Episode 10 - The escape plan

The sunrise began to lighten the small room through the only window inside the room. The students inside of the room were still sound asleep but Cheongsan had woken up earlier and looked at his friends. Then, the boy in the green vest landed his eyes at the two figures. Cheongsan held a small smile when he saw Suhyeok and Areum were sleeping next to each other, making the boy happy and at the same time, felt envious of the pair.

On top of that, Cheongsan finally noticed the heavy weight on his left shoulder. The boy glanced over and saw Onjo was sleeping as she leaned her head on top of his shoulder. Letting the white hoodie girl sleep on his shoulder, Cheongsan settled down thinking of his memories with his mother.

Couple minutes later, Onjo slowly woken up and lifted her head from Cheongsan’s shoulder, making the boy beside her look over at her direction. Feeling the tense of Cheongsan’s gaze, Onjo turned to face the boy and checked his current condition.

A pair of brown eyes met a pair of black eyes before one pair of eyes broke the eye contact. Cheongsan released a sigh as he broke the eye contact, leaving the pair of them in silent for a couple of seconds.

“I thought about it all night.” He began as he turned his whole attention toward Onjo.

“How do I live? What should I do?” The boy continued, making Onjo rapidly blinked her eyes when she was unable to think of any comforting answer at the moment to the boy who had feelings for her.

“Why don’t we talk about this later? Tomorrow or the day after. Or next week, maybe.” Onjo suggested before nodding her head toward her suggestion.

“Let’s get out of here and eat some food and shower first, okay? Then, we’ll talk about it. Okay?” She continued, waiting for a response for the boy sitting beside her.

“We have a lot to talk about, you know? Let’s give it time.” Onjo muttered when Cheongsan remained silent.

A couple seconds later, Cheongsan finally nodded his head in agreement with her suggestion before turning his devastated face away from Onjo.

“Whatever happens, please don’t give up. Okay?” Onjo advised about the loss of his mother when she spotted his dazed expression. The boy in the green vest nodded his head in acknowledgment to the girl beside him and muttered the word okay before facing Onjo.

“Never, okay?” She added, staring back at her friend’s eyes.

“Mm-hmm.” Cheongsan hummed whilst nodding his head in agreement. “You too.”

“Mm-hmm.” Onjo nodded her head as a response.

“It’ll be okay.” The girl reassured the boy beside her.

***********

Once the rest of the students woke up from their slumber sleep, they watched Namra rise up from her sitting position and went to stand in front of the bright window and kept staring at it. Quite curious why her close friend kept staring at the small window, Areum shifted her gaze from the class president to the sunny window. Few seconds staring into the small window, Areum finally could smell different types of scents coming from the window.

“What is it?” Suhyeok asked both Areum and Namra. Both of the intelligent duo did not give any response to him right away as they kept studying the only window in the small room.

“Do you see something?” The tall boy once again questioned the two girls as he glanced over at Areum, who was sitting beside him against the metal carts full of sport balls.

“The smell is getting stronger.” Areum replied, her brown eyes still lingered on the small window. Daesu frowned his eyebrows after hearing the class vice president’s words, immediately making the plump boy to sniff himself.

“I can’t really smell anything.” Daesu uttered as he looked over at Areum.

“I think they’re all coming this way. Just like Areum said earlier, the smell is really stronger.” Namra uttered as she walked to where Hyeryeong, Joonyeong and Deasu were sitting.

“It doesn't matter. We’re all trapped in here for good now. And there’s no way to get out.” Joonyeong spoke up once the class president reached the three of her classmates. Namra plopped herself down on the mat and sat with them in a small group of circles.

“Please don’t say that.” Hyeryeong softly mentioned after hearing Joonyeong’s negative thoughts of getting out of the small room.

“But it’s true. There’s no way out.” Joonyeong uttered.

“Aish, damn it. Let them kill us if they want.” Daesu complained in frustration as he stood up from the padded mat.

While listening to the plump boy's frustration, Areum spotted Namra picking up a baseball bat near her and tried to bend it using her newly found strength. However, with no avail, the class president could not bend the bat for unexplainable reasons. Then, Areum remembered her eldest cousin's sudden appearance amidst the zombie breakout. The beauty then turned her face and looked over at Hari with confusion on her facial expression.

“Unnie.” Areum called the eldest Jang sibling, instantly grabbing Daesu’s attention. “You didn’t fail in the preliminaries, did you?”

