Episode 11 - Away from Hyosan high school

Hello my beautiful and supportive readers!!!

First of all, I would like to apologise for not updating any new chapters as well as keeping you guys waiting for a long time. The last few weeks have been quite hectic with the beginning semester of my uni life, so at that moment, I decided to mainly focus on my study and pause for a moment in continuing writing this story. Once I had settled down with my class schedule and had free time, I would continue writing the next chapter. So, here I am!  Without wasting any more time, I would let you read this chapter.

Hope you guys understand the reason why I rarely update any new chapters for this story and enjoy reading it :)

***********

With the sudden presence of Gwinan through the window frame, the group of students began to panic as they quickly rose from their sitting position, suddenly feeling fear of what the one-eyed bully would do to them after his uninvited appearance at the school rooftop from the previous night.

“What the hell?” Mijin gasped in surprise upon seeing Gwinam’s bloody appearance.

“Cheongsan-ah!” Suhyeok shouted in alert when he saw Cheongsan charged forward and swung the baseball bat on his hand toward Gwinam. However, Cheongsan’s effort of trying to hit the school bully with the metal bat was a failure, seeing that Gwinam was able to dodge the incoming bat by moving away from the window frame.

After seeing Cheongsan fail to hit him, the Yoon boy used the opportunity to grab him by his shirt collar and banged him against the hard wall, in the process knocking him down on the concrete floor. Then, without losing any more precious time, Gwinam  jumped with a rush through the window frame to the platform and charged his way to Cheongsan. The Yoon boy proceeded with his revenge plan by harshly stomping his left shoe on top of Cheongsan’s chest. With his shoes pressed on top of Cheongsan’s chest, the one-eyed boy was able to keep the Lee boy stay put on the hard floor.

After watching Cheongsan was in trouble, Areum straight away knew that Suhyeok would most likely to help his close friend. Before the beauty could stopped him, the tall boy quickly charged his way to the school bully and ready to punch Gwinam on the face. Unfortunately, Gwinam noticed someone was approaching him through the corner of his one good eye and was able to avoid Suhyeok’s incoming fist. Instead, the Yoon boy managed to knock a punch on Suhyeok’s face and due to Gwinam’s strong blow from his newly found strength, the boy in the green blazer lost his balance and dropped off the edge of the construction’s platform.

“Suhyeok-ah!” Areum yelled upon seeing Suhyeok dangling on the platform with his hands. The vice class president’s brown eyes instantly widened in fear as she quickly stepped forward, completely ignoring both of Namra’s and Wujin’s warnings of danger and held onto Suhyeok’s hand so he would not fall from the building.

Sensing a presence beside her, the beauty quickly looked over at her side and saw Mijin, who was also helping Suhyeok from falling off the building. The two girls looked at each other and silently communicated through their eyes. With a nod signal from Areum, both of the girls managed to pull Suhyeok to the platform from the edge of the platform.

“Cheongsan-ah!” The vice class president overheard Onjo’s screaming for the Lee boy after Mijin and herself were able to help pulled Suhyeok from the edge of the platform.

Once they managed to pull Suhyeok on the platform, Areum managed to look over at  both Cheongsan and Gwinam. The scene in front of the beauty made her blood turn cold as Gwinam was currently holding Cheongsan’s shirt collar over the edge of the platform, a sign of threat to the rest of the group to not come near them. When Suhyeok caught sight of Areum’s stiff body, the tall boy helped her stand up and moved themselves near their group of friends. The pair of them continued to watch in fear as their helpless friend was being captivated at the edge of the platform by the school bully.

Cheongsan was in struggle when the one-eyed boy held him at the edge of the platform. Then, Cheongsan observed that Gwinam has become distracted by looking at the distress group of friends. The boy in the green vest took the chance by throwing a punch across the bully’s face. When Cheongsan tried to hit him for the second time, the Yoon boy managed to grab his left arm and slowly twisted it as he locked his eyes with the rest of the surviving students while Cheongsan cried in pain. To make it more painful, the one-eyed boy then sank his teeth into Cheongsan’s arm, causing the Lee boy to let out a loud agonising sound.

