Chapter 26

Jessica's POV:

"I'm bored." Riker whined, for the millionth time.

This is so deja vu.

"I told you to bring something to do but you wouldn't listen so just face the consequence and shut up!" Sofia rolled her eyes, putting her attention back on her book.

"I wasn't expecting it to be so boring." he defended.

She huffed, slowly closing her book, "For a guy who travels everywhere you thin he'd know what it's like to be on a plane."

"Cause I'm with my siblings and it's fun. Your nose is stuck in a book." "Well excuse me for wanting to read Riker but you can't blame me for your boredom." she folded her arms in frustration.

"Yeah, well-" I put in my earplugs to shut out their brewing argument with music. It didn't help much, but it was better.

-------------------------------------------

"Hey Jessie. We're here." Ross shook me awake.

I squinted, adjusting me eyes to the light. I gave a yawn and looked out the window. I sighed, "Home."

We got out into the airport and got a ride to my house.

"Your mom insisted that we stay here." Ross told me as we arrived. I grinned as I approached what I missed the most.

"My baby! Have you missed me? I missed you so much."

"She's not serious." I heard Riker say.

"She is, she loved it more than life." Sofia told him. "Oh come on Jess, you've been gone for months and you head to your car before me."

"Mom." I hugged her tightly.

"I've missed you so much honey, you too Sofia." she opened her arms for Sofia.

She looked at Ross and Riker. "I haven't seen you since you were kids. You're so big. Taller than me." she hugged them.

Let's just say she's a hugger.

"Yeah, it's been a while." Ross chuckled. "And you guys are together, finally! I've shipped it since you were 10." she beamed.

"Let's go inside. We can talk more there."

"This place hasn't changed a bit." Ross noted, looking around. "Go get settled and we'll talk after. Go. Shoo." she sent us upstairs.

"There's only 2 rooms." Riker muttered as he watched the 2 doors.

"Oh I forgot to tell you that you'd be sharing rooms. I'm sure you won't mind that." I could picture mom winking.

Sofia and Riker looked at each other nervously, she finally opened the door to what use to be her room when she came over and went inside, Riker following behind her.

I entered my room and was met with the familiar scent of lavender.

Everything was exactly how I left it. Ross laughed and I looked to see what was so funny. "It's pretty much the same just a lot of R5 posters."

I smiled, "Just because I hated you doesn't mean I didn't like your music."

"Ouch Jessie." he chuckled, placing his hand over his heart. "That hurt." I smiled sweetly, "Get over it."

"Hurry up guys! We have so much to talk about." mom called.

-------------------------------------

"I was honestly so happy when I found out you lived next to the Lynch's. It would've been like the old days, before, well you know." mom beamed.

We all smiled, "But putting the pats behind us, Sofia you're with Riker! I remember the days where you continuously obsess over R5, mainly Ross."

"Yup," Riker huffed, "All over the room. Ross."

Sofia rolled her eyes. Ross nudged Riker, "Dude." Mom gave a cough, "Um, so what do y'all plan to do while you're here. I know you won't be sticking around with me."

I forced a smile, "The guys have planned some things, unknown to us and I'm sure it'll be fun."

"It was Ross really, now I know for sure you would enjoy yourselves." Riker said, his gaze on Sofia.

In response, she stood up and marched out of the house, slamming the door louder than a teen who's mad at their parents.

We all glared at Riker.

"Even I have to admit Riker that was rude and silly of you." mom told him, folding her arms.

"What?" he dared to ask.

"You're a real jerk, you know that." Ross told him, "I thought this trip was for you to show Sofia you love her. She doesn't deserve this bs you're giving her!"

"And what? She deserves you? The guy who killed her brother?" Riker spat.

Damn.

But Ross wasn't affected, " She doesn't love me you idiot. She loves you, but if you keep this act up while we're here, don't even try giving her that ring cause I won't let you and she might as well love me."

What ring?

"Stay out of this Ross. This is between Sofia and I." he stepped towards him. Ross did the same, "Once you hurt her, it would never just be between the both of you."

He didn't reply but instead marched upstairs.

I looked at Ross, perplexed with everything that's happened. He sighed, "Do you have any idea where she might be?"

"I have a hunch."

---------------------------------------

Ross' POV:

I roamed around my old neighbourhood, seeing new buildings and houses and such.

I was surprised at where Jessie told me Sofia might be. I used to go there all the time. To my dismay she wasn't there and I looked around.

"Where could she be?" I asked myself.

I sat on one of the swings in the park, admiring the scenery. I've really missed this place, I regret not ever visiting Colorado before now.

I felt myself falling asleep after a while and decided that it'd be best to go home.

I just hope wherever she is, she's okay. I got up and walked into someone, throwing them down. "I'm so sorry..Sofia?"

She looked up at me, "Ross."

I helped her up, "Where were you?" She sighed, shoving her hands in her pockets, "After I left, I took the long way here, I was about to get some ice cream before I sat on the swings."

I nodded, "Did she tell you I would be here? Jess that is."

"Yeah."

"Well you found me, so you could go back." she said. I shook my head, "I've been here for about an hour Sof," I held her hand.

"I'm not leaving now. Let's at least get that ice cream you were talking about."

She sighed, removing her hand from mine, "You should go Ross, Riker is already upset." "He's my brother, he'll get over it..eventually."

"Ross."

"Sofia. I care about you and I'm gonna be here for you."

"Fine." she gave up and held my hand as she headed for the shop.

---------------------------------

"He's just scared to lose you." I told her.

She ignored me.

"He wants to be with you but he's bothered by the age difference."

She continued to eat her ice cream as she gazed out the window.

"Sofia he loves you." I held her hand.

"Ross stop it!" she cried, pulling away. She wiped her tears quickly, trying not to bring attention to herself.

"Why are you here and not Jess?" she asked.

"I thought I should come."

She got up, walking back to the park. I followed her and we both sat on the swings. "I use to come here all the time when I needed to think."

She whispered something but I didn't hear her.

"What'd you say?" She took a breath, "I-I-" she choked, tears streaming down her beautiful face. "Ssh." I quieted her.

She shook her head, covering her face with her hands.

"I love him."