“Ah, right! I almost forgot. You didn't failed, right?” Wujin claimed, facing the senior girl once he remembered about his sister’s archery tournament.

Hari glanced at them before turning away. “No, I did really well.”

“You had a tournament. What happened? Why did you come to school?” The younger Jang sibling questioned, searching for any reaction he could get from his sister.

The eldest sibling continued to stare ahead of her, not minding to answer her brother's question. Then, Mijin, the students of 2-5 learned the name after being introduced, sat up beside the pair of siblings.

“You’re her brother?” She asked as she shoved both of her hands inside her pockets.

“Yeah, I am.” Wujin replied as the boy looked at Mijin.

“And you’re her cousin?” Mijin said as she shifted her eyes toward the black haired girl.

“Yes.” The beauty answered, nodding her head at the short haired senior student.

“She got a perfect score, so she made it to nationals. I saw her.” Mijin muttered, helping Hari with the situation that she currently faced. Both Areum and Wujin were surprised with the news coming from Mijin. The younger Jang sibling instantly shot his head toward his sister.

“Really?” He asked in shock after learning the news about his sister made it to the national.

Through the corner of her eyes, Areum noticed Hari was slightly glared at Mijin before turning her attention to Wujin. After spotting her eldest cousin’s expression, the beauty immediately knew that Hari did not make it to the national.

The beauty did not press the matter any longer when she saw the excitement on her male cousin’s face. Upon learning the expression her eldest cousin sent to her friend, Areum turned her head away and shared a look with Suhyeok. The tall boy instantly knew through their silent stare.

“Mm-hmm. It’s true.” Hari lied as she watched her younger brother smile in happiness for her achievement.

“Then, you’re really on the national team? Do Mom and Dad know?” Wujin asked as he stared at his sister.

“How could they? Look at what’s going on.” Mijin scoffed as she squinted her eyes at the excited boy, causing the excitement on Wujin’s expression to slowly disappear at her harsh words.

“She jumped out of the archery bus and ran to school to find the two of you.” She continued.

“Kids.” The senior short haired girl spoke, gaining both Areum and Wujin’s attention as they  looked at her. “You guys should be good to her.”

“And to me too.” She whispered, causing Wujin to give her a confused look while Areum held a small smile at the short haired girl. Then seconds later, the boy leaned over to his sister.

“Who is she? Why does she keep talking for you?” He asked in a low tone of voice, only for Hari to hear them.

“She’s my friend.” Hari replied, shifting her eyes to look at her friend.

“Yeah. We’re freaking besties.” Mijin grinned from ear to ear as she looked away in delight. Out of blue, Areum spotted Daesu was walking toward their direction and once he reached them, the plump boy stood in front of the three of them.

“Ah jeez, you scared me.” Wujin was startled in surprise when a shadow out of nowhere appeared in front of them. With the shadow hovering over the three students, both of the senior female students and Wujin looked up to see Daesu with a serious expression.

“What’s your deal?” Mijin asked as she stared at the plump boy in front of her.

Daesu cleared his throat due to his nervousness, causing Areum to nudge her elbow on Suhyeok’s upper body which gained his attention. When Suhyeok felt a nudge on his upper body, the tall boy turned to the beauty beside him and watched as the black haired girl nodded her head toward Daesu, who nervously stood in front of the girl he had feelings for. Not only Areum and Suhyeok watched Daesu but the rest of the surviving students were also looking at his action.

“I…” The plump boy stopped as he avoided looking at Hari by gazing his eyes to the floor due to the rise of anxious feeling.

“You?” The short haired senior girl uttered with uncertainty.

“I think you’re the perfect girl.” The plump boy admitted as he bravely lifted his eyes to look at the eldest Jang sibling.

“What? You freak.” Wujin commented after witnessing his best friend confessing to his sister.

“Yah. What’s wrong with you?” He asked as he kept glancing between his sister and his best friend.

“I watched you when you were shooting your arrows, I saw you train every morning. I even went to every tournament and cheered for you. I’m the one who yelled ‘Bronzed beauty Jang Hari’.” Daesu began to ramble in his confession.

In the middle of his confession, Wujin covered his sister’s ears while the plump boy still continued with his love confession toward the eldest Jang sibling.

“I really liked you for many years. Now, I want to be a man, not just a fan.” Daesu finally revealed to the archery girl, making the rest of his friends watch him with disbelief.

