STILL SUNDAY

It was still morning when the doorbell rang.

Haley went to open the door while Shamika and Lola finished their food.

"What are you doing here?" Haley asked her brother, King.

He stood with Jamal, Chris and Haley's mom (Nina).

"Lola's dad came to the shop this morning and told us what happened." He said as everyone else slid past her.

Lola looked up when they walked into the kitchen. "Hey" she smiled jumping up to hug Jamal and Chris.

"You good lil sis?" Jamal asked looking at her face closely. The whole situation with Daniel, Khloe's uncle, made him feel useless.

She nodded and smiled, "do you want something to eat-" she noticed King and Nina come in.

"Hi" she smiled awkwardly.

"Hiya darling" Nina spoke giving Lola a hug. Lola hadn't seen Nina in a while but she was always nice to Lola. Haley resembled her mum a lot.

"Hi Nina" Lola smiled hugging her back, she inhaled a strong  flowery smell from her.

"Are you okay? Your dad came to the shop before church and told us what happened at the party" Nina asked holding onto Lola's shoulders and observing her up and down.

"Yeah I'm fine" Lola replied.

"I've gotta go to church but I brought you guys some food" she said taking some plastic bags out of her bag.

"Thanks" Lola said taking them off her with Shamika.

"Mum I already cooked for us anyway. We're perfectly capable of cooking" Haley said.

"Let your mum give us some food" Shamika said looking into the bags looking pleased.

"At least someone appreciates me" Nina said closing her bag. "I'll see you later" she said giving Haley a kiss on the cheek.

"Come on King" she called walking out the front door.

"Ma!" King complained. "Gimme two minutes"

"I'm in the car" she said.

Lola looked over at him and giggled slightly.

"Whachu laughing at ugly ass?" He asked.

"Nothing" she smiled. Shamika and Haley went back to clearing up and Jamal sat with Chris at the table.

"I just wanted to check on you. We're all worried" King said awkwardly. He could feel Jamal staring at him.

"I'm good thanks."

"Well tell me if you get any news about what will happen to him" King stated.

"Let me walk you to the door" Lola suggested. She could tell that King felt nervous. Jamal's body frame could be intimidating.

King stood at the door and smiled down at Lola.

"You really made a whole family out here" he joked. She chuckled slightly and rubbed her arm.

"They found me to be honest"

"What's it like?" He asked.

"What?"

"Having a whole family all of a sudden that you didn't know existed?"

"I-I don't know. They're nice so it's fun." She shrugged. She looked up when she felt him staring down at her.

"What?" She laughed nervously.

"Nothing" he grinned to himself. "I should go" he said pointing over his shoulder with his thumb. "Take care Lola"

He left and Lola watched him walk over to his mom's car.

Lola went back into the kitchen where Haley was talking to Jamal and Chris. Shamika sat down on her phone.

"Hey" Lola threw her arms out and hugged them both at the same time.

"Lil sis" Chris said rubbing her hair.

"Chris you're always playing with my hair" Lola said pushing him slightly as he laughed. "And I'm okay before you ask" Lola said turning to face Jamal.

"You sure? I can always call up my brothers in the pen to rough him up a lil more" Jamal said with a serious face.

Shamika looked up from her phone and busted out laughing.

"Don't do that, seriously" Lola said.

"Why're you laughing?" Jamal turned to look at Mika.

"I thought you were kidding" Mika laughed.

"Where's Luke?" Haley asked.

"Oh yeah, I forgot about you lovebirds" Chris teased.

"Shut up Chris" Haley blushed.

"He's sleeping at home" Jamal answered.

"Thank you Jamal" Haley said eyeing Chris who twisted up his lips made a funny face at her.

"Do you guys have any left over food?" Jamal asked standing up to look at the stove.

"Nah" Shamika said licking the tips of her fingers "we ate it all. And it was good"
She moaned rubbing her stomach.

Jamal just tutted.

"You better get yo cousin" Jamal joked.

"You better get yo cousin" Mika mocked in a deep tone. "We're basically cousins too"

"Why would I claim yo uglah ass?" He crossed his arms looking her up and down. What was worse was she was wearing her bonnet and she was wearing baggy pants and an oversized hoody. And she had slight bags underneath her eyes.

