I smiled at the flowers I found on my desk after going to the printer room.

"Some delivery guy dropped those off for you" Greg said.

I checked the message that was next to them.

'Love you

-Sebastian'

I placed the papers in my hands in my bag and put my phone in my bag too then took all my stuff with me to the elevator.

"Was it from Sebastian?" He asked.

"Yeah, he's so cute" I smiled to myself.

"So how are you guys?" Greg asked.

"I don't know, I feel like I've been pulling myself away from him"

"You should just try and get to know him better if you don't trust him"

"I never said I don't trust him!" I said a bit too quickly.

"I thought-" he scrunched his eyebrows up a bit. "I don't know"

"Sorry Greg, I just feel a little tense lately" I apologised. "i'll see you tomorrow" I smiled.

He just waved at me and went back  to typing away on his computer.

I stood in the elevator watching the numbers go down and they stopped at ground 3 where Kamila stepped in.

"Hey" I smiled, "What are you doing on this floor?"

"I was just grabbing something from Lucy in finances." she replied clicking 9 for the top floor. "Are you leaving already?"

"Kinda, I'm showing houses to this couple with a baby on the way and we are looking at house number 3"

"Are they okay people?"

"Yeah, they seem really excited about it and they're super nice. They're your age as well."

"Don't get started, I'll settle down when I found a real black man"

"I didn't even say anything" I laughed as a lady got in from the second floor.

"Did you ask Sebastian about his assistant?"

"No, why would I do that?" I asked. It made no sense to ask him if I didn't believe it one bit.

"Just to see if the rumour was true."

"It's a rumour?"

"Kind of, but only within the assistant type people, those girls love to talk about their bosses" Kamila said trying to lighten the mood. "You should ask him though"

"Yeahhh, no. I trust him, and he'll get mad if I even ask him. Let's just drop it aight."

"Lola -"

"I said drop it"  I walked out of the elevator and left the building heading to my car.

I put the flowers in the back seat with my bag and started drove to the house I was showing the couple today.

NO ONES POV

"Thank you for the flowers" Lola spoke into her phone. She sat in her living room eating ice cream and watching fresh prince.

"No problem baby"

"What's the occasion?"

"I can't get my baby flowers just because I love her?"

"I'm just asking, making sure you didn't think today was my birthday or something."

"I know when your birthday is"

"So are you gonna come over today?" Lola asked playing with the string on her hoodie.

"I'm working late, someone messed up the paperwork for a building we're working on and we have to start that section from scratch.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Don't stress yourself out"

"I won't, talk to you later?"

"Okay, love you"

"Bye, love you too."

Lola sighed and grabbed her purse. She was going to ask him to bring over some takeaway since she didn't have any food, so she decided to go to McDonalds.

She took 5 minutes since she was in a rush and didn't want to be seen. She was wearing her grey oversized hoodie and grey leggings with slides and her hair was sighed up in a messy bun. She listened to some Comethazine in her earphones and bumped along to the music as she payed for her food with the machines.

She felt large hands touch her on the waist and she turned around quickly dropping her phone out of her pocket, but the earphones held onto them so it didn't hit the floor.

"I'm so sorry" Michael laughed.

"Are you serious?" Lola laughed picking her phone up.

"I'm sorry" he continued laughing, "Why'd you freak out so much?"

"Because I felt a random pair of hands on my waist" Lola shrugged.

"I was about to tickle you, but you didn't even give me time"

"Well, I'm sorry you missed that opportunity, where do we go from here?" she said sassily.

Michael shrugged, "I'l have other chances, it's all good."

"What are you even doing here?"Lola asked.

"I'm getting food, what else am I supposed to do here."

"I don't know" Lola said accusingly, "The two times I actually come here, you also just happen to be here"

"Don't try and make me look like a stalker, I'm lazy and I don't always like to cook. Shoot me" he said sarcastically.

"You can cook?" Lola asked.

"Yeah I can cook, this year I learned how to make spaghetti bolognese" he grinned.

"Aww, Michael can cook" Lola pinched his cheek.

"Quit alla that, acting like you're older than me" he stood up straight" Why are you here?"

"I don't have any food at home and I'm hungry, I really need to go grocery shopping" Lola said.

"I need to get some stuff too, you can come with me afterwards, I brought my car."

"Okay" Lola smiled.

After they got their food they sat down to eat in and talk a bit.

"Do you think you'd get a promotion any time soon?" Michael asked.

"Well, they're pretty slow at moving people up and there's been loads of people that have been working there longer than me so I don't know" Lola shrugged."I like the job I'm doing though, I just wish they'd give me the better houses. Not the little apartments that have cockroaches in the walls."

"I don't know how you've managed to get people to move into places like that"

"I feel so bad" Lola laughed, "We make the place look nice and all, but after a while they might come back if the people that move in aren't clean.

"You're just doing your job though"

"Anyway, enough about that" Lola said taking a big slurp from her milkshake. "Whats this I hear about you still being single."