“I’m going to die anyway. So I want to say what I want first.” The plump boy added as Wujin removed his hands on his sister’s ears and stared at his best with disbelief.

Upon hearing the nervous plump boy confessing his love, Mijin could not help but hold a goofy grin before turning to look at the girl who received the confession, only to see Hari stare blankly at the plump boy.

On the other side of the room, both Suhyeok and Areum chuckled in amusement when they watched Daesu bravely confessing to the eldest Jang sibling. When Wujin heard the distant chuckle coming from the pair beside him, the boy turned his head and shot glares in their way, which caused the pair to quickly look away in order to avoid looking at Wujin’s sharp gaze.

While avoiding looking at her cousin glares, Areum spotted Joonyeong held a grinned when he looked away from Daesu as he placed his right hand on top of Hyeryeong’s lap, which made the short haired girl glanced between the boy and his hand before she removed his hand away from her lap. The beauty silently laughed as Hyeryeong effortlessly moved Joonyeong’s hand  away after the boy laughed at his friend’s braven confession.

“This is awesome.” Mijin commented with a grin on her face.

“You’re Daesu, right?” Hari questioned as Daesu looked over at his name tag on his school vest. “The one who calls my brother ‘brother-in-law’?”

“Yeah.” Daesu smiled when Hari acknowledged the nickname he called for his best friend. “So, that means you knew.”

“Brother-in-law, did you tell her?” The plump boy asked, shifting his eyes toward Wujin while he nervously fiddled with his hands.

“Yeah, I might have.” Wujin muttered with an emotionless tone of voice.

Then, Areum watched as Hari extended her right hand toward the plump boy, in which Daesu quickly wiped his sweaty hands on the back of his pants before taking her hand and pulled her up to stand.

“It must be nice to meet me.” Hari uttered once she stood up.

“Yes.” Daesu shyly replied as he looked at the floor in embarrassment.

“Then, you’re okay with dying?” The female archer calmly said.

“Yes.” The boy quickly replied without even noticing the question the girl was asking about.

Seconds later, Daesu finally realised what Hari was asking about, making the boy quite flustered with her request. “What? Today?”

Out of nowhere, Hari started to punch the boy in the stomach, making him let out a groan. Different types of reactions could be seen through the bystanders’ expression. Wujin only laughed at her sister’s action, Areum was biting her lips as she tried to stop her laughter while the rest of the students were gasping at the unexpected scene. Then, they continued to watch Hari kneed Daesu in the stomach and slapped her hand at the back of his neck.

“Good. I’m pissed off and need to vent.” The female archer revealed as Daesu fell on the floor and crawled away from the angry girl.

“Wujin, stop her.” The plump boy muttered as he crawled to his best friend.

Eventhough he quite annoyed with Daesu’s sudden confession to his sister, Wujin helped his best friend by covered the scared boy while his sister tried to grab him. The younger Jang sibling was then grabbed by Mijin as the senior short haired girl motioned the boy to move away from the pair.

“Come here. Get over here.” Hari ordered as she moved her brother away from his best friend before following the scared boy to the carts full of sports balls.

“I’m sorry. I was wrong.” Daesu apologised in fear as he managed to get off from the crawling position and stood behind the cart that he placed between himself and the fuming female archer.

Watching the surprising scene in front of them, both Suhyeok and Areum scooted away from the pair before something worse happened. The tall boy quickly moved over to the empty space on his left side while Areum moved to sit on Suhyeok’s previous seat.

“No. I’m glad you told me.” Hari said as she tried to lure the plump boy away from hiding behind the moving cart.

“No, that’s not it.” Daesu tried to explain however Hari was too fuming to care what he was trying to say.

“Yes, it is. Get over here right now.” The eldest Jang sibling uttered in rage as she tried to reach over at the plump boy.

“No, I…Why don’t you understand? I really like you.” Daesu claimed in frustration as he kept the cart in front of him as a shield.

“Get over here, dear husband.” The female archer sarcastically uttered as she shook the cart more roughly.

“Wujin, hey!” Daesu called for help from his best friend.

However, Wujin just remained on his seat beside Mijin as he laughed at the scene of his sister scaring the plump boy that was hiding behind the metal rack. Quite frustrated with the boy in front of her, Hari quickly grabbed the volleyball inside the metal cart and threw it in his direction.

“Come here.” Hari claimed as she continued to throw the balls at him.

