Haunting Horcruxes II

It was the second day at 12 Grimmauld Place, breakfast was served, and everyone engaged in deep conversation.

"...And then I got detention for two weeks," Alphard chuckled.

"That's basically an approval from Minnie," Sirius remarked.

"Don't encourage him, Sirius," Mrs. Weasley interjected.

"Oh, come on, Molly, let him have fun," Sirius insisted.

Meanwhile, Regulus observed them with a small smile, lost in thought. Where was his niece? There was an Order meeting tonight; she was supposed to be here. She promised him she'd come. Was she late? Was she in danger? If there's something he learned about her in these months, it's that she could be as smart as Orion Black but also as stubborn as Sirius, her father. Did she find that Horcrux? Did she go to destroy it? Could she be dead?

"Reg?"

"Hm, I'm sorry, what did you say?" Regulus snapped out of his reverie.

"What's the matter? You look concerned," Sirius inquired.

"Nothing, I'm just thinking," Regulus replied.

Meanwhile, Rosalie found herself in an old cave. If her uncle hadn't told her about the one he found the necklace in, she would've believed it was the exact same one. She was far away in a cave in Scotland that she charmed so that whatever dark magic that ring possessed wouldn't leave that place. It was so cold and dark.

"Lumos," she whispered, taking out the ring. "Kreacher," she called.

"Yes, my lady," the house-elf responded.

"If I die in here, take the Horcrux to Uncle Regulus."

"Kreacher can't risk his mistress's life. Kreacher was ordered to protect mas-" he was interrupted by Rosalie.

"I AM YOUR MISTRESS, AND YOU WILL DO WHAT I SAY!" she screamed.

The house-elf nodded, and she continued, "If something goes wrong, don't save me. Just take my body to my brother," she instructed. Kreacher nodded, backing up with a sense of nostalgia. Should he go and call his other master? She put the ring down and stared at it.

"Au nom de la famille Black," she whispered.

She moved her wand, and a very dark soul emerged, resembling Dementors but stronger. They clutched her, holding her from every spot in her body. She felt something worse than the Cruciatus Curse, a pain both physical and mental. But she held her pain; she didn't scream, though her face betrayed her agony.

That black soul took the shape of a woman: Miss Riddle.

"What's your name, my dear?" Miss Riddle said with a smirk, while Rosalie endured the excruciating pain.

"Rosalie Black," she said coldly, her voice steady despite the torment.

"The Black heiress, the heir that was promised, came to destroy me!" Miss Riddle exclaimed. With every word, Rosalie neared death. She screamed, a deep, painful cry that surpassed human imagination.

"Granddaughter of the Blacks, Auclairs, and Lestranges, your maternal grandmother—oh, yes, I knew her. Tell me about their old magic, and I'll set you free," Miss Riddle taunted. Rosalie knew that whatever protected the Horcrux was related to Tom. She was smarter than to reveal pureblood family power secrets. A pureblood or even a blood traitor never answers such questions to half-bloods and Mudbloods.

The pain persisted, but Rosalie rose despite the grip of the entity.

"Corvus oculum corvi non eruit," she said, a raven never betrays another, which meant a Lestrange never betrays another.

"Avada Kedavra!" she yelled with all the power she had left. A green light filled the cave, and she collapsed on the floor. Blood covered every inch of her, every bone felt shattered. She wanted to cry but had no energy left. Slowly, she moved her fingers and retrieved the now broken ring. A grin formed on her face. "It was worth it," she thought.

"Kreacher, take me home," she said, her voice barely audible.

"Yes, Mistress. Kreacher lives to serve the noble House of Black."

With a snap, they disappeared.

Dumbledore, Minerva, Sirius, Regulus, Mad-Eye Moody, Molly, Arthur, Andromeda, Tonks, Edward (Ted) Tonks, and their daughter Nymphadora, including the Weasley kids and Alphard, sat in the dining room, eating dinner. A meeting would start soon, so they hurried the kids to the other side of the table. Alphard, Sirius, and Regulus were worried, especially Regulus.