"Ah" Mika gasped as Lola and Haley laughed.

"You probably bald headed underneath that bonnet" he said leaning against the counter and grabbing the bowl to lick the pancake dough.

"Shut up Jamal" she crossed her arms and sat down quietly as the girls cackled with Chris. He eyed Mika and started howling again.

"Why were you guys even at the diner so early?" Lola asked.

"We were gonna go somewhere but we heard what had happened" Chris said searching through the fridge.

"What- where were you going?" Lola asked.

"To attend some business out of the city" Jamal answered.

"Did you not have breakfast?" Lola asked watching Chris search the bottom shelf in the fridge. He shook his head and took out some cake he found.

"Uh uh" Shamika stood up and took the plate of cake back in the fridge "I already bagsied it"

Lola took out some bread for them to make toast and went upstairs to take a shower and bath. The others did the same afterwards and they chilled downstairs in the living room a little.

Jamal got a phone call from his dad and picked up.

"I'm with Lola- yeah - it can wait - watchu mean Dj wants more -hold up" he stood up and walked out of the living room.

"What was that all about?" Shamika asked snacking on the cake from the fridge.

Lola shrugged. When Jamal returned, he whispered into Chris' ear and he stood up.

"We gotta go" Jamal said giving Lola a quick hug.

"Where are you going?" Lola asked. 

"We've got business to attend to" Chris said cockily.

***

MONDAY

Lola rode her motorbike to school and parked outside the entrance. She noticed Cecelia smile at her as she walked past and shook it off. She was sure it was because she was thinking of something horrible. 

She went straight to her locker and put her bag away. She felt Michael's arms wrap around her waist and her head fell back onto his chest. She grinned to herself.

"You never came over yesterday"She said.

"My friend Jay came over and my mom got a little excited." He rolled his eyes.

Lola squinted her eyes at him trying to remember the girl he was talking about.

"My light skinned friend we met at a party a while back" He said.

Lola turned around to face him and shook her head no.

"Doesn't matter" He said keeping his arm around her shoulder as she shut the locker door.

They walked down the corridor to the common area to find their friends. Lola noticed the many stares she got, she had almost forgotten how popular Michael was and how many girls crushed on him. Some people smiled and so she smiled back. 

They spotted their friends and started to head towards them. Taylor sat with Shamika, then it was Haley, Luke, Darius and Emmanuel.

"Theres the happy couple" Emmanuel exclaimed.

"Very funny" Lola rolled her eyes blushing slightly.

There was only one seat left so Lola sat with Michael on the same seat. 

"You can sit on my lap if you want" he suggested.

"I would but then Emmanuel would have something smart to say" Lola said glaring at him as he grinned.

"I won't say anything" he threw his hands up.

Lola slid onto Michaels lap and put her left arm around his shoulder.

"Must be nice" Shamika rolled her eyes.

"You coould've had it with Jared" Darius said.

"Why would I want that with Jared?" she scrunched her eyebrows up in disgust.

"He's an idiot" Haley rolled her eyes.

"A stupid fuckboy" Taylor added.

"I was just saying, no need to attack me" Darius said.

"You not gonna back your friend?" Emmanuel asked Michael.

"He is my friend but.. pshht I'm not involved" Michael said.

They kept arguing about Jared and how much he went around with girls.

"Look" Haley pointed, Luke quickly put her hand down.

"Why can't you be more discrete?" Luke laughed.

They watched Jared walk past with some girl under his arm giggling at whatever he was whispering into his ear.

"I bet he's licking her ear or some nasty shit" Haley shook her head.

"Like this" Luke said before licking Haley's ear.

"Eww" she shoved him off of her a he chuckled with the rest of the table.

"Why're you always hating on Jared anyway" Darius asked.

"I just don't like him" Haley shrugged. "It's not like he doesn't know it."

They kept talking until it was time for lesson and everyone began to get up.

"Michael let me go" Lola groaned as people walked off to lesson.

He kissed her on the lips making her smile.

"You really want me to let you go" he asked grinning. She leaned in to kiss him again slowly and felt her stomach somersault in all different directions. She began moving into the kiss with her hips.