Daesu managed to dodge the incoming balls while Wujin encouraged his sister to beat the sense of his best friend. Minji was laughing when she saw Daesu's silly tactic to dodge the ball that Hari was about to throw.

“Oh, what’s that?” The plump boy asked as he pointed toward the double door of the small room.

His small action had made Hari stopped tossing the ball as she turned her attention to the direction where he had pointed. Areum silently giggled when she watched Hari had fallen onto Daesu’s childish trick.

When Hari did not see anything suspicious, the female archer were nearly letting out a curse before looking back at the plump boy and kept throwing the balls to Daesu. The plump boy once again was able to avoid the incoming ball and he managed to wear the bicycle helmet that he found on the floor.

Areum let out a laugh when she watched Daesu frantically dodged her cousin's tossing balls at him as the plump boy also managed to wear the helmet for the safety of his head. Suhyeok chuckle in amusement when he saw Areum found the argument to be funny. Seeing Areum laughing had lifted a little bit of his worry after yesterday's incident. The tall boy watched as the girl he had feelings for moved her legs out of the way as the balls rolled past them.

“Come here. I’m going to get you, asshole!” Hari claimed in anger. Then, an idea started to pop up in Suhyeok’s mind after watching Areum avoid the balls that rolled on the floor.

Ignoring the commotion between Hari and Daesu, Suhyeok reached over the beauty to grab one of the balls on the floor. When the black haired girl sensed Suhyeok’s presence closer to her, Areum turned her attention to him and watched as the tall boy was staring at the volleyball on his hand.

“What’s wrong?” Areum curiously asked after watching the tall boy intensely stare at the volleyball.

“I think I just got an idea.” Suhyeok said with a smile on his face as he met her brown eyes.

***********

Suhyeok stood up from the floor with the ball in his hand, startling the beauty in the process and placed the volleyball inside the cart. The tall boy grabbed hold of the metal cart and shook it before kicking it using his leg, producing some clanking sound.

“What are you doing? Joonyeong asked, standing behind the tall boy.

“Can we move this? Do you think it’s possible?” Suhyeok questioned as he shifted his attention to the intelligent boy. Joonyeong did not respond to Suhyeok’s question, causing the tall boy to look back to others before lingering his eyes toward Areum.

“There’s wheels on them, so we're able to move the carts.” Areum spoke as she and the rest of her friends stood up as they joined the two boys.

“We can tie all of the carts in a circle, then we can use them as a shield.” Suhyeok told his idea to the rest of his friends.

Once they heard Suhyeok’s idea to get out of the small room, the surviving students went into action. Areum, Namra, Onjo and Hyeryeong were picking up the padded mats that were laying on the floor and gave them to Suhyeok and Wujin, who were stacking them against the shelf. Daesu was grabbing the tool boxes and passed it to Joonyeong and Cheongsan whilst the two senior female students were waiting for the floor to be clear for them to move the metal charts around the room.

Once they finished moving the padded mats as well as the tool boxes, Areum, Suhyeok Onjo, Hyeryeong and Joonyeong were searching through the tool boxes for any suitable materials that they could use to tie the carts together. After spotting the white strings on one of the tool boxes, they began to tie the metal racks.

Suhyeok, Hyeryeong and Hari were cutting the strings that they found in the tool box into appropriate lengths. Cheongsan, Daesu and Mijin were currently drilling boards into some of the metal carts whilst the rest of the students were moving the metal racks in a circle position to shield them after leaving the storage room.

“Hey. There’s no way this is going to work. We should flip it over completely, so we can hide underneath.” Areum heard Mijin comments as she helped Onjo and Hyeryeong tying the metal racks together.

“No. We should stand it up.” Wujin mentioned when the boy disagreed with Mijin’s suggestion.

“Hey. You think the zombies can’t climb this?” Mijin asked, pointing toward the structure of the metal cart they were currently making.

“That’s enough.” The youngest Jang sibling sighed in exhaustion, not wanting to argue with his sister’s friend.

“Don’t be stupid. Untie all of them. Let’s redo them again. You guys should listen to your seniors.” The short haired girl insisted as she began to untie the string on the metal rack.

“It’s too short if we close the lids. What? You want us to crawl under these things?” Joonyeong remarked when he heard Mijin’s plan.

“Must she pull rank right now?” Joonyeong murmured under his breath while opening the metal lid. However, Mijin could hear the boy’s remarks, making the senior female student quickly lose her temper.

