Episode 7 - The musical attraction

Each of the students inside the music room were working in harmony to prepare their escape plan. Both Areum and Namra were moving the long table from the front of the room to the unfinished barricade. When the two female duo lifted the table and put the table upside down on top of the long table, they accidentally made a loud noise.

“Hey. Keep it down. Be quiet” Wujin whispered to the two girls as he was alerted by the loud noise. Namra turned her body and looked down at the boy she likes as she mouthed the word sorry to him before fetching some chairs.

“Areum-ah. Help me tie this on the chairs and tables, so the barricade can stand long after the zombies swarm their way here. Can you go over to the other side of the barricade so we can tie them?” Hyeryeong asked the beauty after gathering all of the ropes.

“Sure.” Areum uttered as she walked her way toward the open gap at the end of the barricade to move to the other side of it to help the short haired girl tie the foundation of the barricade.

“They’re going to swarm all over it. So make sure to build a strong foundation.” Areum heard Joonyeong inform them as she walked past him to go over to the other side of the barricade to help Hyeryeong. Through the corner of her eyes, she could see that Daesu lifted the three seated bench over his head to look for a good spot to place them.

“Over there. Fill in the empty spot.” The boy with glasses instructed as he pointed his index finger toward the empty spot. The black haired girl then reached the open  gap and instantly spotted Suhyeok was lifting the table alone, which made the thoughtful girl to help him. Once the two of them managed to place the long table on top of another table, Suhyeok gave the black haired girl a soft smile in gratitude.

When the pathway was clear, Areum went to the other side of the unfinished barrier as the black haired girl accidentally jabbed her shoe against the edge of the wooden table, almost making her lose her footing. Luckily, Suhyeok was there to catch her as he wrapped his hands around her waist to stabilise her.

“Are you okay? Why did you fall this time?” Suhyeok asked as Areum could detect a teasing tone laced through his voice.

“Yah! I didn’t fall. I just didn’t see the edge of the table.” Areum uttered as she squinted her eyes toward the grinned boy. “It’s not funny.” The black haired girl mumbled to the tall boy.

“I know. It’s not funny. So be careful next time, okay?” Suhyeok advised as he placed her loose hair behind her ear. Nodding her head as a motion of understanding, the black haired girl then turned to look at Hyeryeong, who was pointing her index finger toward the ropes that she was holding on her other hand.

“I should go help Hyeryeong. We need to tie these barricades from falling apart.” Areum mentioned as Suhyeok nodding his hand in understanding. Removing his hands away from her waist, the tall boy watched Areum walk away from him to help Hyeryeong before he continued stacking the chairs and tables.

While the rest of the group of friends were busily stacking and tying the chairs and tables, Joonyeong was plugging the cord to the TV and unrolling the cord wires to their finished barricade while trying to avoid the growling zombies under the piano.

“It’s looking great.” Areum heard Daesu comment as the black haired girl, Namra and Hyeryeong were tying the barricades together.

***********

Once the students of class 2-5 finished building their barrier, Areum and Onjo went to check the situation outside of the room. The white hoodie girl slowly opened the red curtain as the two female students immediately saw that the hallway outside of the room was crawling with zombies. The beauty heavily sighed when she saw the zombies outside the hallway and left Onjo behind as Areum decided to help Namra in making sure the chairs were securely tied to the table.

The black haired girl stepped onto the wooden table as she began to check if the chairs were securely tied from falling apart. From the corner of her eyes, Areum could see Onjo fixing the red curtain closed on the window after looking at the situation outside the hallway. Stepping closer to the group of friends, the white hoodie girl sighed before informing her classmates.

“All right. I think this is good enough.” Onjo announced, making Cheongsan stop whatever he was doing as he turned to face her.

“Okay.” Cheongsan agreed as he stared at white hoodie girl.

“Aren’t you guys coming over? We left a gap over there for you.” Daesu mentioned as he grunted in exhaustion after tiptoeing his feet to see his friends on the other side over the top of the barrier. Just as the plump boy informed them, Areum climbed down from the table and stood beside her close friend, Namra.

“Let’s go.” Suhyeok suggested as he grabbed the chair near the intelligent duo as he put it beside the gap that Deasu mentioned and began to climb over the wooden cabinet. The black haired girl let Namra and Onjo climb over the cabinet before herself. Once they had climbed to the other side of the cabinet, Areum began to step onto the chair and climbed over the cabinet as Suhyeok helped her by lending his hand when she descended down from the cabinet.

