Miss Riddel's ring

It was an exhausting exams day for the third years.

On Monday:

- 9 o'clock, Arithmancy.
- 9 o'clock, Transfiguration.
- Lunch.
- 1 o'clock, Charms.
- 1 o'clock, Ancient Runes.

The quartet sat in the library.

"Have you found anything?" said Harry.

"No, not yet!" said Hermione.

"I told you guys, Malfoys are pureblood. Their word in the Ministry is heard. You can't just expect to find a rule to save Buckbeak," said Alphard.

"Bloody hell, Alphard, can't you be positive a bit?" said Ron.

"I'm just stating facts. I'm going to take a walk in here. Maybe they put some new books. See you at lunch!" he said. Without waiting for a response, he left and started to look into some books. As he admired a girl, Aurora Emily Bexley, a second-year Ravenclaw reading, she looked up, smiled, tucked her golden hair behind her ear, and left.

"Merlin's beard, I need this one," he said out loud.

"She has an older brother, Alexander Bexley, Ravenclaw chaser. He could kill you if you touch her," said a voice behind him.

"Can you stop popping out of nowhere?" said Alphard.

"I was in here way long before you came, dumbass," said Rosalie.

As he looked at a paper on the desk, he asked, "What is that?"

"It's none of your business," she said.

"I can help you. Just give me a chance," he said.

"Fine, it's a password to something made by grandmother. I kind of figured out the beginning but no clue for the end," she said.

"Blood runs thicker than water..." he said. "I heard this somewhere."

"Same here, but it's kind of blurry," she said.

"Blood runs thicker than water. Blood runs thicker than water," he kept repeating, looking at his sister. His eyes widened.

"But both feel the same when your eyes are closed," they said in unison.

"OMG! How could I forget about it?" she said.

"I told you I'm useful sometimes. What do you need it for, anyways?" he said.

"None of your business. Actually, goodbye, Phardie Phardo," she said, winking, and left.

"She is going to get herself killed by Voldemort himself if she keeps trying to destroy him!" he said to himself.

As Rosalie got to Dumbledore's office.

"Professor Dumbledore."

"Ah, Miss Black, everything good?" he said, taking a sip from his tea.

"I need to go to 12 Grimmauld Place. I assume I can find something there," she said.

"Fine by me. You could use my fireplace, but don't be late for yours and your brother's detention. Professor Snape wouldn't like you not being there."

"All right, sir!" As she went to the fireplace.

"12 Grimmauld Place," she said.

Crack.

She is in London, in front of a place she once called home. She was terrified. After all, she didn't have a good childhood. As the door creaked open, she was greeted by Kreacher, "Welcome home, Mistress. Kreacher missed his mistress."

She didn't look at him and kept walking with soundless steps. Her grandmother was dead, but her rules were alive. She felt her heart clench but went straight to her grandmother's room. She had been there twice, as she could remember. It was like a restricted section for them in that house.

Walburga Black's room in 12 Grimmauld Place was like stepping into a museum of old, rich stuff. Dark curtains, fancy family portraits staring down with their noses in the air, and a huge Black family crest that screamed "we're better than you" in every way possible. The furniture seemed like they raided every antique shop in Diagon Alley. You can bet only the special few get invited in there. And hey, wouldn't be surprised if there's some creepy dark magic vibes hiding in the corners. Basically, it's all about tradition, pure-blood pride, and keeping up appearances for the Black family.

After her death, Rosalie kept visiting the house for any hint about Horcruxes since she couldn't find anything useful in Gringotts bank. But last week, she found a box that had a charm. It didn't open without a specific password. Rosalie took the blank dark green box out of her grandmother's closet, and she cut her hand. Drops of her blood fell on the box, and a sentence appeared:

"Blood runs thicker than water,
But both feel the same when your eyes are closed."

She said out loud. The box started to open to reveal a golden ring with a big black diamond in it. She was scared to touch it. She would be a fool if she did. It was full of dark magic, and she knew it. "Protecto," she said as she took the ring in her hands. She felt a very dark magic moving around. She had to destroy it since she knew her uncle wouldn't approve of her touching it, never mind destroying it. She kept it a secret from him; only Dumbledore knew.

She put the ring on her finger and apparated to Hogwarts. On the grounds, she met none other than Alphard snogging Aurora Bexley. "This boy is unstoppable. How did she even fall for him?" she thought when she heard some footsteps down the way. She whispered to them, "Someone is coming. Go," she said. As the two realized they weren't alone, Alphard told Aurora to go, and that he will handle it. And boom, Snape popped out.

"Well, I guess little Blacks decided to do a family reunion?" he said, raising an eyebrow.

"We were going on a walk, sir," said Rosalie.

"A walk, and Mr. Black, what does a lipstick do on your neck?" he said, trying to unnerve him.

"Nothing that concerns you," said Alphard.

"50 points from Gryffindor and Slytherin and detention tomorrow with me,oh i forgot you already have one well plus one woudn't hurt" said Snape and left.

"Great, you just gained us another detention," said Rosalie.

"I didn't do..." he said.

"Heaven's sake, you were the one snogging Aurora. If I left you for 5 more minutes, you would've fucked her," she said.

"I wish," he said as she smacked his head. "Ouch."

"Fuck off," she said as she left him in the empty corridor, and he sat there, took a book, and started reading. It was past curfew, but he didn't mind it. He had to find anything, any instrument that could destroy the Dark Lord. He grew up with dark arts; he knew how dangerous they were, and that his sister is up to something. He needed to protect her!

"Mister Black," said a voice.

Alphard jumped and hid the book behind him.

"Professor Lupin! What are you doing here, lost a sock?" said Alphard, looking at his professor's shoes.

Lupin smirked at the comment. Despite him living with the Weasleys, he was always elegant. Remus swore

that he never saw a bad-looking Black. Sirius, Regulus, Bellatrix, Narcissa, Andromeda, Rosalie, Alphard, even Orion and Walburga-they were like Muggle models.

"Well, kind of. I just heard some talking, and I might have to remind you, my room is right there," Alphard swallowed hard.

"Yeah, sorry for disturbing," he said.

"No worries, you should go before Filch gets his hands on you. There is a terrible danger outside. We don't want problems."

Alphard knew he talked about his father and got a bit uncomfortable, which was noticed by Remus.

"I... I have to go," said Alphard, and the book was now seen.

"What is that?" said Lupin.

"Nothing, sir," said Alphard, and with that, he left.

Remus looked at his godson, how terribly he was like his father, even the place he was with the Ravenclaw girl. It was Alexandra and Sirius's place. Everything about the twins and Harry reminded him of his friends.
