After Kiara had gotten dressed and the medication had wore off, they were given discharge papers to sign and were able to leave.

JJ held her hand as they walked past the protesters to the car. He ignored them this time. He didn't want to start anything right now. He didn't have the energy.

They got in the car and Kie instantly laid her head down on JJs lap again. He stroked her hair with one hand, and kept the other up her sweater and on her stomach

They laid like that for the whole car ride home.

When they got back to figure eight, Mike didn't make JJ go home. He saw the pain in their eyes and couldn't force them away from each other like that.

He let them stay on the couch together that night.

"JJ" Kie asked softly. The tv was off and they were sitting in the dark, cuddling on the couch.

"Mhm" he said, kissing her head

"Do you think-" her voice broke and she looked up at him "do you think we made the right choice?"

He stayed quiet for a minute as he thought.

"I do" he said quietly and looked down at her. "We had to"

She nodded and laid her head back down. They sat in silence for a minute.

"I wasn't expecting it to be so hard" Kie said, beginning to cry into his chest.

He held her tight and rubbed her back as he comforted her.

"I know" he whispered to hide his shaky voice. "I know"

"Maybe you were right" she cried "maybe I shouldn't have gotten-"

"No, Kie. You did the right thing" JJ reassured "for everyone involved"

She sniffled and snuggled her head into his chest.

"Just try to go to sleep" he whispered, stroking her hair. "It's been a long day"

They soon both drifted to sleep.

When Kie woke up, JJ wasn't on the couch anymore. She heard his voice and looked to see him sitting at the bar, talking to her dad who was in the kitchen, leaning on the counter in front of him.

She could only hear bits and pieces of what they were saying but it sounded important.

She laid back down for a minute and stretched before she got up to meet them.

She saw him look back at her. His head resting on his hand as he turned his attention back to her dad.

"Whats going on?" Kie asked as she made her way to the bar and leaned against the counter.

"Nothing" Mike smiled and opened his arms for a hug "you sleep good?"

"Fine" kie shrugged, confused by there suspicious manner.

"I have work today but I'll be back around 6" JJ said to Kie as he stood up

"You're coming back?" Kie asked, pleasantly surprised as she looked back and forth at the two boys.

"Yea" JJ said with an unresolved look on his face as he looked at Mike

Kie looked up at her dad and he nodded

"I'll see you later tonight" he smiled

Kie walked with him to the door, still a little confused.

She went outside with him and stopped at the porch

"JJ, wait" Kie said, grabbing his attention and making him turn back around.

JJ smiled a little awkwardly, knowing what she was going to ask

"He's letting you come back?" Kie asked "what were y'all talking about?"

"He just wants to talk, that's all" JJ said but Kie didn't feel right about it

"Talk about what?" She asked

He tilted his head knowing that she wasn't going to give it up. He stepped closer like it was still undecided if he would tell her or not yet.

"I think your dad wants me to come work at the wreck" JJ admitted "i don't know why, but I feel like that's what he's getting at."

"Why would he want you to do that?" Kie questioned, matching his secretive tone

"I don't know, that's what I'm wondering too" JJ said

"Would you?" Kie asked

"I don't know. I don't know what he's on about right now" JJ said, gesturing to him inside "i definitely wouldn't quit the job i have now for it"

"Why not"

"I dunno, he's kinda unstable when it comes to deciding if he likes me or not" JJ joked "one wrong move with you and I'd get fired"

"I don't think you can make that much worse of a move then getting me pregnant" Kie shrugged

JJ dropped his head and laughed

"True" he agreed "still, i don't know. We'll see how the talk goes with him tonight. Just don't say anything about it yet. He's being weird about it"

"Okay" Kie smiled

"I'll see tonight" he smiled back and wrapped her in a quick hug

"I love you" Kie said, giving him a quick kiss

He paused and looked into eyes for a moment

"I love you too" he smiled and finally left for work.