“Cheongsan, climb over.” The black haired girl uttered as Areum and Suhyeok watched Cheongsan still standing on the other side of the barrier. Onjo, who heard the beauty’s statement, went to the pair of them and stood behind them as she looked at Cheongsan.

“Well. someone has to stay to open the door.” Cheongsan claimed as he remained on the other side of the room. Daesus, who was standing beside Areum, sighed when he heard his friend’s claim.

“Couldn’t you have come up with a better plan?” Daesu spoke as he looked over at the white hoodie girl.

“Yah, stop being mean.” Areum said as she glared at the plump boy, who quickly avoided her cold stare.

“It’s okay. I’ll come over right away.” Cheongsan reassured his friends. Sensing the thought that was running on his head, Areum quickly glanced over at Suhyeok as the tall boy seemed to have decided to help his close friend.

“Wait.” Suhyeok said, stopping Cheongsan’s movement. “I’ll go with you.” He continued.

“It’s fine.” Cheongsan uttered as Suhyeok grunted when he climbed over the wooden cabinet.

“It’s not fine.” Suhyeok mentioned as he jumped over from the cabinet as he took the chair and gave it to Cheongsan to defend himself. Once he passed the chair to his close friend, Suhyeok eyed the growling zombie under the piano while walking toward the speaker.

Managed to spot her brown eyes staring at him, Suhyeok silently managed to assure Areum through his eyes that he would be fine and would be there once he opened the sliding door. The black haired girl nodded her head in understanding as she shifted her eyes to Onjo.

“Let’s gather with the others, Onjo-ah. Don’t worry about them, They’ll be fine.” Areum comforted the white hoodie girl when she saw her worried expression. Pulling Onjo from worriedly watching the two male students, Areum led her to the others as the black haired girl could see Suhyeok carrying the speaker while Cheongsan took one more chair from the floor for his close friend.

“Something happened between you and Gwinam, right?” Suhyeok asked once they reached the front door and placed the speaker near the door entrance. “He said he wanted to kill you.” The tall boy continued talking.

“Shit. It’s because I saw him kill the principal.” Cheongsan replied as Suhyeok stared at him for further explanation. “I said I was going to tell the cops, so he tried to kill me.” The boy in the green vest added, making the tall boy sighed after hearing his side of the story.

“Crazy asshole.” Suhyeok cursed. Once they were done placing the speaker near the entrance door, Suhyeok faced his close friend and he reassured Cheongsan about Gwinam’s current situation.

“Gwinam’s dead.” Suhyeok informed as he looked at Cheongsan.

“Really?” The boy in the green vest asked in shock.

“Mm-hmm.” The tall boy nodded his head. “He fell from the fourth floor while we were fighting.” He continued.

After a moment of silence between the two of them, Suhyeok finally confessed, “And I like Areum.”

“What?” Cheongsan dumbfoundly asked as he was unable to listen properly to his friend’s confession.

“I’ve liked Areum for quite some time.” Suhyeok smiled as he looked at his friend’s disbelieving face.

“The classroom vice president? Son Areum?” Cheongsan asked with shock. When Suhyeok nodded his head as a response, the boy in the green smiled at his close friend’s happiness. “I thought you’re not serious about liking Areum. Gyeongsu and I even pestered you about this a million times.”

“Gyeongsu already knew about this. Even the rest of the guys knew. You’re the only one who doesn’t know as you’ve been preoccupied with other matters.” Suhyeok commented as he smiled when a flash of memories of Cheongsan and Gyeongsu kept pestering him with questions related to the classroom vice president whenever they got the chance.

“Then, what about the questions that you’ve asked me when we’re trying to get the phone from the teachers’ office earlier?” Cheongsan suspiciously asked when he remembered that Suhyeok had asked him if the tall boy should go out with Onjo on the window ledge outside of the school building.

“Just because…” Suhyeok said as he shrugged his shoulders. “...I wanted to see your reaction.” He mentioned with a grin on his face.

“Aish. Did you get the reaction that you want?” Cheongsan asked in annoyance.

“Mm-hm. I did.” The tall boy beamed as he nodded his head, making the boy in the green vest roll his eyes.

“So, be good to Onjo, okay?” Suhyeok advised as he patted Cheongsan’s left shoulder. “Don’t treat her like she’s a guy, you moron.”

