9 - Mare

Cal and I sit hand in hand and watch the sun set. again. Something feels different today though.
"Is everything ok," Cal asks, sensing my unease. I look up into his eyes before resting my head in his shoulder.
"What are we going to do?" I mumble.
"Honestly I've been thinking the same thing," he responds.
"I don't want to leave you again," I whisper, in return Cal kisses my forehead and stands.
"We should walk back before it gets any darker," he says.
As we back through many gardens of the palace, Cal stops and goes cold. It's an odd sensation, feeling someone who is always warm go cold.
"I think I just saw Nanabel," he says. From where we stand in the garden, you can make out a bright orange figure standing at the doors into the palace, of course Anabel will never give up her colours. I doubt Cal has seen Anabel since he gave up the crown. I untwine my fingers from his.
He turns to me, "you don't have to," I cut him off, "it's ok I'll give you two some time." Cal smiles and nods. When we reach ex-queen Anabel, I slide past her without a word. I couldn't care less about her.
As I make my way back to my quarters, I run into Eve.
"Where's your other half?" she asks smirking. I just roll my eyes.
"Anyway," she continues, "Farley wants to talk to you, she's in her quarters."
"What about?" I ask.
"I dunno, but I'm glad I found you here, I didn't want to walk in on anything," Evangeline says, she even has the audacity to wink. I feel my cheeks turn bright red, so I run off in the direction of Farley's quarters.

I knock on the door of Farley's quarters and she answers with a muffled "come in" I can hear Clara giggling behind the door. I open the door and step into the room and suddenly, Clara is in my arms.
"Did, did she just," I stammer.
"Jump?" Farley finishes for me.
"Yep, it started at around lunch," Farley explains.
I don't know when I started crying, but now the  tears come hot and fast down my cheeks. The fact that such a huge part of Shade is in his daughter, I just don't know how to feel.
