Chapter 11.

-Eleventh chapter-

Karen doesn't want this life. Kerri is depressed, losing both her friends. Krev, Krev was gone. Forever. Karen was forever alone. Kerri is alone forever too. Everyone was sad. Karen's mother, Krev's parents, Kerri, their friends in school. Kerri will cry tears of despair. She has grow to be insomniac, thinking about all the memories of their friendship. Karen continues feeding off rats. No, let me rephrase. The demon had been feeding off rats.

The shadow has been out hunting, it has hunted many humans. For the demon to devour. For Karen to lose control and eat the innocent human. Karen felt disgusted, with the demon, yes, but mostly with herself. Why can't she control herself, hold the demon back? She couldn't understand, she was a strong, perseverant and determined girl. Ever since young. It was hard, looking at all the people struggle, listening to them scream in agonising pain. She couldn't bear those. It was etched in her mind forever, scarring her for life.

It wasn't something to be proud of. Krev knew. He betrayed his friend, allowed the shadow to take advantage of him. Telling him, no, lying to him about how Karen back stabbed him. Betraying him, and now he was the one who betrayed her. It all turned out so differently. He was stuck. In a basement, a prison-like room.  He wasn't dead, and he hoped Karen knew that. He just hoped, wishing she could, maybe, save him. And bring him out from his guilt. Which was impossible. That was when the door opened, the lock made a click sound. He turned around, finding him faced to face with...nothing. He turned to the wall. Shadow. The shadow grabbed him, he thought The Shadow will set him free. But they went downstairs instead. They got to a steel door, it opened, and a flight of stairs was there. He was dragged down and got met, face to face with the one and only... Karen.

Karen only stared back at him, not saying a word. Krev watched her with hopeful eyes, as she set there with a hint of anger and betrayal in her eyes. Krev felt guilt, extreme guilt. He would do anything, anything at all to make her forgive him. Then, with tears in her eyes, threatening to fall but didn't, Karen walked to him. "Krev?" Her voice cracked, she sounded so depressed. Krev's heart ached, knowing that he caused the pain of his bestie. One of the only few to accept his twisted interest.

"Krev! You're alive!!"  Karen exclaimed in happiness.

Karen rushed to Krev, flinging herself into his warm embrace. She didn't feel alone for once. But it only lasted for a few seconds before Krev had to go again. Apparently this was a short meeting. How kind for the shadow to do this for her and Krev...
