1 - Mare

Evangeline is always late. She takes to long preparing for sparring, fitting her metal sheets on to herself in a million different ways.
"Ah Evie, nice of you to show up"
"Elane insisted on cooking me breakfast, not that you'd know what it's like living with the person you love."
It wasn't meant to hurt, but it did, I miss Cal but I won't give Evangeline the satisfaction of victory so I turn my body away from her and begin to walk. She senses my discomfort and moves to my side.
"I'm sorry Mare I didn't mean to..."
I tear my eyes from the floor and look up into Eve's eyes.
"It doesn't matter," I grumble.
But I does, it's been a year since I left Cal on the air strip, and as much as I love Montfort and it has treated me and my family well, I can't help but miss Cal.

Evie and I pull on our sparring suits and stride into our positions. I strike first, the vein of electricity spiralling towards Evangeline's stomach. My lightning is met with a strong metal shield. We continue this until the healer decides to step in, stopping us from doing any permanent damage to each other. We sit laughing as the healer's hands dance along our bodies, removing any evidence of our fight.

As Evangeline and I walk back to our quarters, she stops abruptly and turns to face me.
"Elane and I were talking,"
I nod my head as if telling her to go on,
"I want to got back to Norta to visit Tolly and Wren."
My heart almost skips a beat. Going back to Norta, even for a little while, would mean seeing Cal. Eve notes my reaction with a smirk. It earns her an elbow to the ribs. We both laugh, a genuine laugh. She continues,
"Well do you want to come?"
She knows what my answer will be, so I decide to play with her,
"Well you see I'm terribly busy helping Tramy grow some flowers at the moment."
"Oh shut up Barrow, we are leaving in two days so better get packing"

I stride into my family's quarters with a smile on my face, I'm going back to Norta, back to Julian, to Sara and to Cal.