“Yah, what did you say?” The short haired girl said loudly as she approached the rude boy and closed the lid back on its normal position. The loud voice had caught the attention of the rest of the students.

“If you don’t like it, make your own.” Joonyeong muttered, moving to the side of the cart to tie it with another cart. Mijin let out a scoff as she began to lose her temper.

Hearing the two students' exchanges, Areum knew that an argument would start at any moment. The beauty’s intuition was right when she saw the senior student move behind Joonyeong and shoved him roughly in the head, instantly making the boy stop his action.

“Hey. What’s wrong with you?” Wujin said as he stood up for his friend. The younger Jang sibling placed his hand at Joonyeong’s back as he faced the senior girl.

“Noona, stop her.” Wujin uttered as he looked over at Hari, who just remained standing with a blank face.

“Unnie, you can’t stop her?” Areum asked as the black haired reached her eldest cousin. Hari looked over at her cousin and shook her head.

“What’s the point of telling her to stop when she’ll not listen to me.” Hari said as she glanced back to start at Joonyeong and Mijin.

“Say that again.” The short haired senior girl challenged.

“So what if you’re older. Do everyone a favour and stay out of our way.” Joonyeong hissed in anger.

The senior girl instantly pushed him on the shoulder, making him stumble back a bit. She was about to grab his head but the boy managed to grab her arm. However, the short haired girl had more experience with fighting people as she kicked him in the ankle.

“Fuck you.” Joonyeong cursed as he hunched in pain.

“‘Fuck you’?” Mijin shouted, once again trying to hit the boy in front of her before Suhyeok intervened in the fight between the two students.

“Stop it.” Suhyeok sternly ordered before shifting his gaze toward his friend. “Joonyeong-ah, you too.”

“Who the hell is she to tell us we have to redo it?” Joonyeong claimed as he looked at the tall boy.

“‘Who the hell is she’? Your fucking nightmare.” Mijin argued, not wanting to lose in their current argument.

“Seonbae, you’re coming with us, right? Can you stop picking a fight with someone?” Areum spoke up, calmly stared at the senior girl as she went to approach the two arguing students and stood behind Suhyeok.

“You’re the ones coming with me and he’s the one who picks the fight with me.” Mijin retorted, motioning her head to Joonyeong’s direction before she glared at the beauty behind Suhyeok.

The beauty could sense that Mijin felt challenged when the junior students led the two female senior students in planning their escape route out of the small room. Completely ignoring the senior student’s retort, Areum moved her eyes to look at Joonyeong.

“Joonyeong-ah, we’re not leaving the seniors, right? I know you’re not that type of person.” The beauty uttered as she stared at her classmate, who kept glaring at the senior in front of him.

“Of course not.” Joonyeong replied as he shifted his attention away from the senior student to the class vice president.

“Then, why are you fighting? We’re going together anyway.” Suhyeok added as he watched Joonyeong’s reaction.

“Just do as I say unless you want to die out there. Which you might.” Mijin mentioned as she glared at Joonyeong in anger.

“We’re trying to make it high, so we don’t die out there.” The intelligent boy argued back as he stepped forward toward the girl.

“Enough already.”

“Stop fighting.” Both Areum and Suhyeok shouted at the same time as the both of them were tired hearing the two students argue over small things.

“How many of us have died on our way here? We can’t lose anyone anymore.” Suhyeok strictly muttered as he glanced between the two arguing students.

“If you keep fighting and don’t come up with any agreement, more of us will die because of your actions. So, stop arguing with each other. It’s not worth it” Areum sternly told the two students.

“I’m not fighting to die. It’s because I want to live.” Joonyeong replied back as he looked at his friends.

“Then, do as I say, asshole.” The short haired senior girl interfered, making the intelligent boy release a deep sigh due to the exhaustion of arguing with the girl.

“Then, let’s go separately. Make it yourself.” The smart boy announced as he rudely flipped shut the lid of the metal cart, making the nearby hula hoops fall to the ground. Joonyeong walked away from the argument, causing the senior to let out a curse due to being unsatisfied with their outcome argument.

“That fucker. You hear me. Get back here!” Mijin loudly called, ready to launch herself toward the intelligent boy.

However, Suhyeok stopped her by placing his hands on her shoulder before she managed to pick another fight with anyone else. Still restraining the senior girl from going after his friend, the tall boy shared a look with Areum as Suhyeok silently asked the beauty the solution to stop this fight.

