I look to Sprite approaching slowly and cautiously. Druig nods to me as I slide his hands off my sides. I step towards Sprite and her eyes water as she stares at me.

I sigh and quickly walk to her. I hug her tightly as she sobs "i'm sorry.. i'm so sorry, gaia."

Closing my eyes as I hold her tightly to me shaking my head I say "Don't. It's okay. I understand. Sprite, I still love you. You're still family."

She sobs "I didn't want to hurt anyone. I just... I just wanted everything that the others had. I just wanted to be normal, like everyone else."

I nod sadly "I know. And you deserved that life too." She looks to me saying "Is he gone?" Referring to Ikaris

I frown squeezing in the hug tighter saying "Yes, I'm sorry." She nods sadly and heaves a shaky breath as she cries into my shoulder.

Sersi steps towards me and says "Sprite,... Gaia and I, we still have energy from the uni-mind. I think together, we can make you human."

Sprite slowly removes herself from my embrace to look at Sersi while my expression drops and I feel the sudden amount of tears cloud my vision.

I look to Sprite as her bottom lip quivers and I see her pain from the years of being overlooked or undeserving. All she ever wanted was a normal life and to be loved.

I sigh as Sersi says "All the things you said you wanted, you can have them."

Sprite looks to me quickly with hope but sadness in her expression. I put my hands on her shoulders saying "Your time would be fleeting and you'll die one day. I'll lose you one day.."

She looks down and I say shakily "Are you ready for that?"

She says "I am."

I close my eyes momentarily and swipe my tears away as I remove my hands from Sprites shoulders.

I shake my head saying "God. I'm not ready for this. This is your choice. It's your life and you'll finally get to live it the way you desire."

Druig says through my thoughts "It's what she wants. It's all she's ever wanted. And you get to give her that life, my love."

I look to Druig and he gives me a nod. I give him a strained smile and nod. I mouth the words "i love you."

I look to sprite and nod quickly through the tears to her, agreeing to her quicker death.

I smile sadly saying "You're all grown up now. You don't need me anymore."

She laughs through her tears saying "Not yet. I'll still need you a little bit. I think I'll always need you."

I squeeze Sersi's hand and I slide my hand to Sprite.

Sersi follows suit and I can feel the power humming through our body as I look to each of the eternals around us. Each member of the family having a different expression.

Makkari holding a smile with tears as she feels a mix of emotions.

Phastos with a somber sadness.

Thena with a peaceful expression, putting my mind at ease as I look to it. Her calmness and stoic expression resonating within me.

Then, my druig, smiling to me as Sersi and I give Sprite everything she's ever wanted.

I choke on a sob as Sprite pulls away. Sersi says "It's done."

Sprite hugs me tightly and I nearly become a pile of mush. I can't believe I have to attend her funeral one day.

Why couldn't Arishem just have made her apperance our age?

Why did I have to lose another piece of my family?

Sprite looks to the others and hesitantly and I plaster on a happy smile for her. Druig looks to me and I quickly step towards him.

Stepping into his embrace as I reach my hand towards Makkari. She looks to the others as she squeezes my hand reassuringly.

1 week later:

I sit on the red leather couch wiping my hot cheeto hands on the throw pillow and looking to the door as it opens. I hear the sound of three voices going back and forth as they walk closer.

"And I told Ryan Reynolds that he can't go around kissing other men like Andrew Garfield. That should be me kissing him at award shows."

"Hot. Hot man."

"Not hotter than you sir."

"He's a close third though."

Kingo screams in fear as he fires a cosmic ball of power towards me. I hold my hand up hitting it down and yawning. "Hello."

Kingo says annoyed "Jesus christ! Gaia! You can't scare me like that! What the hell are you doing here? I thought the world was ending."

I nod saying "Sersi and I saved it."

"But I thought Ikaris-"

"Ikaris is dead." I say bluntly and emotionlessly.

Kingo's smiling expression drops and the glass from his hand and it shatters on the ground. The girl gasps and says "Kingo!"

Kingo looks to me saying "What? Ikaris is dead? How? Did you kill.. Ikaris?"

I scoff saying "You think so lowly of me?"

"No. I know how highly you think of the earth and how much you adore it. You would do anything to save it. Including killing Ikaris. The man who ruined your life. Took you away from your family and erased everything you once knew. Who's one of us.."

I sigh saying "He was one of us. Ikaris wasn't killed, he killed himself alright? At least I believe so. I don't blame him for ruining my life. I blame that on Arishem and Ajak. Ikaris tried to stop it, eventually. I guess. Nevermind that. Do we really have to talk about this in front of them?"

Kingo looks to Karun and the woman saying "Oh, she doesn't understand a word of what we're saying."

I roll my eyes saying "As you can tell, my memory is also restored. I am back to being the real Gaia."