"Lola!" Haley whispered. "I come back and this is what you guys are doing?"

They both just looked at each other and laughed. 

"You can resume after school, but right now we have Chemistry" Haley said grabbing Lola and dragging her to their lesson.

Jamie sat down in his office chair with a stern sulk on his face.

"You see what you guys have done?" 

"Im sorry pops, we just wanted to-" Chris started.

""I don't fucking care about what you wanted"Jamie stood up slamming his fists onto his desk. He adjusted his tie and took a deep breath before sitting down and laughing. "See, now look what you made me do. Im tryna be a proper business man and you're getting me riled up."

Jamal played with his lighter and without looking up said, "You're not fucking Ghost from Power so chill out with tryna be legit"

"I don't care of your opinion Jamal, the fact will remain that you failed to provide for one of our customers and now we've lost money. Now Dj is on my back about how my sons aren't keeping up the family name. We aRe ShiRo's and our business is a priority. Now I know you guys care about Lola, I respect that because she's family too. But this business, is part of that"

Jamal stopped playing with his lighter. "But we got the product to him so what's the issue?" 

"He needed it on time for some party or some shit" Jamie said clearly not bothered about where his product was going and who was buying. He took out a cigar from his desk and lit it up.

"You told moms you was gonna quit"Chris said.

"Tell ya mom and i'll tell her about the miss you got pregnant." Jamie snapped back. He dismissed them and they both walked out.

"I can't believe I used to love that nigga" Chris mumbled making his way out the building.

Lola collapsed into her fathers arms as the police officers told her the news. She held onto him tightly as they explained what would happen.

"We were able to match his DNA to what was left at the hospital. In order for him to be convicted we need to take another recording of what happened that night if that's okay with you Lola.

She sniffled and nodded as Lucas rubbed her back.

"That's a yes" Lucas spoke for her.

She rubbed her eyes and sighed as more tears trickled down her cheeks. "Thank God they got him" She said. The police officer they were with waved someone over to hand Lola some tissues. She thanked her and wiped her eyes.

"We can do it now, or you can come down another time" She spoke. "It's up to you, but either way he'll be in prison." 

"I can do it now" Lola nodded. "Can my dad come in with me?"

Later that night, Lola was laying on Michael's chest.

"Do you ever think about your future?" Lola asked random as she traced the lines on his t-shirt. The dim light made Michael's skin look like a soft brown tone.

"Doesn't everyone?"

"I mean like deeply, like how often would you see your mom and how what type of holidays you want to be able to afford for your kids?"

"I mean, I know that imma still be with you and I have ideas of what I wanna do"

"Like what?"Lola asked.

"Acting and stuff" he shrugged.

"Seriously?" Lola asked slightly intrigued. She turned so that they both looked each other in the eyes. He just mumbled a 'yeah'.

"I can't imagine you acting, you're not serious enough" Lola joked.

"One day, you'll be watching me from a screen" he boasted.

"Yeah, when the police give me cctv footage of you running over a lamppost" she laughed.

"I didn't even hit the lamppost" he laughed.

"You nearly did" Lola giggled referring to a past car journey. After a minute of silence Lola spoke up again. "So, you're famous for acting. How many kids do you want?" 

"As many as possible, I want lots of Michael juniors running around with my baby girl, Michaela, who will never leave my side till she's thirty" Lola just laughed. "I don't know why're your laughing, you need to figure out how you're gonna gimme all this offspring girl"

"Michael!" Lola exclaimed hitting his chest repeatedly.

"Im kidding, we can go from ten to five" Michael said holding her fists.

"Not even, I can do three max" Lola said raising her eyebrows "going into labour ain't no game"

Michael extended his hands against Lola so that their palms touched.

"We can compromise at 4" Michael winked.

"You're not really giving me a choice are you? Lola laughed.

"Nope." He flipped them over so that he was on top of her, he leaned forwards and kissed her lips slowly.

Suddenly, she placed her hands on his chest stopping him. 

"Wait, we ain't naming no baby girl Michaela" Lola stated making Michael chuckle.

// Slowly but surely, I'll get back into doing frequent updates guys. I like you guys too much to disappoint.