“Let go of me, asshole!” The short hair girl yelled, roughly thrashed away from Suhyeok’s held.

“You think I’m doing this because I want to die?” She furiously shouted.

When Namra watched the situation become escalating and the shared look between Areum and Suhyeok, the class president quickly pushed the metal cart against each other, which caught everyone’s attention.

“Let’s vote on it.” The class president softly announced once the room became quiet.

“And who are you?” The short haired girl asked with an unpleasant voice.

“The classroom president.” Namra replied.

***********

Areum was standing beside Namra as she leaned against the entrance double door of the room while the rest of the students were on the other side of the room, facing the two intelligent duo. Onjo, Hari, Wujin and Deasu were sitting on the edge of the cart but Mijin was comfortably sitting on top of the cart lid. Hyeryeong, Suhyeok, Cheongsan and Joonyeong remained standing.

“First vote. We split up.” Namra uttered with a monotone voice. No one in the group raised their hands to vote for this option. Areum observed that the group of friends glanced at one another to see if anyone would vote.

“Second vote. We stay together.” Once Namra finished speaking, Daesu instantly raised his hand higher before the rest of the friends also mimicked his action. Namra could see through the corner of her eyes that Areum also raised her hand on their second option.

“We’ll go together. Next-” Before Namra could began the voting for the method of the cart lid, Daesu interfered before the class president began the voting.

“Is it smart to vote on life and death matters and just follow the majority? What if we collectively decide to do the wrong thing?” Daesu asked as he doubted how votings were able to save them from the zombies.

“There’s something called collective intelligence.” Hyeryeong commented as she glanced at the plump boy beside her.

“There are too many unintelligent people here.” The plump boy sneaked a glance at Mijin.

The boy shifted his eyes away when Mijin mouthed at what he was looking at before he leave a snarky comment about the situation earlier. “It doesn’t work that way.”

“So, what do you suggest we should do?” The short haired girl questioned. “Should we vote about voting?”

“Yah, how do you kids survive until now?” Mijin judged while putting her hands on the pocket of her white jacket.

“I’m sorry but will you butt out? We’re doing this because you started a fight.” Daesu claimed.

Areum rolled her eyes when she heard Mijin ask Hari for an arrow so that she could stab him. Too tired to listen to their fight, the beauty spoke up before the argument surged up.

“We’ll proceed to the next voting and please, stop fighting.” Areum said with a cold tone as she smiled at Daesu and Mijin. The plump boy shuddered when he watched the beauty’s expression.

“First option, we make the outside higher.” Namra finished as she watched Joonyeong quickly raise his hand, which were followed by Suhyeok and Onjo. The two intelligent duo then watched as Onjo glanced at Cheongsan before she lifted his hand for the voting. Couple of seconds later, Daesu also hoisted his hand.

“There are five votes. Second option, we fold the lids and make a box.” The class president continued. Mijin, Wujin, Hyeryeong and Hari raised their hands once the voting session began.

“There are four votes.” Namra revealed.

“What the hell? You said it’s better to stand them up.” Daesu mentioned once he discovered Wujin voting for the second option.

“I changed my mind.” Wujin stated.

“Option one received the majority vote, so we’ll make the wall high.” Namra announced whilst Daesu nodded his head, completely agreeing with what she said.

“Hey, wait. What about the two of you? If one of you picks the second option, it’ll be tied. Then the option will be decided with the last person’s pick.” Mijin uttered, needing to hear the two duos’ picks.

“I chose the second option.” Namra answered before facing her close friend.

“Sorry.” She whispered, feeling guilty for letting her close friend decide their final option using her voting. Sensing all of their eyes on her, Areum sighed when she would be the one to break the tie of their voting.

“I’m going to vote on option one. Just because we’re in a large group, it'll be difficult for us to move while crouching.” The beauty muttered.

Mijin clicked her tongue in frustration before letting out a curse out of her mouth. “Oh, fuck.”

“Hey, let’s make it.” Joonyeong instructed the rest of the group.

Everyone began to move as they continued what they were doing before they stopped because of the argument between the short haired senior  and the smart boy.

“Yah, don’t resent me later. The zombies really will climb over.” Mijin warned as she still sat on top of the cart lid.

“I’ll lead the way and take responsibility. So, you can stand back.” The smart boy spoke before walking away.

“Aish, that prick. Hey, why are kids so damn rude these days?” Mijin asked Hari in an annoyed tone of voice.

