28. Stronger

"...stronger than you seem..."

Peter woke up in his own bed, which was a rarity these days. When he got home, he half got a lecture from May half was smothered by a bear hug. She promised never to mention the ordeal again if he was never so stupid again. He promised.

He probably was going to break the promise over the summer, but what she didn't know wouldn't hurt her.

It was the last week of school, and Peter had promised Ned he would be there all five days. All. Five. Days.

The next week was going to be hellish in the boring category. But hey, after that he would be staying with the Avengers! How cool was that?

"Hi Aunt May, bye Aunt May!" Peter announced as he sprinted through the kitchen. "Don't be late!" May called after him, barely missing the kiss blown at her by her nephew before he was scrambling down the hallway of their flat. He would be taking the tube to school again - not going as Spiderman. He also promised not to do that for the rest of the week.

Like he said; hellishly boring.

Peter popped his earbuds in as he jumped on the subway, crammed with the rest of the human sardines into the small train. It moved surprisingly fast, and he could barely read the graffiti on the walls of the tunnels. When his train stopped, he sprung out, and ran up to the school. He met Ned at the gate, who clapped him on the shoulder.

"Not only did you actually make it to school; but you're on time!" Ned announced with a chuckle, and Peter laughed along. "Yeah, sure. Great start to the week, am I right?" Him and his best friend walked up the steps into the school, being intercepted by Flash. Great start.

"Peter Parker? Have you lowered yourself to actually attending school? Though you'd be too busy with your Stark Internship!" He chuckled, and Peter hung his head slightly. Ned had his back with a smirk. "You're just jealous you've never met Tony Stark." He shot, and Flash sputtered. "Excuse me? I have too! And, I'm pretty sure Peter hasn't even!" He growled, quickly steering away from them and towards his friend group. Peter grinned at his buddy who gave him a thumbs up.

"I got your back. Honorary Avenger, am I right?"

They were cut off from their banter by the bell, and Peter bid Ned farewell as he dashed to class. He had English, which he shared with MJ but not Ned. He skidded into the room and his seat by MJ as the bell rang. "Cutting it close, Peter?" MJ drawled, quirking an eyebrow at him. "At least I'm here!" He whispered back humorously and MJ scoffed, going back to sketching.

The teacher started attendance, looking up at Peter while saying his name rather slowly. The message was clear; don't you dare miss my class again. He smiled sheepishly.

Halfway through class, Peter's phone vibrated, making him jump in the classroom quieted by silent reading. Thanks to his headphones, however, only he could hear it. Of course, ever since his senses were dialed up by the spider, he could hear his phone in the bottom of his backpack on silent. It was something to get used to - but great whenever he lost his phone.

Hiding behind the boring book the whole class was subjected to, Peter pulled out his phone. There was a text from an unknown number on his screen:

"Make it to class?"

Weird, it wasn't Tony, Happy or May, the only ones who would usually ask him such a question. His heart skipped a beat, when another text came through from another number.

"Stop turning your GPS off!"

Two numbers he didn't know, asking questions which clearly meant they knew him. This could be very bad. And, GPS?! Ok, that had Tony written all over it. Speak of the devil, and Tony texted.

"You turned your suit GPS off again - Nat and Clint are shreds away from flipping out. Bucky is literally pacing. Pretty sure if he or Steve could use a phone, they'd be texting you too."

Wait, what? Those texts were from Clint and Natasha? The Avengers were worried about him? The Avengers were tracking him?! That was... actually not surprising. At all. He sighed, his GPS must've been fried when those clouts trapped him in that warehouse. He'd have to get Ned to fix that when he got home or the Avengers were going to lock him in the compound as their pet for the whole summer.

"I'm at school- Peter was about to send, when he got three more texts from three new numbers. At least Wanda had the decency to tell him who it was.

"Kid, you better not go missing again or I swear I will go to wherever you are right now, beat the crap outta whoever is holding you hostage, and legit march you back to school. And then give you detention myself."

