Another cheerful oneshot before I get onto my next request. Brush your teeth before you cross the road. I hope you all know what I-spy is.

"Found you!" Dream exclaimed, giggling happily as he peered through a bush at his brother. Nightmare smirked and practically leaped out of the bush, running away from Dream. The two had been playing hide and seek tag for almost an hour now, lost in their own little world. Dream wasted no time in chasing after his brother, giggling to himself.

"You can't outrun me!" Dream proclaimed between breaths of laughter, catching up to Nightmare.

Nightmare chuckled. He was much faster than Dream, after all he'd had a lot of practice running away. He shook his head, not wanting to dwell on that thought for too long. He gradually slowed his pace though, allowing his brother to catch up quickly. Dream's smile widened as he caught up, tagging Nightmare's shoulder.

"Got you!" Dream declared victoriously, panting slightly from all of the running. The two guardians came to a halt, both laughing softly and catching their breath.

"Hey, how about we do something else now?" Nightmare suggested once he'd caught his breath. Dream hummed thoughtfully.

"Okay!" he agreed eagerly. "But what shall we do?"

Nightmare shrugged, contemplating. "We could climb the Tree of Feelings and play I-spy?"

Dream seemed to approve of this idea, nodding ecstatically with starry eyes.

"That's a great idea!" He praised. "Race you up the tree!"

Nightmare rolled his eyes, clicking his fingers and teleporting to a sturdy branch instantaneously. Dream whined, yelling something about cheating before copying his brother and teleporting besides him, taking a seat on the branch. Nightmare grinned, sitting next to him. They had a clear view of the land below- perfect for I-spy.

"I'm starting!" Dream announced, not waiting for Nightmare to reply. "I spy with my little eye something green."

Nightmare glanced downwards at the grass; surely it wouldn't be something as simple as that. He observed his surroundings carefully.

"Leaves?" He guessed.

"Nope!"

"Bushes?"

"Nope!" Dream giggled.

Nightmare tilted his head, sparing another glance downwards.

"Grass?"

Dream nodded enthusiastically. "That took you ages to guess- I am really good at this game!" He proudly stated. Nightmare sighed, rolling his eyes playfully.

"My turn." Nightmare voiced, once again observing his surroundings before focusing on something fluttering delicately nearby.

"I spy with my eye-"

"Little eye!" Dream huffed.

"I spy with my little eye something white."

Dream looked around thoughtfully.

"Cloud."

"No."

"Flower."

"No."

Dream let out another huff, about to whine about it being too difficult before being interrupted by something landing on the tip of his non-existent nose.

"Butterfly?" he mumbled to himself, staring at the pretty insect. Nightmare grinned.

"Yeah, you got it." He answered, wafting the butterfly off of Dream's face.

Dream blinked. He didn't mean that to be his guess. Oh well, he'll just pretend he did and bask in his glory.

"I am great at this game!"

Nightmare smirked, turning away from his brother and exhaling quietly.  The game continued for a while longer, Dream becoming utterly perplexed on the last one.

"So it's blue and yellow?"

"Basically."

"That's a weird colour combination." Dream mumbled, trying to spot anything that matched this description. Nightmare snorted.

"I think it looks quite nice. Reminds me of positive emotions." he hinted.

Dream nodded thoughtfully. "So it's not you."

"Thanks, Dream."

Dream's eyes widened slightly, realising that might have been a tad insensitive. "Night I am so sorry, I didn't mean that in a rude way I promise-" He apologised before being interrupted by a light laugh.

"Relax Dream, I know what you meant." Nightmare reassured. "So if it's not me, who could it possibly be?"

"Keith?"

"Is Keith blue and yellow?"

"No."

"Then no, it's not Keith."

Dream folded his arms, refusing to look at Nightmare. "It's too difficult."

"Do you want me to tell you the answer?" Nightmare asked, poking Dream in the shoulder. Dream batted his brother's hand away, whining in protest. "Yes."

"It's you, silly." Nightmare revealed, laughing as he watched the realisation dawn on him. Dream looked away in embarrassment.

"I knew that-  I just didn't say the answer." He mumbled.

Nightmare laughed. "Whatever you say, Dream."

Dream turned back to peer at his brother, smiling before joining in on the laughter. The two remained like that for a while longer, enjoying each others company.

"Hey Night, let's play guess the animal!"

Nightmare gave him a soft smile, nodding in agreement. This was a game they used to play all the time- one of them pretends to be an animal and acts how it would; the other has to guess which animal they are. Dream beamed excitedly.

"I'll go first!" Dream said giddily, taking a few seconds to think before pretending to lick his gloved hand and rub the back of his non-existent ears. Nightmare's not dense, he knew straight away Dream was acting out a cat, however he'd let Dream think he'd chosen a tricky one.

"Dog?"

"Nope."

"Hmm, bird?"

"Nope!" Dream giggled.

"Rattle snake?"

Dream burst into a fit of laughter, shaking his head no. Nightmare pretended to think real hard.

"Cat?"

"Yes!" Dream cheered, clapping his hands. "Now it's your turn!"