Michael tilted his head to the side, he didn't seem to like where the conversation was going.

"Girls just don't satisfy me, or my lifestyle."

"So you gay?" Lola spluttered, Michael choked on his burger and knocked over his drink.

"I'm so sorry." Lola laughed grabbing napkins and wiping his face then grabbing more to wipe the table as he picked up his drink. He sat up and looked at her. He had some of Lolas strawberry milkshake on his white tee and Lola's hoodie was drenched in his coca cola. She looked up at him and they stared at each other for a few seconds before they bust out laughing again.

"I am actually so sorry, I thought that's where the conversation was going" Lola said dabbing at his wet shirt.

"You not gonna sort yourself out," he said pointing at her hoodie.

"It's really thick so the juice is really in there, there's no point in trying to dab it." Lola laughed.

Michael grabbed the end of her hoodie and twisted it so that some coca cola splattered onto the floor.

A few of the other costumers looked at them clearly amused and Lola saw some of the staff looking over at them.

"Excuse me, we've had a spillage." she called making Michael laugh. "They can clearly see we had an issue I dunno why they're just staring"

***

"So why don't you have anyone in your life?" Lola asked.

"They exaggerated it to be honest, like I tried to meet some girls. But" He paused trying to think of the right words as he turned the corner into the parking lot of the supermarket. "They were boring, some of them were cool. But I wasn't that attracted to them. And I don't trust that many light skinned anymore after Jay." He joked.

"You should get out there a bit more" Lola suggested.

MICHAEL

But I still want you.

I rubbed my chin and looked at her after putting my brakes on and switching the engine off.

"What if I don't want to?"

"Are you not lonely?" She asked, her face softening.

"I'm good, don't worry about me?"

Lies. Lies, you don't know how bored I am bro.

"Are you sure?"

"I'm fine, I promise" The lights outside, shone onto her slender caramel face and her pink lips pouted as she looked at.

I just wanted to kiss her, right there and then.

"If you say so." she shrugged " I'm here for you though, if you wanna talk about anything"

"You sure that'll be okay with your boyfriend?" I chuckled.

"What?" she laughed.

"I mean, I am your ex" I laughed "Shit, if I was him I'd freak if I even found out you were here with me right now"

"You guys are so annoying" Lola shook her head, "I mean can we not just be friends?"

"I'm not saying that" I said "It's just, everyone would assume that we still like each other and we'd end up getting back together."

Lola just smiled at me, "Let them think whatever" she shrugged. She sat up and sighed a little pulling at her jumper.

"Why don't you just take it off?" I asked. The coca cola had made her jumper a dark grey.

"I'm not wearing anything under here" she blushed.

"It's not like it's something I ain't ever seen before" I joked.

"Aww shut up" she laughed getting out of the car.

I grabbed us a cart and and we headed into the supermarket.

"Wait" she said as I slowed down.

She jumped into the cart making me laugh.

"Don't just stand there, did you lose your muscles or something since we stopped dating?" she teased. "C'mon get to pushing"

I love this girl.

"Shit, what you been eating?"

I began pushing the cart quickly and we ran down to the cereal aisle first.

She pulled some cereals boxes into the cart and I chucked some stuff in too.

"What do you need to get?" I asked turning into another aisle.

"I didn't bring a list so if I see something I'll tell you to stop" She said.

We talked and went around the store picking stuff up every so often.

"No this jumper is way too sticky" Lola said taking the hoodie off over her head.

"You said you wasn't wearing anything."

She wore a lacey black bralette that looked cute on her, I forgot how tiny her waist was. Some of her curls fell out the back of her bun.

She tied the hoodie around her waist and stood up in the cart as I pushed it.

"You sure you not gonna fall out?"

"I'm good" she said flexing her tiny arms.

I sped up and she held the side of the carts.

"Slow down" she laughed.

I sped up and we began turning a corner making her fall out of the cart.

"Shit are you okay?" we laughed as some shoppers stared at us.

I helped her up and we put the stuff that fell out back into the cart.

"ugh, I think I hurt my leg" she laughed hopping on her right leg.

"Its okay" I rubbed her leg quickly.

"Oww" she kept laughing as I rubbed her leg. I kissed three of my fingers and placed it on her shin.

"All better."

She stood next to me as I pushed the cart around.

"We lost because of you"

"What?" She scrunched up her eyebrows as she always did when she was confused or being judgmental. "Oh the game night thingy" Lola smiled sadly "Mika was bragging to me about it, then Emmanuel faced time me just to brag about it too, at ! am. Can you imagine?" she rolled her eyes. "What happened? We were doing so good."

"Haley was really good and Kamila and Aniyah started arguing because Kamila kept messing up. It was fun, you shoulda stayed."

"Had to sort stuff out with Sebastian" she said looking away at some seasoning on the shelves.

After we finished shopping we packed our bags into the car.