“And you’re not?” Hari simply stated as she looked at her friend with a blank stare before walking away to help the junior students.

“Don’t say that in front of the underclassmen.” The short haired senior mumbled in embarrassment after being told off by her friend.

***********

The group of students were busily doing their tasks when Cheongsan looked at the baskets full of protective gears on the shelf on the corner of the room. While rummaging through one of the baskets, the Lee boy spotted a chocolate bar. He quickly grabbed it and looked at it with disbelief as he had not eaten for days.

“Hey. I found a chocolate bar.” Cheongsan revealed, instantly grabbing everyone’s attention.

Both Daesu and Wujin quickly went to Cheongsan’s side. The plump boy snatched the chocolate bar from his friend’s grasp and checked for the expired date on the plastic cover while Wujin tried to search for more chocolate bars in the basket.

“You think we can eat it?” Daesu mentioned as he flipped over the chocolate bar for the expired date as Suhyeok and Joonyeong patiently waited for an answer. Once the plump boy spotted the expiration date, he sighed in frustration.

“Ah, it’s past the expiration date.” He uttered.

“Can’t we just eat it?” Suhyeok asked as he stepped forward toward the plump boy.

“Of course we can.” Daesu replied in confidence.

Once all of the friends heard his confidence statement, all of them stood in a circle as Daesu calculated the amount of chocolate bite for the total of students' bodies. When the plump boy unwrapped the plastic cover of the chocolate bar, he lifted his gaze to his best friend.

“You have to take tiny bites.” He said before hesitatingly giving the chocolate bar to Wujin.

“Me first?” The younger Jang sibling asked when Daesu gave him the unwrapped treat and skipped Joonyeong, who was standing in between them.

“We all need to have a bite, okay?” The plump boy firmly warned when Wujin grabbed the unwrapped treat. When Wujin took 15% off the bar, Daesu groaned in irritation before complaining about his best friend's action.

“Damn it. I said to take a small bite.” He complained as he lowered his head in frustration before sending glares at the younger Jang.

“I only ate this much.” Wujin argued as he mentioned how small a bite he took with his fingers.

“Selfish bastard.” Daesu mumbled under his breath.

Areum rolled her eyes when she overheard what the plump boy said as she watched her cousin give the chocolate bar to the next person , which was Onjo. When it was Onjo’s turn, both Areum and Namra heard the plump boy gulp at the sight of his friends taking a bite of the chocolate bar.

“I’m already full.” Mijin lied when she received the chocolate bar from Onjo.

Then the short haired senior gave the bar to the person beside her. Hyeryeong grabbed the chocolate bar from the senior’s outstretched hand and quickly took a small bite from the bar. Once she finished, Hyeryeong quickly handed it to Namra, who quickly shook her head at the sight of the chocolate bar. Seeing the chocolate bar had quickly reduced her appetite eventhough she felt hungry at the moment.

After seeing the class president reject the chocolate from her extended hand, Hyeryeong then gave it to Areum, who took it from her hand. The beauty only  looked at the chocolate bar at her hand as the sight of the chocolate bar did not crave her hunger. The black haired girl quickly gave the bar to Suhyeok, who was standing closely beside her.

“Eat it.” Suhyeok muttered after he watched the girl he had feelings for did not take a bite of the chocolate bar on her hand. The only response he received from the beauty was a shake of her head with a pained expression on her face.

“I can’t.” The black haired girl quietly whispered, only for Suhyeok to be able to hear her.

With a heavy heart, the tall boy took the chocolate bar from her hand and quickly took a bite before giving it to Cheongsan. Before taking a bite, Cheongsan examined how much left the bar was. Once he saw it was enough for the rest of the remaining students, he took a small bite out of it.

Through the corner of her eyes, Areum noticed Daesu stood from sitting on the edge of the metal cart as his eyes lingered to the chocolate bar that was being passed from one to another.

“I’m also full. Here.” Hari revealed as she stared at the bitten chocolate bar before handing it to Daesu, who once again sat on the edge of the metal rack.

Grabbing the bar from the eldest Jang, the plump boy quickly ate the rest of the bar happily, completely forgetting about the boy beside him, who did not have any bite of the chocolate bar.

“Yah! Daesu.”

“Hey!”

Both Areum and Wujin spoke at the same time when they saw the plump boy completely eat the chocolate bar as he did not leave some for Joonyeong, who was standing beside him with a motionless expression.