A sudden coughing from the entry hall made everyone raise their wands. The door burst open, revealing Rosalie in torn clothes, blood covering her, visibly injured. Her face bore a black eye and a broken nose. She appeared weak, yet determined.

"Rose!" Alphard and Regulus exclaimed simultaneously, while Sirius stood in shock, unable to utter a word. His little star, his little princess, was suffering, and he couldn't do anything.

Rosalie glanced at the blood over the sink, holding her hand up. "D-don't. I'm f-fine," she said weakly, and they hesitated.

"Kids, to bed now," Molly commanded.

"But, Mum—" George started, earning a death glare that silenced him mid-sentence.

"But why can Alphard stay, we—" Ron protested.

"I said out, Ronald!" Rosalie's voice turned cold and dangerous as she fixed her piercing grey eyes on him, sending shivers down the Blacks' spines. It was the Black madness they all feared.

Fred, George, Ron, and Ginny departed without protest, leaving Molly to close the door behind them. Rosalie's eyes swept over the room, halting on the figure of Sirius Black, her father, whose mere presence stirred a tumult of emotions within her. It had been an eternity since she last saw him in person, his years of incarceration in Azkaban etched into his features. Despite the passage of time and the haunting memories of his wrongful imprisonment, she couldn't help but notice the undeniable familial resemblance and the echoes of his traits within herself. With a subtle nod, she acknowledged him, grappling with the complexity of her feelings, especially since she was raised under the solemn decree to mask her emotions from the outside world.

She wanted to sit in the chair but she almost fell since her left leg was clearly broken, but Regulus caught her.

"Are you sure you are all right?" he asked worriedly.

"Y-yes, I'm used to it," she said, letting go of him and sitting on the chair, passing her hand through her hair. "Miss Black, I was waiting for you," Dumbledore said with a tight smile.

The Blacks looked at him, silently communicating a 'shut it.' Rosalie took something from her pocket, revealing a silver ring with a big black diamond split in half. Regulus's eyes widened in realization.

"It's destroyed," Rosalie said, hardly breathing.

"Are you sure?" Minerva asked.

"A hundred percent positive."

"Well done, then, Miss Black. It's

a remarkable—," Albus was interrupted by Regulus slamming his hand on the counter, making Rosalie and Alphard flinch, while Andromeda side-hugged them, understanding their shared trauma.

"Reggie, stop it," she said.

As Regulus looked at his niece and nephew, seeing their miserable lives and foreseeing more misery, he exclaimed, "They are children, not weapons!"

"Im not allowing any of them in this, Alexandra died to save them, not for them to be raised as pigs and getting killed in the end," Sirius said calmly, gazing at Albus unblinkingly.

"I chose this path," Rosalie told Sirius, meeting his gaze. "That thing—I mean, Miss Riddle's soul—said that I shall be the heir that was promised," she informed Albus.

"But Alphard is the oldest; it's not possi—," Regulus started, only to be cut off by Sirius. "Nonsense! Who said that? My little girl was born first," he stated, looking at her with affection. Rosalie couldn't help but smile; he called her 'little girl,' his little girl.

Rosalie tried to focus, but everything seemed blurry, and the voices were a mess. She looked at her hand, placed under her breast; a deep injury was there, and she was starting to lose blood.

"Ria! Are you all right?" Alphard bent down to her, drawing everyone's attention.

"I-I'm perfectly f-fine," she said, hardly standing up. "I shall go," she declared.

"But you just came home," Sirius protested, his heart broken. He didn't expect his first meeting with his daughter to be like this, nor did Andromeda.

"This is not my home," she said, apologetically gazing at him. She realized today that she had to distance herself from her loved ones—her father, her uncle, her brother, everyone—knowing this wouldn't end well. "Rosalie, don't—" Regulus began.

"I'm going to be all right, and I'll visit you sooner than you think, I promise, Uncle Reg," she reassured him. "Kreacher, get me the potion kit."

And with that, she Disapparated outside, unaware that she had broken her blood family's hearts—all of them, her brother, her father, her uncle, and her aunts. Sirius didn't expect his first meeting with his daughter to be like that, nor did Andromeda.