Nightmare hummed, choosing an animal and beginning to flap his arms.

"This is easy!" Dream boasted. "Fish!"

Nightmare ceased movement, staring at Dream with a baffled expression. Where did he get fish from?

"No."

Dream tilted his head, watching Nightmare flap his arms again in amusement.

"Bird?"

Nightmare nodded, giving a small cheer. Dream grinned widely at that.

"My turn again!" Dream immediately pushed himself forwards, so that he was hanging from the branch by his legs. Nightmare's eyes widened before he realised his brother hadn't fallen and relaxed. He adjusted his position so that he could peer down at Dream with a look of puzzlement.

Dream grinned up at him. "Pretend I'm sleeping and have wings."

A few seconds of silence passed until Nightmare understood.

"Bat."

Dream made a noise of approval, clapping. Nightmare let out a small laugh, copying what Dream was doing and dangling beside him. The two guardians giggled at their childish behaviour, completely care-free. Dream shifted his gaze away from his brother, noticing the distant setting sun.

"It's getting pretty late." Dream mused, staring at the sun with a calm smile. Nightmare followed his line of sight, watching the sunset. The brothers remained in a comfortable silence for a few minutes, relishing in the serenity of the moment.

"Tell me a story, Night." Dream asked, yawning.

"No."

Dream made a grumbling noise.

"Please?" He begged. Nightmare glimpsed at him before sighing.

"Okay, fine."

Dream cheered happily, listening intently to what Nightmare said.

"Droom the dragon was-"

"It's me!" Dream interrupted.

"Hush. It's not you." Nightmare scolded playfully. "Droom the dragon was flying through the sky one day with his new friend, Nootmare."

"It's you!"

"No, my name is not Nootmare. No more interruptions."

Dream simply smiled in response, silently urging him to continue the story.

"Droom and Nootmare were flying together, discussing how their lives were. Droom was very popular amongst the dragons and had many friends. He told Nootmare about how nice it was to be appreciated by so many people."

Dream continued to listen, intrigued.

"This made Nootmare sad, though. He reluctantly told Droom about how lonely he was. Nobody liked Nootmare and nobody wanted to be his friend. Everyone hated him and he didn't understand why."

Dream frowned, feeling sorry for the dragon.

"Droom had tried to cheer Nootmare up and the two promised to be best friends forever. This made Nootmare happy- he finally had a friend."

Dream smiled again, proud of Droom.

"But when Droom invited Nootmare to play with him and the other dragons, they didn't like it. They didn't express their hate in words towards Nootmare since Droom was here, however they sent him glares and would whisper horrible things to him."

Dream's smile fell. "What else did the other dragons do?'

Nightmare raised a non-existent eyebrow, surprised by the question.

"Uh, the dragons would try and lead Droom away from Nootmare so they could say hateful things and take their anger out on the dragon. This made Nootmare really sad and lonely so when they led Droom away, he would fly away as fast as he could away from the mean dragons."

Dream had a distant look in his eyes.

"Droom eventually realised the other dragons were upsetting Nootmare and tried to tell them to be nice to him- Nootmare was a good dragon and there was nothing wrong with him. But the dragons wouldn't listen."

Dream glanced at Nightmare sadly.

"But Nootmare didn't care anymore. Nootmare decided to ignore the mean dragons and try and spend as much time as possible with Droom because he made him feel safe and happy. Droom was the best thing in Nootmare's life and without him, Nootmare would be forever sad and loney- maybe even dead by the mean dragons."

Dream remained quiet as Nightmare finished the story.

"Did you enjoy the story?" He asked, tilting his head. Dream met his gaze and offered him a grin, nodding.

"Yeah, Droom and Nootmare are awesome!" He beamed. Nightmare chuckled softly, noticing how dark it had become.

"Hey come on, let's go to bed." Nightmare instructed, swinging himself back up onto the branch. Dream made a noise of agreement, being pulled up onto the branch with his brothers help.

"You should tell me more stories about Droom and Nootmare." Dream commented, smiling. Nightmare hummed in response. "Yeah, maybe."

The two teleported back into their house in front of Dream's bedroom. Nightmare always tucked Dream into bed like the good and caring brother he is. He always took on the big brother role, though they were created into existence at the same time.

Dream entered his room and clicked his fingers, changing into his pyjamas. He hopped into bed and waited patiently for his brother. Nightmare smiled softly, stepping forwards and covering Dream with the bed cover- entirely covering him. Dream huffed, tossing the blanket downwards from off his face, glaring playfully at the chuckling Nightmare.

"Goodnight Dream, sweet dreams." He mumbled softly. Dream grinned sleepily up at him.

"Goodnight Nightmare, I hope you have no nightmares." He replied tiredly, letting out a long yawn. Nightmare let out a breath of amusement, poking Dream between the eye-sockets.

"I love you, weirdo."

"I love you too," Dream murmured, watching as Nightmare began to exit the room. "Nootmare."

Nightmare froze for a moment, glancing back at his brother who had his eyes shut and seemed to have already drifted away. Nightmare sighed, leaving the room and closing the door behind him.