"I missed you" Lola said randomly. "Like, I miss how fun we were."

I chuckled.

"Oh so you didn't miss me?"

"I don't even know how you're so chill with me, we used to be in love"

"It's been three years"

"So you don't find this shit awkward?" I asked stepping closer towards her so that not even a tiny mouse could squeeze past us. I licked my lips and sorted out the loose curl that was on the back of her head. She stood still and just watched me, like she wanted to know what I would do next. I grabbed her waist and began tickling her.

"Move" she laughed as my hands rode up her stomach, her face going red.

"I told you I'd find another chance." I stepped back and put more bags in the boot

We got into the car and my phone automatically connected and started playing Tadow.

"Oh my gosh, I love this song"

"If you start singing imma take it off" I laughed pulling out of the drive way.

***

"Tadooooww!" We sang as I helped her bring all of her bags up to her apartment.

"You ain't even scared your neighbours are gonna report you?" I said.

"Oh shit" she laughed. I couldn't help but watch her hips sway as she walked up the stairs.

"So when am I coming to your studio sessions?" she asked.

"Why would I let you come to my sessions?"

"Constructive criticism" she said turning around. Her bralette was modest but I could still see her nipples, I put the bags down for a little break.

She tried around to look at me fully.

"Don't say anything, your holding one bag and I'm holding three with some milk in it."

She pressed her lips together making me chuckle. I grabbed the bags and we kept going up the steps.

"Have you not gotten with a groupie at least once then?"

"What is it with you and my sex life?" I laughed.

"Im just curious"

We dropped the bags onto the floor when we got to her apartment and she looked for her keys in her hoodie pocket.

She dropped it so I bent down to pick it up making us bump heads. I stood up scratching the top of my head and realised  how close we were.

She seemed to look at me, like deep in thought, and she just stared at me. I remember how she used to do it randomly when we'd be watching a movie and she thought I didn't notice or when I was sleeping and I'd see her just smiling at me then close my eyes again. She then looked down at my lips and I turned my head away and coughed.

"Thanks for the help" she said.

"Anytime" I said.

"You have my number so call me if you wanna talk."

LOLA

I watched him jog back down the stairs and sighed, he changed a lot. I mean I loved him when we were young but I like the new him too, he was sweets he always was but it was more obvious now and I couldn't help but feel a little giddy.

I unlocked my door and went into my apartment bringing in two bags and setting them down on the coffee table and I switched the lights on to see a dark figure sitting on my couch comfortably.

"WhAt tHe fuCk?!" I jumped back when I saw Sebastian sitting on my couch. "What are you doing here in the dark?"

"I came to surprise you but you wasn't home. Who was at the door?"

"That doesn't answer why you were sitting in the dark like a crazy person?" I said going back to pick up the other two bags.

"I was sleep" he rubbed his eyes and stood up." Who was at the door?"

"Michael" I said putting stuff away.

"Why are you with that nigga so late at night?"

"I saw him somewhere and he helped me with my groceries because my boyfriend was busy working."

"You have your own car" he stated.

"And what, a friend can't do something nice for me?" I said snapping my neck in his direction. This nigga really acting dumb.

"Ain't he yo ex?"

"From high school, it ain't that deep. And you wasn't fussed when I told you I saw him other times."

"Yeah but-"

"Yo since you're here can you help me put this stuff away" I said sitting down on a stool.

He just tilted his head at me and chuckled.

"You're in my house and you wanna shout at me for picking up some groceries with a friend. You might as well do something other than bring me stress on this peaceful night" I said looking at my nails.

"Your silly" he shook his head. "I don't like you being alone with him."

"Since when can you tell me what to do?"

"I just don't like you being around him."

"That's a cool opinion" I shrugged, looking at him. Like what am I supposed to do with that information.

"If you told me to stop hanging with my ex, I wouldn't even think about it."

"But I haven't, and I wouldn't because I would trust you are just friends"

"You're just tryna make me sound like a trash boyfriend" he mumbled.

"I'm not trying to do anything. If you think you're a bad boyfriend then that's on you"

"What is that supposed to mean?" He gritted his teeth.

"I was just joking chill" I raised my eyebrow and he started putting some of my cereal away.

"So you ain't fucking with him like that no more?" He asked.

"No, I would never do that" I said.

He paused for a hot second and then continued to put my stuff away.

"You're doing it all wrong" I sighed standing up and taking the cereal out then stacking it up neatly.

"What's the difference?" He laughed.

"It means more stuff can fit in if you do it neatly." I stated before sitting back down and letting him do the rest.

I sat quietly watching him put my stuff away.

"You know I love you Lola?" He said randomly.

"Yeah, I know" I smiled rubbing his back and standing up to charge my phone.

I saw a notification and smiled to myself.

You left some pasta in my car, I can bring it over tomorrow if ur not busy.
— Michael Jr

'Sure' I typed into my phone before putting it down.
