-First chapter-

Karen's birthday was today. The shouts of hurrahs and joy could be heard from all over the neighbourhood. Karen was the jewel of the neighbourhood. Absolutely loved, adored, and cared for. She was turning 13 that day. And she could not be more excited. A big, bright smile settled on her face as the wrinkles around her eyes came out from their hiding a little bit. The people surrounding made her feel the warmth of love, and the love she feels for them radiates off her body. Everybody clapped. They cheered, giving her and everyone else heartwarming smiles. On this day, everyone was clearly in a joyous mood.

When Karen gets to make a wish, and blow out the candles that holds the flame of her wish, she sighed. She wanted to wish for a ton of things. But her parents have always told her to wish for one thing and one thing only. A person should not be filled with selfish wishes, their words repeated in her head. She shut her eyes, positioned her face to be in front of the candle flames. I wish to explore every single thing a teenage will, and find out things no one will ever know. She smiled, and blew the candles out. She opened her eyes, and watched as the burnt dust filled with her hopeful wishes get swept away by the wind.

The cheers erupted around her. But all were muffled, as she noticed a shadow trap the smoke in a jar. She shook her head, snapping out of her gaze. The cheers increased in volume as she turned to pay attention to them. She started laughing as she saw a small little girl tugging at her dress. She smiled warmly down at her, ending her laugh with a short sigh. The little girl dragged her out to play, and she obliged.

Who knew, that one wish, one sight, one day, can change everything?