"Peter? It's Wanda, where are you? Did you make it to school?"

"Young man, I hope you're in school right now. As a dad myself, I can understand what Tony is going through. You are worrying him gray."

Peter stifled a groan of disbelief and quickly made them into contacts for who he could guess everyone was and snatched them all into a group chat.

"Ok, everyone calm down, I am at school. In English class."

He sent, glaring at his screen. He saw MJ quirking an eyebrow at him in his peripheral.

Clint: "Why are you texting in class?"

Clint's arrows were about to be mislabeled. Bomb and diffuser arrow colors? Switched.

"Good point. Leave me to learn! I'll see you guys friday!"

Peter shot back, turning back to his book. He clenched his jaw when he got another text. Oh my...

Tony: "Don't talk about my AI that way! Also; if we wait that long Steve may never recover. Happy will come pick you up after school."

Oh great, that wouldn't look suspicious at all.

Natasha: "Steve? We all can see who is pacing a muttering a drinking scotch here."

Nat texted, and Peter could almost hear her mocking laugh.

"Guys. Seriously."

Peter turned back to his book in satisfaction, only for his phone to buzz - again.

Scott: "Learn anything interesting?"

He was literally going to step on him. So he would probably be able to hold Peter's entire weight with one hand; he was still going to step on him.

"Not since you're all distracting me!"

Sam: "Distractions? You should be thanking us for making school less boring!"

He did actually have a point, Peter mused.

Unknown: "I got 8t!"

Tony: "You got ate? Who got 8?"

Unknown: "Shut up. I don't like you."

Natasha: "Bucky figured out his phone!"

Peter could barely contain his laughter at their banter, quickly making Bucky a contact.

Bucky: "Now Steve feels left out."

Tony: "Then he shouldn't have broken the phone I gave him with his monster strength."

Nat: "That was a complaint of Hulk's as well..."

Clint: "And Thor's."

"They need to make Avenger-durable phones."

Peter couldn't help but join the conversation, deciding this was too good to miss out on.

Tony: "There's an idea! My next project?"

"Vibranium motherboard?"

Tony: "Now you're speaking my language!"

Sam: "Hey little nerd; shouldn't you be getting to class?"

Peter scoffed. Now they wanted him to pay attention?

"Right, see you guys friday - as in the day, Mr. Stark."

Tony: "Don't you mean tonight? You're coming to the compound for a visit after school, aren't you?"

Nat: "Bye Peter. (He still calls you Mr. Stark, Tony?)"

Clint: "Seeya sonny. I feel old. (That's adorable.)"

Wanda: "Oh, right, bye! Vision and I were having too much fun laughing at the rest of you to contribute much. (I have to agree with Hawkeye.)"

Sam: "Sayanara sucker! (Hawkeye? Mr. Stark? You're both adorable.)"

Scott: "Learn something! (All kids are. So innocent.)"

Bucky: "Bye. (For now)"

Tony: "Way to make things morose, Bucky. Thanks for that."

Bucky: "It's your fault he's even involved in this kind of stuff!"

"No infighting! I have to get back to class! I'm breaking this up!"

Peter ended the chat dramatically, turning his attention back to his book just as the bell rang.

Perfect timing.

Anymore guesses who the mystery saviour is? I swear you're all going to smack yourselves. But it'll be awesome (and one of my favorite characters in the mcu! And I only have really three favorites so it shouldn't be hard ot figure out.)
Who likes Avengers fluff? I think they deserve some fluff after all the drama I put them through. I know, the last time I promised that things didn't go quite as planned, but now and in the future I'll be writing lots of fluff and sleepovers and boardgames and the Avengers being major parents because that kind of thing is hilarious.
Who wants more chat groups with the Avengers? *raises hand* oh wait, I'm the one writing it! I can write whatever I want!!! *fist pump*
