Fat lady

Everyone was sitting by the black lake as it was a day off after the first exams. Harry, Alphard, and Ron were all sitting, listening to Hermione explaining the Red Caps lesson.

"Hermione Jean Granger, you are a lifesaver," said Alphard.

"I swear, if the both of you don't get exceeds expectations on this exam, Molly is going to kill you," said Hermione.

"You owe me now, don't you?" said Ron as the wind dropped his quill to the left.

"I'll get it," said Alphard.

"Thanks, mate," as he got up, he got a bit closer to the Slytherins.

A 5th-year Slytherin known as Adrian Pucey came closer.

"Oi, Black, how does it feel to live with Weasel-bees?" he laughed but alphard stayed calm, grabbed the quill, and tried to go.

"Ha, a blood traitor! I don't even know how you managed to disgrace your-" he didn't finish his sentence.

"Locomotor Mortis," said Alphard.

"Protego! Weak, Black," said Adrian.

As Alphard was surrounded by four Slytherins, as soon as the trio wanted to go help him, they heard,

"Expulso!"

All the Slytherins were slammed into the trees. Rosalie came in, her hair down, wearing her uniform with a dark grey glare. She went to Adrian and held his neck.

"You'll touch my brother again, and I'll cut your throat. Do you understand?" She said loudly. All the professors were present in that scene; even Professor Lupin and Professor McGonagall came.

"Mrs. Black, you are not allowed to treat your housemates like that using magic," she said. "Severus, deal with her; I'm taking them to Poppy."

"Mrs. Black, det-" he said but stopped as soon as she went away without hearing him, and he did not bother to yell at her. As the others knew, the professor is scared of Walburga Black after all who is not. And Rosalie being a Black, which means a member of the Sacred Twenty-Eight, could cost him his life.

She passed through Professor Lupin, who looked at her and gave her a proud smile as she disappeared into the hallway and did not show herself for the rest of the day.

The next morning, they had DADA first. While everyone was copying down some notes that Professor Lupin was saying, an owl knocked at the window. He opened the window for it, as both Blacks realized that it was the family owl, Ares.

It was a Howler. Rosalie sighed; she was kind of used to her grandmother's Howlers by now.

She didn't need to open it, as it opened itself.

"ROSALIE ANDROMEDA BLACK, HOW DARE YOU DISRESPECT ME LIKE THAT! I HAVE JUST RECEIVED AN OWL FROM THE PUCEY SAYING THAT YOU BROKE THEIR SON'S NOSE FOR YOUR BLOOD TRAITOR OF A BROTHER. HOW DARE YOU! I HOPE THAT YOU KNOW THIS WILL NOT SLIP AWAY. YOU'LL PAY FOR IT."

And with that, the letter burnt. The class was looking at her, and whispers were everywhere. She stood up without looking at anyone, collecting her parchments.

"I beg your pardon, Professor," she said.

And with that, she left without saying another word.

**************

Professor McGonagall opened the classroom door at that moment, which was perhaps lucky; Hermione and Ron were looking daggers at each other (Crookshanks wanted to eat Scabbers again), and when they got into class, they seated themselves on either side of Harry and Alphard and didn't talk to each other for the whole class.

Harry and Alphard still hadn't decided what he was going to say to Professor McGonagall when the bell rang at the end of the lesson, but it was she who brought up the subject of Hogsmeade first.

"One moment, please!" she called as the class made to leave. "As you're all in my House, you should hand Hogsmeade permission forms to me before Halloween. No form, no visiting the village, so don't forget!"

Neville put up his hand.

"Please, Professor, I -- I think I've lost-"

"Your grandmother sent yours to me directly, Longbottom," said Professor McGonagall.

"She seemed to think it was safer. Well, that's all; you may leave."

"Ask her now," Ron hissed at his friends.

"Oh, but-" Hermione began.

"Go for it, Harry, Alphard," said Ron stubbornly. They waited for the rest of the class to disappear, then headed nervously for Professor McGonagall's desk.

"Yes, Potter? Black?" Harry took a deep breath.

"Professor, my aunt and uncle -- er -- forgot to sign my form," he said.

Professor McGonagall looked over her square spectacles at him but didn't say anything.

"So -- er, do you think it would be all right? I mean, will it be okay if I-- if I go to Hogsmeade?"

She turned to Alphard. "I mean, Molly didn't sign it for me, so I'm not going to try to convince you, Minnie," he said with a smirk.

Professor McGonagall looked down and began shuffling papers on her desk.

"I'm afraid not, Potter," she said. "You heard what I said. No form, no visiting the village. That's the rule."

"But -- Professor, my aunt and uncle -- you know, they're Muggles; they don't really understand about -- about Hogwarts forms and stuff," Harry said, while Ron egged him on with vigorous nods. "If you said I could go--"

"But I don't say so," said Professor McGonagall, standing up and piling her papers neatly into a drawer. "The form clearly states that the parent or guardian must give permission." She turned to look at him, with an odd expression on her face. Was it pity? "I'm sorry, Potter, but that's my final word. You had better hurry, or you'll be late for your next lesson."

There was nothing to be done. Ron called Professor McGonagall a lot of names that greatly annoyed Hermione; Hermione assumed an "all-for-the-best" expression that made Ron even angrier, and Harry had to endure everyone in the class talking loudly and happily about what they were going to do first once they got into Hogsmeade.

"There's always the feast," said Ron, in an effort to cheer Harry up. "You know, the Halloween feast, in the evening."

"Yeah," said Harry gloomily, "great."

As soon as everyone left, Alphard and Harry were going to visit the owlery.

