"Why is she here?" Obanai says with one of his eyes twitching, looking at the girl who ignored his presence and kept eating her breakfast.

"She's my guest! Don't be rude to her!" Mitsuri responds to him with a pout.

"Mii-chan, I think there's something burning."

"Ah! You're right! Please wait just a minute, Obanai!" She says before sprinting to the kitchen.

Obanai sits in the other side of the table, glaring at Y/N, who was eating rice with a straight face.

"Mii-chan?"

"Jealous? "

"Shut up."

"Can I pet your snake?"

"No."

"Too bad because he's already here!" She exclaims happily putting her hand to the air to reveal Kaburamaru curled up in her arm.

Obanai then confusedly looks at his neck to see his friend missing.

"When did you do that?"

"I did nothing, he came to me! I suppose that my angelic charm was enough to attract him, ehehe."

Obanai just stood there looking at her in silence.

"What you are looking at?"

"I'm trying to find the angelic charm you mentioned."

"You bitch-"

"I'm back!" Mitsuri interrupts Y/N, coming into the room with more food.

The rest of the lunch was silent, with Obanai just glaring at Y/N as she ate.

"Can you stop? You're making my food taste bad." She comments as she took another bite of fish.

"Weren't you staying at Shinobu's state? Why did you come here?"

"Because my wife invited me."

"Huh?"

"Jeez Y/N, it makes me embarrassed when you call me like that!" Mitsuri says while giggling with a red face.

"Me what?"

"What kind of trick you used in her?!"

"Of course you did! Otherwise, why would she-

"Guys! Calm down! Why can't you both be friends? And Obanai, I'm confident that if you give a chance to Y/N you will see how much of nice person she is-"

"Never." He responds with a serious face.

"Well, at least in one thing we can agree." Y/N responds back, trying to reach back to her food, but being interrupted by a loud sound.

"CAW! CAW! Demon slayer L/N Y/N and Serpent Hashira Obanai are required in a mission CAW!"

Y/N drops her chopsticks in shock after hearing the crow screams.

"that- that's a joke, right?"

Her first mission without the kamaboko squad, and it is with him, of all people?! Isn't it obvious that he completely despises her?!

"WAAAAH! Your first mission in months and I won't be able to go with you, I'm so sad!" Mitsuri says as she hugged Y/N, Obanai just stood there, forgotten.

"It's a shame, but I will be sure to finish it as fast as I can and come see you, okay?"

"Sniff, okay."

The two set off to the mission local, as they walked in the dirt road, Obanai suddenly blurted out.

"Your friends are worried about you."

"Huh?"

"I went to Shinobu state before coming to see Mitsuri, they were all in a panic. Why did you leave?

"….can we talk about another thing?"

"Why are you being so selfish?"

"I know I'm being selfish, there's no need for you to say it to my face."

"If you know it's selfish, then why?"

"You wouldn't understand."

"I wouldn't?"

She lightly shook her head, a melancholic smile in her face.

"I'm being serious, it's not something you or anyone else can understand."

It was already sunset when they got to their destination, the two stood in front of a village, the people in there walked in the road with gloomy expressions, even the air around was heavy.

"Seems like this demon have been causing trouble for a while." Y/N comments.

Obanai only nods in response before saying: "We're going to investigate for a bit, keep close to me in all times."

"Worried?"

"Though I hate you, as your superior, I'm responsible for you to not get hurt."

"Wow, you sounded so cool for a second."

"Shut up." He says with a harsh tone before entering the village, Y/N following him.

"Please, you have to help! He's everything to me!" A young lady exclaims, clutching to the clothes of a guard, who just pushed her harshly, making her fall in the floor.

"We are already investing the disappearances! Now go home before we put you in prison too!"

Y/N ran to aid the woman, helping her get up with a pity look.

"Are okay miss? Did they hurt you?"

"Sniff…I'm fine…it's just…"

"It's okay, you can tell me slowly, maybe we will be able to help you."

"We?" She says, before Obanai silently appeared behind the girl, her eyes go wide and she froze in fear.

The girl trembled and was ready to run away, but Y/N delicately held her hand and said: "There's no need to panic, apart from looking scary, Obanai is quite the sweetheart."

The woman alternated to look at the scary guy and the girl with a gentle smile for some seconds, before taking a deep breath and getting ready to talk.

''T-there's an evil spirit in this village! I-it has been taking young men away, and it took my husband! The authorities keep saying that they are investigating it, but there's no progress! I want my love back! I can't live without Akihito!"

She started to loudly cry, hugging Y/N tightly and crying into her chest.

In response, the girl patted her head gently.

"We will help, okay? That's why we are here….we are…uh…exorcists!… and if you are okay with it, could you show us where you last saw your husband?"

"Sniff…I think I can, but- are you certain? It might be dangerous to go out so late..."

"Don't worry, we need to go at night to the 'evil spirit' appear, and we will protect you if it comes to it."

"… Okay…I will show you guys, follow me." She says, slowly letting go of the girl and starting to walk in a random direction.

"That's quite the impressive interrogating skills." Obanai comments.

"You better praise me more, I can't believe I had to call you sweetheart, it's still giving me shivers."

"I really hate you."
