"Nightmare!" Dream whined, running in circles around his irritated brother.

"What do you want now." Nightmare huffed, watching Dream run around him with a slight glare. Nightmare was annoyed, not because of Dream, but because he was tired as usual. Though this time he was more tired as he hadn't been to sleep for almost two days. He swore the shadows were dancing.

"Night, let's go for a walk!" Dream exclaimed excitedly, halting and staring at his brother with wide, hopeful eyes. Nightmare glanced away from the 'dancing' shadows and tilted his head slightly.

"What?" He asked, not hearing what Dream had said.

"Walk!" Dream replied.

"Wha- no."

"Yes!"

"No."

Dream huffed, glancing downwards with a downhearted expression and sniffling. Nightmare's eye twitched and he inwardly groaned, rolling his eyes at the behaviour. He knew Dream wasn't actually sad- he always did this in order to get what he wanted. Nightmare hated the fact that it always worked.

"Fine, we'll go for a walk.." He mumbled, folding his arms and glancing sideways.

Dream perked up and he grinned, cheering victoriously and running in a circle again.

"Stop running in circles, you're making me dizzy." Nightmare grumbled, grabbing Dream's cape to cease his running. Dream yelped slightly as he was abruptly stopped and whined, trying to break free.

"Stop." Nightmare huffed. Amazingly, Dream listened to his brother and ended his poor attempts to escape.

"Are we going for a walk or not?"

Dream perked up again and nodded. Nightmare released his hold on Dream's cape and yawned quietly. Dream payed him no mind and went upstairs to obtain something. Nightmare observed his brother, sighing once he was out of sight.

Dream held a cheerful expression as he entered his bedroom, swapping his usual crown for a golden flower crown that Santa had given him for Christmas. He stepped towards his mirror and analysed his appearance, smiling in satisfaction. Just as he was about to leave, he noted a red umbrella besides his wardrobe.

"Hmm, maybe I should take an umbrella with me incase it rains." Dream mused, staring out of his window with a thoughtful expression. The sky did look rather dull- darkened clouds and a slight, whistling wind making themselves present.

Dream nodded to himself, grabbing the umbrella and exiting his bedroom.

'It looks cold outside.' Dream contemplated. 'Maybe I should get a coat.'

Dream seemed to agree with this idea and once again entered his bedroom, grabbing a pale blue coat and hastily put it on.

"This will keep me nice and warm!" Dream giggled, proud of himself for figuring that out. He left his bedroom and decided to head into Nightmare's room, grabbing a purple coat and leaving. He rushed back downstairs towards his brother, who was staring quizzically at the shadows.

"Night! I got you a coat incase it rains!" Dream declared, tossing the coat towards Nightmare. Nightmare jumped slightly when the coat hit him, snapping out of his daze and turning to stare at Dream. A small smile found its way onto his face as he noted the golden flower crown he had gotten Dream for Christmas.

Nightmare smiled fondly at the memory before remembering they were getting ready to go on a walk. He grabbed the purple coat and put it on, fastening the buttons.

"Let's go!" Dream exclaimed, grabbing Nightmare's arm and leading him outside.

"Don't pull me." Nightmare huffed, breaking free from the grasp. Dream pouted however continued to walk, Nightmare falling into step with him.

The two brothers began to walk to nowhere in particular, remaining in a peaceful quiet. There were many birds chirping and singing melodically, perched in the twisting branches of the swaying trees. An array of beautiful pink and yellow flowers decorated the grass, gently waving in the wind and a fluffy, snow-white rabbit hopped out of a bush, glimpsing at the two brothers before bounding away.

Dream giggled softly as he watched the critter hop away. Nightmare grinned, yawning soon after the rabbit was no longer in sight. Dream's eyes flickered towards his brother momentarily, wondering when he last went to sleep.

Before Dream could ask, a drop of rain lightly hit his nose making him blink in surprise. Dream glanced upwards, noticing a few more droplets beginning to rain down.

"Nightmare! The sky is crying!" Dream announced. Nightmare hummed in response.

"Someone must've upset it." He replied tiredly, not really thinking about what he way saying anymore. Dream frowned slightly and inched towards his brother, pulling the purple hood over his skull for him. Dream then proceeded to open the umbrella, holding it above him and Nightmare to shelter them both from rain.

"Are you okay? You seem exhausted." Dream asked Nightmare, tilting his head slightly with concern showing in his expression.

As if on cue, Nightmare yawned and blinked tiredly.

"When was the las time you went to sleep?" Dream interrogated, folding his arms. Nightmare shrugged, looking anywhere except at Dream.

"Uh... two days I think." He mumbled, trying to avoid Dream's glare.

"What! Night, you need to get some sleep- that's not healthy!" Dream scolded, forcing Nightmare to look at him.

"When we get back, you are going straight to sleep." Dream huffed, glaring into Nightmare's lilac orbs. Nightmare frowned, feeling guilty for worrying Dream.

"Okay..." He mumbled, his eyes downcast. "I'm sorry." He added.

Dream sighed, calming himself down.

"It's okay, but you have to promise me you'll go straight to sleep when we get back."

Nightmare nodded. "I promise."

Dream sighed quietly in relief, giving his brother a small, forgiving smile.

"Come on, let's head back then." Dream suggested, grabbing Nightmare's hand gently and beginning to walk back in the direction of home. Nightmare simply nodded again and walked besides him.

The two brothers began to wander back towards their home in the pouring rain hand in hand. The critters of the land watched them with mild interest before going back to whatever they were doing before.

Despite the walk being cut short, Dream still enjoyed it. And so did Nightmare.

"Hey Night? Once you're well rested we should do this again, but this time the walk will be longer." Dream mused, glancing at Nightmare.

Nightmare smiled slightly and nodded, still facing forwards.

"That would be nice." He replied softly.

Dream grinned and turned back to face the direction they were walking in.

Onwards they walked.