“Cheongsan!” Onjo called as she was being held by Hari from behind while the rest of the group were too stunned with what they had witnessed. Amidst the chaos, Suhyeok managed to pull Minjin back to the group upon seeing the short-haired senior girl from the corner of his eyes, trying to take steps forward to help the screaming boy.

Once Gwinam was quite satisfied with what he had done to the Lee boy in front of him, he then teared a flesh off of Cheongsan’s arm, making both Areum and Namra flinched in alarm when they were able to heard the sound of the blood squirting out of their friend’s arm.

Seconds later, Gwinam pushed the helpless boy against the hard wall, making the boy in the green vest whine in discomfort. The school bully then spat out the human flesh out of his mouth while grabbing a handful of Cheongsan hair and tilted his head, as if Gwinam was ready to bite him once again.

In the midst of the commotion between Cheongsan and Gwinam, Areum had ignored the quarrel in front of her when she overheard a distant high-pitch tone from the distance. When the high-pitch tone became more clearer near the school premises, both Areum and Namra suddenly whimpered in pain. The intelligent duo instantly covered their sensitive ears to block the sound, however there was no use seeing that they were still able to listen to the high frequency sound.

Oblivious to the intelligent duo, Wujin had noticed the strange behaviour of the two close friends. He continued to watch as Namra slowly slid down against the wall beside her as she could no longer stand the pain on her ear whereas Areum instantly fell to the platform floor whilst continuously shaking her head in discomfort. Seeing the two girls were in pain, Wujin was conflicted with who he should comfort, whether he should comfort his cousin or the girl he has feelings for.

Whilst pondering who he should comfort between the two intelligent duo, Wujin met his older sister’s eyes. The older Jang sibling gently gestured her head toward Namra, silently telling him to help her as Hari secretly knew her brother’s true feelings toward the class president. Wujin nodded his head in gratitude as he went to Namra’s side and soothed her pain by talking to her softly.

Earlier, unknown to Wujin, who seemed too busy considering in his mind who to help, Hari had noticed how her younger brother observed the two girls' unusual behaviour and saw his conflicted expression. Once her younger brother helped Namra, the older Jang sibling then quickly went to comfort her younger cousin. Hari held her younger cousin, who silently whimpered in pain, while glancing over at both Cheongsan and Gwinam.

The moment she looked at the two boys, Hari watched as Cheongsan roughly shoved Gwinam off the platform. Hearing the loud thud from below, it was confirmed that Gwinam had landed on the ground of the construction site.

Once the Yoon boy landed on the hard ground below them, Suhyeok took a moment to look at Areum, who was currently leaning against her cousin. The tall boy was unable to help her earlier as he was preoccupied in keeping the rest of his friends from approaching the commotion. Seeing the girl he likes was suffering, Suhyeok instantly became concerned about the beauty. Seconds later, Hari looked up when she felt someone was looking at them, only to see Suhyeok’s black eyes remained at Areum with worry. The older Jang sibling was able to reassure him that Areum would be fine once Suhyeok’s black eyes met hers. Once he checked up on Areum, Suhyeok returned his attention to his close friend, who took steps away from them in fear for their own safety.

“It’s okay.” Onjo reassured him as she slowly stepped forward toward Cheongsan. Unfortunately for the white hoodie girl, when Cheongsan saw her trying to approach him, the boy in the green vest cautiously took several steps back.

“It’s not what you think. It’s okay. Do you hear me?” Onjo said once she stood in front of Cheongsan. The white hoodie girl tried to hold her own tears, in fear of losing the only close friend that she considered as her own family.

“You’re going to be fine.” Onjo comforted the boy in the green vest.

“Onjo.” Cheongsan began with sorrow in his voice.

“No one’s dying. Not here. Not today.” The Lee boy continued. Upon hearing his words, Onjo shook her head in denial.

“Just don’t say anything. Let’s talk tomorrow, okay?” Onjo suggested, repeating the phrase that she used earlier in the morning when they were still inside the storage room in the auditorium.

Tears and sniffles could be seen and heard after watching and listening to both Onjo and Cheongsan. The rest of the students' bodies, except for Areum and Namra, watched as Cheongsan ripped off his name tag from his green vest and gave it to Onjo.

