EIGHT

Meanwhile, Na-yeon finally opened the storage room door and looked around, seeing a few stuck zombies.

Carefully, she went over to the one stuck under the piano, it kept hitting the keys and making noise.

Once she successfully got the camera stand in between its feet the noises that came from the piano stopped.

Thinking she was safe, she went over and got the camera but as soon as it made a small noise zombies came rushing in.

Running back to the storage room, she started watching the recordings they left. Whether she realized what she did was wrong or Dae-su's singing convinced her, she grabbed a bag and started filling it with food.

She paused once it came to Cheong-San's part.

"Gyeong-su wanted to work at our restaurant, remember? But I said no because he'd try to eat free chicken every day. I should have just let him do it."

Maybe her conscious was forcing her to remember what she's done or maybe it was taunting her, in the corner of the room was Gyeong-su.

Guilt was what she felt, tears started pouring from her eyes.

"Go. Go. Please go."

"You killed me."

Throwing the bag towards him, he suddenly disappeared.

Na-yeon was breathing heavily as she sat back down and leaned against the shelf.

Adding more wood to the small fire, On-jo spoke up.

"How long have you been smoking?"

"Since eighth grade." Y/n could've told them she smoked as well but she'd still rather keep it to herself.

She wanted it to stay a secret but Gwi-nam knew and so did the group she was with earlier.

"I had no friends and a lot of stress back then."

"Did you ever need a friend, though?"

"I'm not sure, I can't really tell."

"You always put up a wall. You'd wear your headphones all day and never said anything. Wasn't it because you hated us?"

Whether they wanted the conversation to be private everyone amongst them heard it and listened.

"I never hated you guys. I just didn't have any friends."

Instead of listening any longer Y/n scooted back and laid in a starfish position. The cold concrete was rather pleasant but it was still slightly uncomfortable since concrete is quite hard.

Since Y/n was sitting next to Joon-yeong, he stared at her for a few seconds while she hadn't a clue.

While Y/n wasn't paying attention, their whole conversation shifted towards something that caught Y/n's attention.

"Wait a second, do you like me?"

"Shut up, you moron!"

"I was just putting it out there, so you don't get hurt. I like somebody else so don't like me."

"I'm not interested in you at all."

"Dae-su. Who do you like, then?"

"His sister." Su-hyeok pointed at Woo-jin.

"Ha-ri from Archery? You're crazy."

Her eyes widened before she sat up, are they still alive? They better be, after all, Y/n said she'd kick their zombie asses if they turn.

"I go crazy when I'm in love. She's like my little Cupid."

"Stop it. If we get out of here alive, I'm gonna tell my sister." Woo-jin kept laughing at what Dae-su said.

"Will you really tell her? Tell her what?"

"To shoot and kill you. I said not to like my sister."

Reaching over Su-hyeok, Dae-su grabbed Woo-jin trying to put him in a neck lock.

"You can't do that to me, future brother-in-law."

Staring at the bag she threw, Ms. Park's words kept repeating in her head.

Do at least one thing to help them, you understand?

Getting up, she started putting the food that fell out back in the bag and decided to leave the music room.

Looking at the room one last time, she turned around only to be met with Gwi-nam.

"What's that?"

"It's.. nothing."

"Well, I have to go to the roof. But the doors locked. So I'm going that way."

"You're not a zombie, are you?"

"Zombie? Fuck that. Is that food? Are you hungry? Are you, huh?"

Instead of responding she brought the bag closer to her and backed away.

"Are you hungry?" Since he kept walking closer, she hesitantly nodded yes.

"Me too." Before she could scream, Gwi-nam grabbed her by the shoulders and bit her neck.

Instead of a quick bite, he just kept eating her minute after minute making a bloody mess. On himself and the floor.

Once he finished his meal, he opened the window and saw a pipe (?), which would help him make it to the top.

Grudgingly he started climbing, grunting now and then.

Once Cheong-San confessed, On-jo walked to the corner of the roof leaving the area behind tense.

Y/n can't believe how oblivious On-jo is, he always went to her when things went bad, and he always made sure she wasn't injured, so how did she not see it?

Cheong-San was fond of Y/n but he knew On-jo more, they were friends before this apocalypse started.

While Cheong-San walked over toward On-jo, Y/n looked up and spoke.

"Aren't the stars pretty tonight?"

The group, minus two, all looked up. Nam-ra pointed out a constellation and they all held small smiles.

It was a nice moment, a moment where nobody had to panic over zombies getting them, a moment where they felt like normal high school students.

Yet their moment was cut short as On-jo's gasp was heard.

"On-jo!" Cheong-San started running towards the two.

When Gwi-nam let go of On-jo, he started running towards Cheong-San and body-dropped him.

Once again going for his eyes.

"Give me your eye, asshole."
