 hours ago.

Jessie: there is no flight to Colorado.
Jessie: I'm gonna drive and yes it's a 17 hour drive but I have to see her.

I gave a sigh, shell be here in about 12 hours do maybe around 5 a.m. tomorrow morning.

I paced the front of the hospital. This is so messed up. All this drama within a matter of weeks

"Ross?" I stopped my pacing and stared at the girl who called me.

"Yeah? Do I know you?"

"You seriously don't remember me? I never knew people forgot their childhood enemy, from since kindergarten."

Realization hit me, "Isabella?"

She smirked, "There you go Lynch. What brings you to back to Colorado?"

"A friend of mine, Sofia. She's in the ICU."

Her eyes widened, "Sofia Charles? Is she okay?"

"You knew Sofia?"

"I'm positively sure that since we went to high school together I knew her before you did."

I slowly nodded, "Forgot about that."

"California took all your brain cells?"

I rolled my eyes, "I'm dying if laughter."

She smiled,"Where's Jessica?" "Currently driving her from California."

"That's like a 13 hour drive."

I chuckled, "More like  17 hours. She couldn't get a flight and she desperately wants to see Sofia."

She frowned, "I hope she makes it and I hope Sofia will be okay."

"Why are you here?" It was my turn to ask.

Her face brightened, "I'm pregnant. I'm actually waiting for my husband."

Someone married her? For real?

"You are?" I looked at her stomach which didn't at all look fat.

"On my 3rd month, going for an ultrasound."

"Aren't they're special hospitals for that?"

She rolled her eyes, "Stop questioning everything and accept it. I'll see you around Lynch."

"Yeah. Bye." I watched as she went inside.

~3 hours later~

I could feel myself about to fall asleep but I refused to.

Not while she's still in there.

Lea had to go he and Riker's straining his neck as he sleeps.

Who could sleep at a time like this?

Sofia could be dying. Or worse..already dead.

I stared at the wall opposite me and heard a door open.

I glanced at the direction to suddenly see Sofia in front of me.

I shot up, "Are you okay?"

She smiled and nodded, "I have my memory again."

I couldn't believe it. She was standing here, all right.

"Ross?" She stared st me with her mesmerizing hazel eyes.

"Yeah Sof?"

"Thanks for sticking by me."

I gave a small smile. "I love you Sofia."

"Excuse me!" She yelled. "What?"

"Wake up!"

"What? I'm up. I'm up." I looked at the doctor. "Is she okay?"

The doctor stared at me before she spoke.