“What are you looking at? You’re ready? I’m going to open the door.” Suhyeok said as he propelled his close friend toward the direction of the barricade. “Go. Get over there.” The tall boy ushered.

“Go.” Suhyeok ordered when he spotted Cheongsan was looking at him.

Walking near to the entrance door, Suhyeok glanced over at Cheongsan before opening the door for the flesh eating monsters coming inside the room. The boy in the green vest nodded his head as a signal to be careful. Once Cheongsan climbed over the wooden cabinet, the tall boy mentally counted down numbers in his head before finally sliding open the entrance door.

When the sound of the sliding was open, it immediately attracted the zombies on the hallways as Suhyeok quickly went to the blockage and jumped over it before the zombies caught him. Upon landing on the safe side of the barricade, Suhyeok pushed the long desk in a vertical position in front of the wooden cabinet in order to protect the barricade.

Seeing the zombies start to enter the room, Joonyeong hurriedly pushed the play button on the screen of the video camera. Classical music then could be heard in the room as more zombies kept coming inside the room. One by one, the zombies began to push their bodies through the tall barrier in front of them while the surviving students tried to keep the barricade from collapsing.

Trying to keep the barricade stable, Areum  used her body to steady the tall cabinet falling from the aggressive force from the zombies. Some of the items on top of the barricade that they built started to fall down toward the surviving students.

From the corner of her eyes, Areum saw a metal box falling toward Suhyeok from the top of the cabinet they were holding onto. The tall boy barely managed to dodge the metal box as it grazed across his left shoulder before completely falling on the cold floor.

“Oh, shit.” The black haired girl heard Daesu cursing beside her.

“Daesu-yah. Make some noise!” Onjo urged after she sneaked peek through the window to the school hallway.

“You zombie bastards!” The plump boy shouted as he held onto the wooden cabinet behind him. Once Daesu yelled, more zombies kept coming to the room and made aggressive pushes to the barricade as they tried to push their way over the obstacle.

“Do it one more time!” The white hoodie girl ordered as she saw more zombies come to the room after the plump boy yelled to lure them to the music room.

“Shit.” Daesu tiredly cussed after being asked to shout one more time.

“Come here, you fucking zombies!” The plump boy once again shouted, not noticing the beauty beside him was in pain due to his loud voice.

Listening to the loud yelling beside her, Areum winced in pain due to the loud noises. Trying to ease the pain, the beauty closed her eyes as she hid her pain expression away from Suhyeok’s eyes while continuing to hold the cabinet.

Minute after minute, all of the surviving students were trying their best to keep holding onto the barricade with the increasing number of zombies trying to push their way through the tall barrier. The female students were trying to make some noise with the instruments to lure more zombies whilst the male students except for Wujin tried their best to keep the barricade from toppling over from the aggressive force from the zombies.

Different kinds of noise from different instruments could be heard throughout the room. The beauty was trying to endure her pain by helping her friends luring the zombies by making some noise using her chosen instrument.

“Wujin-ah!” Cheongsan called after spotting Wujin looking over at the situation outside of the room.

“We can’t go yet! Hang on!” Wujin informed in a loud voice as he faced the group of friends. Times seem to slow down as Areum and the rest of her female friends produce loud noises using their perspective instruments while the male students try to stabilise the barricade from falling.

Without looking at the zombies on the other side of their barrier, Areum knew there were an increasing number of zombies coming inside the room as the zombies’ snarling and growling could be heard over the noises of the music instruments.

After spotting the struggles of the male students in holding the barricade and more items kept falling to the ground. Areum hurriedly left the music instrument behind and helped her friends steadying the barriers. However, the black haired girl did not notice the male zombie trying to reach her above the cabinet that she was supporting onto.

“Rumnie-yah!” Suhyeok yelled when he saw the zombie reach toward the beauty.

Fast to his reflex, the tall boy immediately grabbed onto the nearest item, which was the instrument bag, and pushed the zombie over the side of the barrier. Seeing the zombies begin to climb over the barricade, Suhyeok hitted them away from coming over to their side.

“Hey! It’s not going to hold up!” Hyeryeong shouted as she was struggling to keep the barricade from collapsing.

Overheard the short haired girl’s shout, Wujin averted his eyes away from the hallway to his friends, only to see they were indeed trying their best to keep the barricade stable as well as keeping the zombies away from their side.

