"Being alone hurts worse than pain." His Luffy was dead?

"AAAAAAAAHHH!" He shouted, effectively waking up everyone in the room that wasn't unconscious, not that he cared right at this moment as images of two young boys flashed before his eyes and his vision blurred and gained a black border.

At once Ace shot up and shot a flame pillar towards Sabo who managed to dodge instinctively. Luffy was pulled away from him and towards Ace who jumped out of the bed, while ash inquired about his identity. Sabo however couldn't make sense of the words the others uttered. His eyes were glued to the unconscious form of the little kid.

"Luffy..." He whispered as he took a shaky step towards the unconscious boy in Ace's arms. With a snarl Ace jumped back, unwilling to fight in such a cramped room filled with medical equipment, but also unwilling to let some stranger touch his brother. He did his best not to jostle him too much, but while moving Luffy several cables fell to the floor due to the movement and a single shrill sound filled the room, halting all of their movements. The ventilator machine keeping Luffy alive had been disconnected.

"Luffy!" Ace cried desperately.

Sabo's eyes widened at the sound and he turned towards one of the screen that now showed a flatline. He couldn't breathe anymore as more and more memories of his childhood flashed in front of his eyes. Blindly he reached for Luffy and almost fell but was steadied by marco who had appeared at his side and was again saying something. His head pounded and the room began to spin. Ace... Luffy... his Luffy was... dead?

"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGHHH!" Sabo screamed again before his body gave in and he toppled over and fell towards the fire-man.

"Sabo san!" Marco caught him and pulled him away from Ace and Luffy.

"Sabo?!" Ace couldn't believe his ears. His flames almost came back full force, only the knowledge that Luffy would be hurt kept him from losing it.

"What the hell is going on here?" Tate slammed the door open and shouted from top of her lungs.

"Lay luffy down!" the head nurse tate ordered not even waiting for an answer. She surveyed the damage done to the room and glared at Marco who was holding another unconscious body. "And put that one in a bed as well!"

She checked over luffy, well it's good that ace didn't move much away from bed and all the iv lines were still connected to his hand. She injected medicine in luffy's iv line.

She again put ventilator on luffy's mouth. She nodded towards Ace to let him know Luffy was still as well as he could be.

Her attention went back to the blond, whom Marco had just placed on the other bed. "Take of his shoes and put the blanket over him. He's sweating buckets! Most likely has a fever. Stop adding more work!"

"And who is he?? " She asked as she check his nerves.

"Well his name is sabo and he is from revolutionary army " Marco said.

"Is this a joke?!" Ace yelled. "What the hell are you playing at?"

"Calm down!!" Marco laid a hand on Ace's burning shoulder to keep him from acting rashly. As a phoenix he could easily deal with whatever Ace hit him with.

"No.. he can't be sabo, he has blonde hair but he is not sabo my brother... Our brother, sabo died long ago" ace whispered. It's too much he is having a headache now.

"Calm down ace, I don't want another patient, don't worry he will wake up soon and then you can ask him whatever you want okay, now everybody get out from here including you ace you need some rest me and ash will take care of luffy" tate said as she shooed all of them out

"Ash I will be right back, can you put a cold towel on that blonde's head please " she asked and went out of the room.

3 days later..

Sabo slept for three days straight. During these days he'd had an incredibly high fever that only let up around midday of the third day. While Sabo was processing long forgotten memories. Ace stood watch over Luffy and him as well now.

" He will be waking up soon now and about luffy he is improving alot just 2-3 days and he will as good as he was before" tate said and left them alone.

"Where am I?" Sabo's raspy voice cut through the silence of the infirmary.

"In the infarmary of mobydick " Ace's voice came from Luffy's bedside.

"Hii ace" sabo said awkwardly.

This is bad, Sabo mused. His brother looked like he would seriously kill him if he said something more stupid, which is everything that will come out of his mouth. "I'm sorry!"

Ace just glared at him raising his eyebrows.

"Ace i know it's hard to believe but I'm sabo your brother and i did not die that day" sabo said nervously.

Thanks to his instinct he was able to dodge the fire fist that came his way.

"You want me to believe that crap , you asshole stop using my brother's identity" ace yelled in sabo's face as he grabbed his coller forcing him to stand-up.

"You stole sake from dadan and we drink together and became brothers." Sabo said staring dead in his(ace) eyes.

Ace stumbled a little. Eyes widened.

Few minutes later.

Sabo nervously looked at ace, he is feeling alot better now and he apparantly got all of his memories back but the way ace is glaring he can tell that ace is going to kill him.

Sabo sweatdropped at the murderous glare Ace is giving him. He took a step back when Ace walked towards him, still in his flaming glory.

"Ace, calm down!" Sabo's hands are up in a placating manner, hoping he could defuse the walking bomb he calls his brother.

"Calm down?!" Ace screeched. "Where the hell have you been?!"

"I... I'm sorry." Sabo was at a loss. He had only just received his memories back. Every feeling he had from back then was still very fresh to him now.

"Back then I saw no other way... I didn't even know how I thought before I woke up with the revolutionists. I only knew I felt caged. I'm sorry I left you. I'm sorry you thought I died, I remember writing a letter to tell you I left, so you wouldn't worry."

"We got the letter, but we were also told that a celestial dragon shot you. I never wanted to feel that way again And now you suddenly reappear from the dead. I honestly felt like hitting you and beat you up good."

He was extremely happy, but just as angry as well, which was never a good combination for him. He reacted violently when he was confused. But damn, Sabo should have taken them along as well! How could he have ever thought that leaving Luffy with him was a good idea? Luffy had the ability to piss him off like no other back then. It had taken Luffy almost dying before to completely change this. Now there was no question about just how much he loved his brother.

" Our little brother cried for days and he didn't even ate anything for days and just kept crying. And me, I was so stupid sabo instead of taking care of our brother I was in my own world. I was tied to the tree because I refused to believe that you die leaving luffy all alone." Ace said, he feel guilty whenever he think about it.

Sabo had no trouble imagining Ace to react by hitting him. As a matter of fact, it was exactly what he had expected the other boy to do. Though Ace was no boy anymore, just like he himself was not ten anymore either.

"I missed so much." The realization hit him like a ton of bricks.

"You did. We missed so much as well. I changed my mind about hitting you. I will beat the shit out of you later. We'd only be wasting time if we argued. Also I'd have to explain things to Luffy when he wakes up, if you ended up in the infirmary as well and I'm rather fond of my ears. You can explain yourself to him instead."

"Can't you at least soften the blow?" Sabo begged. He really didn't want to explain things to Luffy, especially not if the other hadn't gotten any warning. Ace had a bit of time at least. The look Ace gave him told him his answer well enough.

"You thought it was a good idea to leave us. While I may not blame you for wanting to escape and getting hurt, that is still something you should have thought over!" Ace declared.

"And really, what have you been thinking, leaving Luffy with me, when it was clear he liked you better and always came to you for help!"

(This is the continuation of previous part I thought of writing it like chapter 25 1/3, 2/3, 3/3 but then decided to write it like chapters and I hope it's not weird that I'm ending chapters in middle 😂)