"Harry, Alphard!" They doubled back to see who was speaking, only for it to be Professor Lupin.

"What are you doing?" said Lupin, "Where are Ron and Hermione?"

"Hogsmeade," said Harry, in a would-be casual voice.

"Ah," said Lupin. He considered Harry for a moment. "Why don't

you come in? I've just taken delivery of a grindylow for our next lesson."

"A what?" said Alphard. They followed Lupin into his office. In the corner stood a very large tank of water. A sickly green creature with sharp little horns had its face pressed against the glass, pulling faces and flexing its long, spindly fingers.

"Water demon," said Lupin, surveying the grindylow thoughtfully. "We shouldn't have much difficulty with him, not after the kappas. The trick is to break his grip. You notice the abnormally long fingers? Strong, but very brittle."

The grindylow bared its green teeth and then buried itself in a tangle of weeds in a corner.

"Cup of tea?" Lupin said, looking around for his kettle. "I was just thinking of making one."

"All right," the boys said awkwardly.

Something of Harry's thoughts seemed to have shown on his face because Lupin said, "Anything worrying you, Harry?"

"No," Harry lied.

"Yes," said Alphard suddenly, putting his tea down on Lupin's desk.

"You are bad at lying, mate," said Alphard, which made the professor laugh. "You know that day we fought the boggart?"

"Yes," said Lupin slowly.

"I would have thought that was obvious, Harry," he said, sounding surprised. Harry, who had expected Lupin to deny that he'd done any such thing, was taken aback.

"Why?" he said again.

"Well," said Lupin, frowning slightly, "I assumed that if the boggart faced you, it would assume the shape of Lord Voldemort."

Harry stared. Not only was this the last answer he'd expected, but Lupin had said Voldemort's name. The only person Harry had ever heard say the name aloud (apart from himself) was Professor Dumbledore.

"Clearly, I was wrong," said Lupin, still frowning at Harry. "But I didn't think it a good idea for Lord Voldemort to materialize in the staffroom. I imagined that people would panic."

"I didn't think of Voldemort," said Harry honestly. "I -- I remembered those Dementors."

"I see," said Alphard.

He was interrupted by a knock on the door.

"Come in," called Lupin.

The door opened, and in came Snape. He was carrying a goblet, which was smoking faintly, and stopped at the sight of Harry, his black eyes narrowing.

"Ah, Severus," said Lupin, smiling. "Thanks very much. Could you leave it here on the desk for me?"

Snape set down the smoking goblet, his eyes wandering between Harry , alphard and Lupin.

"I was just showing Harry and Alphard my grindylow," said Lupin pleasantly, pointing at the tank.

"Fascinating," said Snape, without looking at it. "You should drink that directly, Lupin."

"Yes, yes, I will," said Lupin.

"I made an entire cauldronful," Snape continued. "If you need more."

"I should probably take some again tomorrow. Thanks very much, Severus."

"Not at all," said Snape, but there was a look in his eye Harry didn't like. He backed out of the room, unsmiling and watchful.

Harry looked curiously at the goblet. Lupin smiled.

"Are you mad?" said Alphard.

"Excuse me?" said Lupin.

"You are either mad or desire death so much for drinking a potion made by Snape," he said.

Lupin burst out in laughter, remembering his old friend

"I mean, even my sister hated him ev- " he stopped.

Rosalie was sitting by the black lake all alone. Her grandmother forbade her from going, for an obvious reason, but she was thankful for it; at least, she can have time for herself. Suddenly, a black dog came near her.

"Oh, hello, little pup. Are you hungry?" she said as she gave him a sandwich that she kept from lunch. He barked softly and played with her for about an hour. She was pleased that she had company.

"Well, I have to go to dinner. See you soon. Wait, I should name you hummmm Padfoot.it Sounds great."

"Well Bye, Padfoot." She went to the castle as the black dog became a tall man with her same grey eyes.

"I missed you, Minifoot," he said.

**************

The dinner has ended. Rosalie was going to her common room until someone grabbed her shoulder, put his hand on her mouth, and she was against the wall of an empty corridor. She just got to her wand when she realized,

"Cedric, have you gone mad?" she whispered yelled.

"Well, I am madly in love with you, so yes," he said mockingly.

She looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

"You have been avoiding me for the couple of weeks, and this was my only chance. You are not okay. What happened?" he said with worried expressions.

"Well-uhm-"

"Go on, spit it out," he said.

"Grandma is willing to get me married as soon as I finish Hogwarts," she said quickly that Cedric hardly caught some words.

"So, that's why you avoided me this summer!" he said.

"Look, I love you so much, but I can't. I don't want you to risk your life. You know that we are impossible, even your father wouldn't approve our relaish-"

"Look at me very well, love. I might be a Hufflepuff, but I am as brave as a Gryffindor. Look, I'm a pureblood. My family might not be from the Sacred 28, but trust me, if it meant kidnapping you from 12 Grimmauld Place in front of your old grandmother, I would do it without second thought," he said then pulled her into a hug.

"I adore you, Diggory."

"Me too, Black."

They loved using their last names; it was just like proving that it didn't mean anything in front of their love.

He looked at her light grey eyes and pressed his lips against hers, feeling her tongue moving gently against his. It went like that for a moment until she pulled away but his mouth still close to hers.

"We have to go before curfew," she whispered.

"All right," he said. "I love you, Rosalie Andromeda Black more than what you think."

She giggled as he let go of her hand as she was heading toward the dungeons where the Slytherin house is. She was met by her cousin.

"We have to go upstairs; come on," said Draco.

"What? Why?"

"I don't know; Snape told us to go upstairs."

They soon realized that all the houses were there.