“You hold on to it for me.” Cheongsan said once Onjo held his name tag while slowly  taking out something from his trouser’s pocket.

“And I’ll hold onto this.” He added as he showed her name tag that was placed on his right palm.

Then, Cheongsan leaned down toward Onjo and pulled her into a soft kiss, giving her the final goodbye. Tears and sadness could be seen in their eyes once they pulled away from each other. Cheongsan gave the girl he had feelings a sad smile before turning away from her to jump over the window frame but in the last minute decision, the boy in the green vest turned back to Onjo and pulled her in for a last hug.

Through the pain she currently experiences with her sensitive hearing, Areum managed to look up and watched with sorrow as Cheongsan and Onjo hugged for the last time. Both of them finally let out their tears as they used this moment as a sense of comfort. Then, out of nowhere, Areum and the rest of the group watched as Cheongsan suddenly pulled away from the hug and gently pushed Onjo toward the group.

“Suhyeok-ah, go to the first floor.” Cheongsan ordered his close friend. Once Suhyeok nodded his head in acknowledgement, the boy in the green vest quickly hopped through the window before he could change his mind.

“Cheongsan!” Onjo cried as Suhyeok held her tight, preventing her from going after his close friend.

“Hey!” The rest of the students heard Cheongsan loudly screaming inside of the building in order to grab the attention of the zombies.

“All of you! Come after me! Today I am…” Cheongsan paused, taking a deep breath before continuing while hearing the nearby growling and snarling of the zombies. “...the happiest guy in this school!”

Just when the zombies came near him, Cheongsan immediately ran up the stairs to the next floor to make sure the zombies followed him from behind. With this strategy luring the zombies with his loud scream, Cheongsan hoped that the rest of the zombies would come after him, so that the rest of his friends could escape the construction building and escape to Yangdong.

When the growling and snarling zombies became distant, Mijin took the liberty to look at the situation inside of the building. Once she saw the inside of the building was clear of zombies, Mijin informed the rest of the group.

“Hari! Everyone, let’s go.” The short haired senior announced.

“We have to go.” The oldest Jang sibling instructed, stood up from her sitting position once she left Areum’s side after Suhyeok went to help her up.

“Rumnie-yah. Let’s go.” The tall boy said, wrapping his arms around her shoulder as he gently helped her stand up from the hard platform. One by one, the students began to climb back inside of the construction building. Being the last student to jump over the window frame, Suhyeok gently held Areum’s hand as she went inside of the building through the window. Once all of the group climbed over inside of the building, they hurriedly began to run down the stairs whilst hearing Cheongsan screaming a few floors above them.

“Hurry!” Mijin urged as the group ran down the stairwells.

“Let’s go faster. Come on.” Joonyeong said, motivated the rest of the group to continue to run down the stairs. When the group of students managed to get out of the construction building. Then, they continued to run toward the woods, the direction in where Onjo’s father had mentioned earlier. Unaware to the group of the surviving students, a split second after they escaped the building, Yoon Gwinam had recovered from his rough fall and set foot inside of the construction building once again. The school bully completely disregarded their escape as his main focus was to only get Cheongsan.

“Go, go, go.” Mijin urged once she noticed Onjo constantly watched behind them, hoping to see if Cheongsan was also able to escape out of the building.

***********

Few minutes after they entered the woods near the mountain, a sudden loud explosion from the school premises surprised the group of young teens as the ground beneath them shook violently. With the sudden shake of the earth, some of the students lost their balance and fell on the ground while the rest of the students turned back to the school property to see the huge explosion.

With the huge explosion near their location, a strong wind began to flow toward their direction. Ashes, debris and different types of scrapes from the school buildings have fallen from the sky. With danger coming toward the group of young teens, it had caused the surviving students to take cover from these fallen materials.

“Noona!” Wujin yelled as he left Namra’s side and ran toward his sister to push her away from the fallen sharp metal pipe.

“Are you okay?” The youngest Jang sibling asked once he managed to save his sister from being stabbed by the fallen metal pipe.

Before Hari could respond to his question, a sudden loudest boombing sound and strongest wind surrounded them. Screamed and shrieked of terror could be heard amongst the group of students as they remained still on their crounched position against the strong wind, hoping that everything would go past quickly.