He smiles saying "No way. Great to see you again, G."

He hugs me tightly and says "Now don't die. okay? Y'know, we're running low on eternals currently."

I furrow my eyebrows at him saying "I won't? There's more we need to talk about, it's about Sprite."

He says "Oh god... the old bird didn't survive either.. WHY? WHY GOD WHY?"

My eyes widen at his dramatics and I say "She's not dead. Not yet. Sersi and I had enough power to give her the life she's always wanted. She gets to live as a human and be a human. She'll age and eventually... she'll die."

He says "Oh. Uh. Wow the hits just keep coming lately don't they? First Ajak, then Gilgamesh, Ikaris too, and now Sprite. Fucking hell. This hurts. God it really does."

I nod saying "She has like 80 years, Kingo."

"ONLY 80 YEARS!? But that's so quick. I'm not ready for a life without her meanness. Or her stories. God her stories used to be so beautiful and I could just listen to them for hours."

I shake my head saying "She's not dead yet. Jesus. Anyway, back to my original point before your dramatics. She doesn't want to stay with Druig and I as we travel the galaxy. Hence why I'm here. She wishes to stay on earth. Live the glorious human life that Druig simply despises. And I thought of you. Briefly. Think you're capable of not abandoning her this time?"

He scoffs saying "Ouch. That really hurt, actually. Didn't have to come at me like that. I'm honestly offended. That was so passive aggressive. Haven't seen that side of you in a long time."

"I'd say it was just the beginning of my anger but I need an answer Mr. Hollywood."

"Sure! I can play house for awhile. Be a soccer dad. Grill dad. I won't be wearing the new balance 530's and be a lawn mowing dad."

I smile at his stupid joke and say "I'm sure Sprite with find that suitable, I guess. Especially since you'll give her a credit card."

"What? Who says she gets a credit-"

I glare at him saying "You wouldn't want Sprite to not have money to go shopping with friends or buy basic needs now would we?"

He nods saying "She'll have a credit card."

I nod saying "Good. There's other rules and guidelines I'm going to need to have you follow."

He scoffs and says "I think I know what I'm doing, Gaia. I've only spent thousands of years with.."

I grab his shoulder scorching the shoulder of the suit and he winces "Fine! Fine! Tell me the rules."

I let go of his shoulder saying "She goes to school. She gets the whole teenager experience. You help her but still give her respect."

He nods saying "Easy. I don't know how she'll take going to school. But I'll let you break that to her."

I look to Karun saying "I need your background check and driving history. If he doesn't run clean you'll need to hire a new driver."

Kingo says "That's where I draw the line! Karun has worked with me for many years! I am his walking background check!"

I look over to Karun and I look back to Kingo "Kingo. I will personally walk you to the gates of Hel if anything happens to Sprite. Moving on, she's gonna need a cell phone and she'll need a new wardrobe."

He nods saying "Now that I can handle. Easily."

"And the most important rule, don't abandon her and don't be a bad influence on her. She's smart and has a good future. I will ruin you if you falter her aspirations."

He nods saying "Very motherly of you. I can see it very clearly."

I sigh saying "Sisterly more than anything. Motherly may have just been a trait Ajak pushed upon me."

He narrows his eyes at me saying "In previous lives you've had children. Correct?"

I nod saying "Well... yes. Nina and.."

He interrupts me saying "Kids aren't for me. No offense."

I roll my eyes saying "Too much responsibility. I'm leaving you with Sprite. She's basically the child of everyone in the eternals. So don't muck this up okay?"

He nods saying "Fine, yeah. I'll try my best."

I smile saying "Good. Sersi and I will drop her off in a week. Text Sersi for more details. I have a wedding to plan." That got Kingo's attention. He looks to me as I stand up from the couch. "What'd you say?"

"Hm? What are you asking?"

"Wedding? Who's wedding?"

I smile as I step out the door saying "Well, you'll just have to wait for the invite, Kingo."

"I better receive one!"

"mmhm. You'll receive it. Eventually."

I retreat back to the others as Kingo sighs as he steps back inside. He looks to Karun and says "She's infuriating. Right?"

Karun nods saying "Yes. But I really do find her funny and kind, sir."

"It's an act. She's evil. She didn't even invite me to her-" He stops mid sentence as he notices a white card on his breakfast bar. He quickly looks down to it and smiles widely.

The white daisy's in the corner of the invite. Smiling at the significance and looking to the words.

hiiiiiii! Slipping through my fingers fits this chapter SO WELL. It's crazy, even if I may have used it for another chapter! so... sad but happy chapter! cute right? hehe so much fluff. It took so much for me to not make this an argumentive chapter. But I like this better... i think. I have a few more tricks up my sleeves so be on your toes. Book is quickly finishing up... finally I guess. I'm gonna miss it dearly though!
