Meeting Up

Kiara: We got done with the ice cream and we were wondering where to go. I really wanted to see Reine. Even though it had been only a few hours, it felt like it had been weeks since I last saw her.

I got a text from her detailing our meeting spot but she requested to meet with me alone. I knew what she wanted to discuss. It was about Mumei but I wasn't too worried about that.

"Calli, I'm going to meet up with Reine and then we'll meet up with you afterwards!" I told her and she sighed but gave me her approval.

"Kiara, as long as you are safe, it's fine." Calli said I told her it wasn't a trap, that everything would be fine, and that we'd just have a nice family discussion.

"Kiara, you're leaving already?" Ame asked, confused, since she thought we were going to help my mother afterwards.

"I'll be back soon," I told her, shifting into a bird and flying to the meet up spot, seeing Reine was waiting for me.

"Reine, what is it you want to discuss?" I asked. She looked at me smiling.

"First of all, do you trust what Zeta told you?" She asked. I nodded. I could tell she felt relieved that she wasn't the only one that believed her.

"So do Subaru-senpai and Lui-nee know yet?" She asked. I shook my head.
I told her, "Lui-nee was only informed about the second half. If she was told the first part, she would be devastated."

"Well, we're just lucky that this time she was spared, but next time could be different," she told me. I wholeheartedly agreed. However, we didn't know when or where the next attack would be.

"I'm grateful to Zeta, though she seems like a good friend and she has morals." I said Reine agreed with me.

"So I heard Oga told you something. What was it?" I asked Reine, who shot up in excitement.

She began to tell me what Oga had said, nodding in anticipation of the upcoming events, but I quickly changed the subject.

"So have you and Ollie gotten together yet?" I asked. Reine was confused about how I knew about their deal.

"I just guessed you and Ollie seemed compatible. Ollie is rude though," I said, remembering what she had said to me back before Calli apologized

"I'm sorry for what Ollie said, but one day you two may be sisters, so try to get over it," Reine said. I looked at her slyly.

"So you're saying that you are thinking about getting with her, Reine," I teased, to her dismay.

"No, she's such a hideous, disgusting being, a beautiful specimen like me would never!" She blurted out. I rolled my eyes at her obvious lie.

"Haven't you always liked ugly things though?" I asked if she grew red from that question, avidly denying that statement.

"Reine, I know everything about you. We have a tight bond. You can't hide your true feelings from me." I said

She groaned, knowing I was right, but she wasn't ready to confess her love because she didn't want Ollie to win their bet, but if she waited, Ollie would probably give up on trying to get me to love her. I didn't want her to forget about me.

Reine, all you have to do is kiss her because you aren't confessing unless you say you love her verbally."I told her she grinned at the thought of winning through that technicality.

"What if that fails?" Reine asked.
Well, if it fails, you now have a girlfriend, so you don't lose this bet no matter what. I told her she nodded

Ollie apparently didn't make any punishments for the losers, so this would just end with them either getting together or not getting together. It was a win win. No party lost with this bet.

"How was it meeting up with your friends again?" I asked. She looked at me.

"You sound like Mumei." She told me she wasn't wrong. She would have asked that question just to find out more about us because she is a really nosy owl.

I really wanted to talk more, but Calli was probably worrying about me, so I wanted to see her. I knew how much Reine was enjoying our alone time, though. I wanted to have a little family outing at some point when life wasn't hitting us like a truck.

"Reine, let's go on vacation at some point." I suggested she liked that idea since she would get to spend more time with us as a family, and we all knew it was best for fellow birds to stick together for safety.

"Kiara, let's go meet up with the others." Reine said as we made our way to Calli and the rest.

We flew so we would get there faster. Somehow, we seemed to make it to our meet up spot before the others, which worried me. I pulled out my phone and called Calli, but she didn't pick up. It seemed like my signal was being jammed by something.

"Reine, you try to call someone," I said.
Reine pulled out her phone, noticing a tiny device attached to it. She pulled it off and a
hologram of Zeta appeared.

Reine, I left this on your phone just because we forgot to exchange numbers before you left, so I will tell you the number. Call me once you see this," the hologram Zeta spoke.

Reine called the number Zeta gave her only to be met by a familiar voice, but we couldn't talk for long as we saw Calli on the horizon.

"See you tomorrow!" I said, hearing our sister giggle, she seemed like she was in a good mood. Maybe death does that to you.

"Kiara, who were you talking to?" Calli asked, walking up to us, also surprised we were already here.

"No one in particular," I told her...
