Snape's Grudge

The news were everywhere that Sirius Black was in the Gryffindor tower, and as all the Gryffindors gathered outside the hall, McGonagall went to Alphard.

"Mr. Black, I need a word with you in my office."

As he nodded, she scolded, "I believe I only called Mr. Black, Mr. Potter," Harry, who was following them, stopped.

"Sorry," said Harry.

As he sat in her office, the door cracked open, revealing Snape entering with Rosalie behind him, standing next to her brother.

"Mr. and Mrs. Black, did you have any contact with your father?"

"No!" They said in unison.

"Do you know of any way he could have used to get in?"

"With all due respect, Professor, do you think my brother and I are mad enough to bring a killer to the castle?"

McGonagall nodded as the twins gave her a 'really?' expression.

As the two left the office, they walked the same path.

"Why are you following me?" said Rosalie.

"You are the one to follow me," said Alphard.

"I'm going to the library," she said.

"Me too," said Alphard.

"At this time?" she questioned.

"Well, same as you," he stated, raising an eyebrow.

"It's none of your business," said Rosalie.

"You know, Ria, sometimes you forget that we are twins."

"Excuse me?"

"You're up to something; I saw you a couple of times in the restricted section," he said.

"Let's just say I'm trying to save your ass," she winked at him, turning her back to continue her way.

"You already did," and with that, she stopped. "I know that it's only a matter of time before he rises again; keep yourself safe," he told her. She turned to him and nodded.

Little did Rosalie know that her brother was smarter than her. The only difference was he always hid it well. She had this feeling deep down that he knew it all but just didn't push her that much to say it.

"Don't worry, I will," and with that, he watched as she disappeared at the end of the hallway.

The next day, Harry and Alphard were sitting in the Great Hall at breakfast since Ron and Hermione disappeared.

"I bet they are snogging around," said Alphard.

"No, Ron and Hermione are friends," said Harry.

"As you wish, Potty," he said.

"Pssst," Harry and Alphard turned their heads to the Weasley twins.

"Hello, little ones," said Fred.

"Well, you have to give back the map to the owner," said George, who winked.

"Yeah, here you go," said Harry.

"No, no, no," said Fred. "It is your sister's," said George to Alphard, whose eyes widened.

As the twins left, they left a note and left without another word.

"Meet me at 11 pm in the hallways between Gryffindor and Slytherin."

"Your sister chokes me sometimes," said Harry.

"Me too," said Alphard.

That day, Harry and Alphard went to Hogsmeade, hiding in their invisibility cloak as they pelted Malfoy with snowballs and had fun.

Rosalie was sitting in the North Courtyard, arranging some of her thoughts when she remembered it's been two months.

"Kreacher!" she said.

*Crack*

Kreacher was there.

"Yes, Mistress Black."

"Get me my sanity potion."

*Crack*

The potion was there.

"Anything else, Mistress?"

"No, you can leave."

"Kreacher lives to serve the noble House of Black," and with that, he vanished.

She drank it all, and then she remembered she had some fancy wine in her bag, so she started to drink it. A memory came to her mind.

Little Rosalie was on a mini broom, getting some cheers from her father, a man she assumed was James Potter, and another two men she couldn't recognize, and Alphard, who couldn't touch his broom because he was scared.

"That's my niece! Her and Harry would make the best Quidditch team," said James.

"I don't think Alphard likes the idea," said the man who was reading a book.

"Oh, come on! How come my daughter gets my genetics, and you don't go Phardie!" said Sirius.

As two women approached, a red-haired woman with eyes like Harry – she must be Lily Potter – and her mother.

"James Fleamont Potter," said Lily.

"Sirius Orion Black the Third," said Alexandra.

"What the hell are you doing with our kids?"

And with a little grass movement, Rosalie turned.

"You are not allowed to drink, you know," said Professor Lupin.

"A little wouldn't hurt. Want some?" she said, handing him the bottle.

"No, thank you, but you must be careful. McGonagall would catch you in a drunken state," said Remus.

"Nah, it doesn't affect me that much. Only Russian vodka could make me miserable," she said, laughing.

"Just like your father," said Remus in a very low voice.

"Excuse me!" she said.

"It's bad for your health," he said.

As she stood up.

"Yeah, well, try being a 14-year-old Black," she said in a mocking voice as she left him alone.

Remus couldn't stop a tear from coming down his eye. How is she so similar to Sirius and yet didn't have the chance to grow up with him?

Later that night at 11 pm, Harry and Alphard met Rosalie.

"Hey, give me the map quick; someone is coming," she said.

As the light from their wands closed, Snape's opened.

"Well, well, well, what do we have here? Black, Black, and Potter."

"Heaven's sake, Snivellus, do you ever sleep?" said Alphard, causing Harry to snort.

"How extraordinarily like your father you are, Potter," Snape said, suddenly, his eyes glinting. "The two were exceedingly arrogant. A small amount of talent on the Quidditch field made them think they were a cut above the rest of us too. Strutting around the place with their friends and admirers... The resemblance between you three is uncanny," said Snape in his usual disgusted tone.

"My dad didn't strut," said Harry before he could stop himself. "And neither do I."

"Honestly, Harry, do you even know who your father is?" said Alphard, snorting.