“Fuck.” Wujin muttered when he watched their current situation.

“How much longer is it gonna take? When can we fucking go?!” Daesu asked in frustration. The Jang boy immediately looked over the situation in the hallways as more zombies ran to the room.

“A little more. Hang on!” Wujin mentioned as he watched his friends had difficulty in keeping the zombies away as well as keeping their barricade from falling apart.

***********

Once the coast was clear on the hallway, Wujin slowly slid open the back door and checked if both sides of the hallway were empty. After confirming it, Wujin immediately informed the rest of his friends.

“It’s clear! We have to go now!” Wujin claimed as he grabbed the metal stand from the floor. One student per time, Namra, Hyeryeong, Jimin and Joonyeong began to leave the barricade in order to leave the room.

“Hurry!” The Jang boy told the rest of his friends after fetching the metal stand from the floor.

Suhyeok nodded his head when he made eye contact with Areum, silently pleading with her to go. Not wanting to fight with their current situation, the black haired girl obeyed his instruction and left his side to the sliding door.

Not far behind her, Onjo was also leaving Cheongsan alone to hold the barrier. Standing beside Namra who was waiting for them with the rest of their friends, Areum saw the white hoodie girl paused beside her as Onjo looked over the three boys.

“Cheongsan-ah!” Onjo called, catching his attention.

“Go!” Cheongsan ordered the two boys, who stay behind with him.

“You go first!” Deasu insisted as the struggle could be seen on his facial expression. Cheongsan was hesitant to leave them while Suhyeok still remained in his position in defending their barricade from the hard force of the zombies.

“I’m going to shit my pants. Go! Now!” Daesu yelled when he saw his two friends still not leaving their spot. Listening to his friend, Suhyeok groaned in frustration as he quickly left his spot and ran to where Areum was standing.

“Come on.” Suhyeok urged his friends to leave the room.

“Let’s go.” Wujin insisted. Through the frantic situation, Suhyeok spotted Namra dragging Areum by her hand out of the music room while he tried to make Onjo leave the room after worriedly stared at her childhood friend.

Once Cheongsan and Daesu were able to leave the room, the surviving students ran through the empty hallway and they began to navigate their way toward the center stairwell in order to go to the rooftop. The group of friends rushed their way up to the stairwell while at the back of the group, Suhyeok and Cheongsan helped Deasu who was slipped on the floor.

Upon reaching the door of the rooftop, Cheongsan tried to turn the door knob, only to see it was locked from outside. The boy in the green vest put down the metal stand as he kept turning the door knobs as the sound of the door clattering could be heard by the rest of the group of friends.

“Come on. Open it.” Daesu instructed when he saw Cheongsan was unable to open the rooftop door.

“It’s locked.” Cheongsan uttered after stopped turning the door knobs.

“What? Move away.” The plump boy ordered as he began to pound his body against the door.

“Wait a minute. Step aside.” The boy in the green vest muttered when he caught sight of the keypad on the side of the door. Cheongsan in a dash went to the keypad as he clicked onto the keypad of the rooftop door.

Due to typing several incorrect passwords to access the rooftop door, the sound of an alarm started beeping from the keypad. Trying for the last attempt, Cheongsan pushed the password buttons to open the door, which once more caused the keypad to produce the beeping alarm.

“Shit.” The boy in the green vest cursed in frustration as he hit his fist against the wall beside the keypad.

Hyeryeong began to panic when she realised they were trapped with the zombies coming for them while Joonyeong rushed over to the door and pounded his fist against the metal door as he tried to shout to anyone outside of the rooftop,

“Is anyone there?” The boy with glasses shouted through the metal door and kept banging his fist against the door. “Anyone? Is anyone there? Open the door!” He desperately continued to yell.

“Nobody’s there! Get back. Hey, brother-in-law.” Daesu called Wujin’s nickname and asked for his best friend’s help to manually open the door with the force of his body.

Namra was observing from where she was standing beside Hyeryeong as the plump boy began the count down numbers before pounding their body against the door. Both Wujin and Daesu were grunting in frustration when they kept pushing open the door with their body force against the rooftop door.

“Fuck.” Suhyeok whispered when he saw their current situation before watching down the stairwell for any dangers.

Disregarding the noises coming from her friends, Areum, who was standing beside Suhyeok near the stair railing, was concentrating on listening to the distant snarling and growling of the zombies getting louder. Placing her hand on top of Suhyeok’s hand on the stair railing in alert, Suhyeok instantly lifted his head away from the staircase as he stared at the beauty in question.

