'Cherry and Nightmare both seem in a rush, this ball can't be that important, after all, it was put together so hastily. It's not like he's going to propose or anything. Right?' You thought suspiciously, as you turned around to face the most gorgeous dress you had seen in your entire life.

The dress was a bright yellow. Below the bust, the dress flared and puffed with innumerable layers of lace. The torso of the dress was decorated with a gorgeous design of silver and yellow. The straps were designed to hang comfortably off of your shoulders.

You reached out to caress the magnificent dress. The lace was undoubtedly one of the softest things you've ever felt. The silver and yellow design wasn't coarse or rough, it was sewn with a gentle thread that wouldn't itch. 

"ARE YOU GETTING DRESSED, HUNNY?" Cherry shouted, snapping you out of your trance.

"Sorry, no, I was just admiring the dress." 

You heard Cherry chuckle behind the door, then say, "WHY, THANK YOU, BUT YOU NEED TO GET DRESSED NOW WHILE I PREPARE YOUR MAKEUP." 

"Ok!" You called back. You began to dress. It fit on easily, but you had a little trouble with the zipper. After asking for Cherry's assistance, it was on. You looked in the mirror and admired the dress.

"IT LOOKS WONDERFUL ON YOU." Cherry said from next to you.

You looked down and smiled, saying, "Thank you. Do you think Nightmare will like it?" 

Cherry's smile widened and he replied, "I KNOW HE WILL, HE CHOSE THE COLORS. NOW, LET'S GET YOU YOUR JEWELRY AND YOUR MAKEUP DONE." You followed Cherry to the dresser, thinking to yourself.

'Nightmare chose the colors? That's a little odd considering his color palette seems to only consist of blues, blacks, purples, and other dark hues.' You sat down at the dresser and looked at yourself in the mirror. Cherry used his magic to place yellow rose earrings on you, a stunning yellow necklace, and a beautiful ring on your right hand.

He then began to use his magic to do your makeup and hair. "So-" 

"SH! I HAVEN'T DONE THIS IN QUITE A FEW YEARS, I NEED TO FOCUS." You giggled, then let him work. After a few minutes of silence, your hair looked gorgeous. You smiled and was about to compliment the hairstyle, when Cherry said, "ALMOST DONE, JUST WAIT A LITTLE..."

You giggled, then closed your eyes as they were decorated with eyeshadow. "ALRIGHT, IT'S NOT MY BEST WORK, BUT IT'LL HAVE TO DO." 

You opened your eyes to see a beautiful silver smokey eye. "Cherry! Where did you learn to makeup like this?!" 

Cherry smiled proudly and said, "MY HUMAN LOVED TO DO MAKEUP AND THEY TAUGHT ME HOW TO DO IT TO OTHERS. IT WAS ESPECIALLY FUN TO DO IT TO MY BROTHER WHILE HE SLEPT."

"That's really cool, Cherry!" You flattered.

Cherry beamed, then said, "NOW, WE SHOULD GET YOU TO THE BALLROOM." 

"You have a ballroom?" You questioned, as you stood up to follow Cherry. 

"YES, WE'VE ONLY USED IT A FEW TIMES THOUGH." You began to follow Cherry through the halls, and up a staircase. 

"What will tonight consist of?" You asked casually.

"AS SOON AS WE GET THERE, YOU AND NIGHTMARE WILL ENTER, THEN HE WILL ESCORT YOU TO THE FEAST. THEN YOU WILL DANCE, THEN HE WILL PROC- THEN HE WILL FULFILL THE PURPOSE OF THIS BALL." 

You nodded your head, then asked, "And what is the purpose of this ball?" 

Cherry got flustered and he replied hurriedly, "YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO WAIT."

You puffed your cheeks and continued walking in silence. You soon neared two doors, each was decorated with a single golden apple painted on. "How come these doors have golden apples on them?" 

Cherry didn't respond to this, he merely stopped you in front of the doors. "IT'S NOTHING OF IMPORTANCE. NOW, BEHIND THAT DOOR IS A NIGHTMARE PAPYRUS WHO WILL OPEN THESE DOORS IN A FEW MINUTES. I NEED YOU TO WAIT HERE. AS SOON AS THE DOORS OPEN, WALK DOWN TO MEET NIGHTMARE, OK, HUNNY?"

You nodded and he smiled eagerly. "GOOD LUCK!" 

"Thank you!" You called back as he began hopping away. 'Why do I need luck?' You asked yourself curiously. You stood waiting and realized something. During the whole rush to get ready, you and Cherry forgot to change your shoes! You began laughing, Cherry was so serious and thought it was so important, and here you stood. All decked out, fancy everything, save for your worn sneakers.

You were bent over clutching your stomach with laughter. When you looked over, you saw that the doors were opened. You were so busy laughing you didn't realize the doors had opened. You blushed and stood up straight, only now taking in the sight that lay before you. A large, slightly curved, staircase lay before you, that lead to a gold platform.

The room was a gorgeous mix of gold and purple. The walls had sculptures of vines that curled upwards and, at the ceiling, they met and began spiraling down, making a gorgeous chandelier that was the shape of an upside down tree. You gaped at the sight, it was stunning. You then turned to look in front of you and saw another staircase that lead to the same platform. Nightmare stood at the top of the other staircase.

He was staring, starstruck at you. You smiled, then began walking down the staircase. Nightmare seemed to break from his trance and started his way down the stairs. You two slowly made your way down the stairs, gazing at each other. Nightmare was dressed in a black suit, with a yellow rose hanging from the left pocket.

When you met at the platform, you stared at each other for a minute, before he spoke up. "You look stunning." 

"You look dashing." You said back. 

He straightened, then offered his hand to you. "Might I escort you to dinner?" 

You smiled and took his hand. "Yes, you may."