"First of all, yes, they were, and we inherited that talent thanks to them. And unlike you, who didn't have friends because of his annoying personality, our fathers were the richest purebloods at Hogwarts, so they have every right to strut, asshole," said Rosalie, leaving Harry and Alphard with their mouths wide open. Before Snape could give her detention, Lupin interrupted.

"Hello, Professor, you called?" said Lupin in an amused tone.

"Well, you heard the rudeness of these three; I believe I called you since I had a student out of bed, and I found Black, Black, and Potter out of bed suspiciously; I needed company," said Snape.

"Turn out your pockets, Black!" he spat suddenly.

Rosalie didn't move.

"Turn out your pockets, or we go straight to the headmaster! Pull them out, Black!"

Cold with dread, Rosalie slowly pulled out the bag of Zonko's tricks and the Marauder's Map.

"It's just a piece of parchment."

"Surely you don't need such a very old piece of parchment?" he said. "Why don't I just throw this away?" His hand moved toward the fire.

"Sev-" tried Remus to say.

"No!" Harry and Alphard said quickly.

"So!" said Snape, his long nostrils quivering. "Is this another treasured gift from Mr. Weasley? Or is it something else? A letter, perhaps, written in invisible ink? Or instructions to get into Hogsmeade without passing the dementors?"

"Revelio!"

Nothing happened.

"Show yourself!"

Nothing happened. It stayed blank.

"Professor Severus Snape, master of this school, commands you to yield the information you conceal!" Snape said, hitting the map with his wand.

As though an invisible hand were writing upon it, words appeared on the smooth surface of the map.

"Mooney presents his compliments to Professor Snape and begs him to keep his abnormally large nose out of other people's business."

Snape froze. Harry stared, dumbstruck, at the message. But the map didn't stop there. More writing was appearing beneath the first.

"Mr. Prongs agrees with Mr. Moony and would like to add that Professor Snape is an ugly git."

It would have been very funny if the situation hadn't been so serious. And there was more.

"Mr. Padfoot would like to register his astonishment that an idiot like that ever became a professor."

Alphard closed his eyes in horror. When he opened them, the map had had its last word.

"Mr. Wormtail bids Professor Snape good day and advises him to wash his hair, the slimeball."

Meanwhile, Rosalie and Professor Lupin were trying to stop themselves from laughing.

Snape pointed at the parchment, on which the words of Messrs. Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs were still shining. An odd, closed expression appeared on Lupin's face.

"Well?" said Snape.

Lupin continued to stare at the map. Harry had the impression that Lupin was doing some very quick thinking.

"Well?" said Snape again. "This parchment is plainly full of Dark Magic. This is supposed to be your area of expertise, Lupin. Where do you imagine Potter got such a thing?"

Lupin looked up and, by the merest half-glance in Harry's direction, warned him not to interrupt.

"Full of Dark Magic?" he repeated mildly. "Do you really think so, Severus? It looks to me as though it is merely a piece of parchment that insults anybody who reads it. Childish, but surely not dangerous? I imagine Harry got it from a joke shop --"

"Indeed?" said Snape. His jaw had gone rigid with anger. "You think a joke shop could supply him with such a thing? You don't think it more likely that he got it directly from the manufacturers?"

Harry didn't understand what Snape was talking about. Nor, apparently, did Lupin.

"You mean, by Mr. Wormtail or one of these people?" he said. "Do you guys know any of these men?"

"No," said Harry quickly.

"You see, Severus?" said Lupin, turning back to Snape. "It looks like a Zonko product to me --"

"Harry, Alphard, Rosalie, a word in my office, please; good night, Severus."

"Shove off the way, Snivellus," said Alphard and Rosalie at the same time.

Remus couldn't help but smile at what he heard; he didn't fancy Snape after all.

In the office, Remus looked angry, like a father would be angry at his kids.

"Who owns it?" he said.

"Me," said Rosalie.

"I don't want to hear explanations," said Lupin shortly. He glanced around the empty entrance hall and lowered his voice. "I happen to know that this map was confiscated by Mr. Filch many years ago. Yes, I know it's a map," he said as Harry and Alphard looked amazed. "I don't want to know how it fell into your possession. I am, however, astounded that you didn't hand it in. Particularly after what happened the last time a student left information about the castle lying around. And I can't let you have it back, Rosalie."

"How did you even figure out how it worked?"

"I'll show you," as she touched it, an ink writing was there.

"Mooney wants to say that he is very proud of his goddaughter's cleverness."

"Prongs can't explain how proud he is that his niece scolded that git and that she is the best girl he ever saw."

"Padfoot says hi to his minifoot and loves her so much and that he is happy that she was the one to continue their legacy."

"Wormtail says sorry for his friends' stubbornness and she should turn the page and read the instruction."

Passwords: I solemnly swear that I'm up to no good.

Mischief managed.

"I believe that I'm a descendant of the manufacturers; that's why it worked."

"I'm amazed, I must say, but still, it is a very dangerous and irresponsible act of you three. You can leave."

The twins left, but Harry decided that he wanted to speak to Lupin; that's why he stayed.

"Sorry for the map," said Alphard.

"Nah, no worries; I'll steal it again," she said as they both started to laugh and headed to their dorms.