“They’re coming.” Areum stated as she turned her head to face Suhyeok.

“What’s coming?” Suhyeok questioned as he tried to ease his breath. Instead of answering the tall boy, Areum returned her gaze toward the stairwell as she tried to concentrate on the numbers of zombies coming their way.

“Rumnie-yah.” Suhyeok called as he cupped her face using his right hand, making the black haired girl stare at his black eyes. “What’s coming, Areum-ah?” The tall boy repeated his question once again.

“Zombies.” Areum replied in one word. Once the tall boy heard her answer, Suhyeok looked over to Cheongsan, who also happened to listen to her reply. The two boys then had a silent conversation with each other and had agreed to defend the rest of their friends before the zombies reached them.

Once the two male students had decided to protect the group of friends from the flesh eating creatures, Cheongsan immediately left his spot and went to the platform of the stairwell while Suhyeok turned his face to look at Areum, who evidently worried about their situation.

“Be careful.” Areum whispered as she held onto Suhyeok’s hand that cupped her face. The tall boy reassured the beauty in front of him with a soft smile and a nod of his head.

Slowly removing his hand away from her face, Suhyeok joined Cheongsan on the platform of the stairwell while grabbing the wooden easel as they were waiting for the group of zombies to appear any moment.

Sensing someone standing behind her, the black haired girl glanced over her shoulder to see Namra, who comforted her by placing her hand on Areum's shoulder with a small smile.

Both of the intelligent duo then focused on their new sense of hearing toward the multiple steps of the incoming zombies. While the two girls could hear anything in the distance, the rest of the students' bodies could only hear the sound of the helicopter whirring nearby.

“They’re here.” Areum and Namra stated at the same time when they heard the loud snarling and growling from the zombies. Suhyeok took a quick glance over at the two girls when he heard them speak before returning his attention to the open stairwell. The rest of the group of friends were also intensely looking down on the stairwell in fear of the coming zombies.

Minutes passed by, suddenly a zombie started to appear with other zombies following behind it. The group of zombies then frantically climbed up the stairs toward the two male students. Suhyeok and Cheongsan then hit and kicked the zombies down the stairwell, preventing them from coming to the rest of their friends.

Helping one another in fighting the group of zombies, Suhyeok pulled Cheongsan away from the incoming zombie while Wujin and Daesu continued to pound their bodies against the door of the rooftop.

Areum, Namra and Onjo remained to their spot as they watched Suhyeok and Cheongsan fighted the zombies from biting them. The class vice president was trying to search for something to help the two boys as the group of zombies kept coming their way. Spotting the blue tarpaulin plastic sheet on the floor, Areum quickly rushed to grab it with Namra following her lead.

“Throw this over them!” Namra shouted as Onjo, Hyeryeong, Joonyeong and Jimin helped the two girls. They managed to throw the big plastic sheet over the zombies, shielding the two male students as the zombies slowed down their movement as well as their attack due to the obstacle in front of them. All of the students were holding onto the blue plastic sheet as the zombies kept trying to move forward towards the two boys.

“Hold onto it!” Joonyeong claimed to the rest of the female students.

“Come on. Hold it tight!” Hyeryeong encouraged them as they continued to hold the plastic sheet from falling from their grasp. Standing beside Namra, Areum could see through the corner of her eyes that Suhyeok and Cheongsan were fighting some of the zombies that managed to get out of the blue sheet.

Areum’s eyes were widened in surprise when she spotted someone who was supposed to be dead after falling from the fourth floor through the opened slit of the plastic sheet. The supposed dead person was climbing his way up to the staircase while holding the back of the shirt of the female zombie in front of him. Meanwhile, both Suhyeok and Cheongsan were surprised when they stared at Gwinam’s appearance after the bully boy was pushed through the window on the fourth floor.

The two boys watched as the one-eyed boy was climbing up the stairs with ease after managed to push some of the zombies out of his way with hard glare. Once he managed to push away the zombies, Gwinam lifted the female zombie higher as he smirked in arrogance toward the two boys, mainly toward Cheongsan as the bully boy finally got to achieve his revenge.

Before he managed to get Cheongsan, Gwinam threw the female zombie away toward Suhyeok’s direction in order to distract the tall boy from intervening in his revenge plan.