“What?” Daesu asked with confusion in his eyes.

“Joonyeong didn’t have any.” Wujin explained as he stepped forward to his friends.

“How could you eat it all?” He continued.

When he listened to Wujin’s words, Daesu slowly turned his face to glance at Joonyeong, only to see the intelligent boy stare at the plump boy with scepticism. The plump boy instantly stood from his sitting position in alarm while the rest of the group stared at him with mixed expression.

“I…I thought I was last.” Daesu stammered, looking over all of us before shifting his eyes to his intelligent friend. “I’m really sorry.”

“Aish.” Mijin cursed as she annoyedly listened to their conversation. Before any fights and arguments about to begin between the group of friends, Areum spoke up.

“Let’s just put on some protection before we go out.” The beauty advised as she glanced at all of the students’ bodies before stared at the plump boy. The rest of the surviving students nodded their heads in agreement.

“By the way, Daesu-yah. Word of advice, you should’ve checked if the rest have eaten that before you ate all of it.” Areum advised, giving him a cold smile before walking to the shelves that contain baskets of protection gear. Once the black haired girl moved toward the shelves, the rest of the group of friends also followed her lead.

“That asshole.” Areum heard Mijin cursed as the short haired senior pointed her finger at the plump boy.

“Joonyeong-ah, you put the best protection gear.” Daesu said with guilt as he tried to comfort his friend.

However, his effort in comforting someone after his mistake was being ignored by Joonyeong as the smart boy moved away from the plump boy, trying to contain his anger from being let out.

When Suhyeok saw Areum trying to get the baskets out of the shelves, the tall boy quickly went in her direction and carried some of the baskets into the open space in the middle of the room.

With the last basket from the shelves, Areum sent a small smile in gratitude to Suhyeok before he took the yellow basket from her hands. Each of the students then picked their selected protective gears from the baskets and wore the protective pads on the shoulders, elbows and knees.

Grabbing the protective pads for her elbows and knees, Areum went to the corner of the room and sat on the floor in order to wear them. The black haired girl distanced herself from the group of friends as she felt quite uncomfortable being near them after yesterday’s incident.

Just as the beauty finished placing the protective pad on both of her knees, a tall shadow loomed in front of her, making the beauty lift her gaze to see Suhyeok was standing in front of her. He had just finished putting the protective gear on himself when he noticed the beauty was sitting far in the corner of the room.

Areum watched as Suhyeok crouched in front of her and gently took the black protective gear from her hand. She continued to watch as Suhyeok quietly helped her slide the padded gears on her elbows.

“I know why you distance yourself from the group, Rumnie-yah. But I knew deep inside, you’re really strong. Don’t be too hard on yourself. It hurts me looking at you like this.” Suhyeok softly muttered about yesterday's incident as he fixed her elbow padding before shifting his eyes to look at her brown eyes.

“But I tried to eat you twi-” Areum tried to reason but Suhyeok quickly shushed her.

“That’s in the past now.” The tall boy mentioned with a small smile as he cupped her left jaw.

Early in the morning, Suhyeok woke up with Areum’s head across his chest. The tall boy felt relieved when he saw the  redness and black veins on her left cheek, jaw and neck from last night had completely disappeared out of sight. The only remaining visible on her face was the split lips from her fighted with the school’s bully.

“If you have the urge to eat someone, just tell me. I’ll try my best to stop you from eating someone. I’ll promise.” He continued as he spotted Areum’s eyes rapidly blinking as she tried to stop her tears from coming off her brown eyes.

“Okay.” The beauty responded.

“But, promise me to not let me bite you, hm? You tend to worry about me.” Areum gently said as she locked eyes with his black eyes. Then, out of nowhere, she lifted her pinky finger for him to seal off their deal.

“I promise.” Suhyeok promised, wrapping his pinky finger around hers, making the black haired girl smile with relief.

Areum surprised the tall boy when she pulled him closer to her by his tie, making the boy’s black eyes widen in shock with her bold action. The beauty silently laughed when she saw his surprised expression before pecking a kiss on his lips.

Feeling a soft peck on his lips from the beauty in front of him, Suhyeok instantly beamed in delight. The tall boy could see the changed flicker of her brown eyes to relief.

“That’s the Areum I know. The only difference this time, we’ve confessed our feelings.” Suhyeok chuckled in a teasing manner, trying to hint at the beauty of the idea of them dating in an unsuspicious way.

“Are you suggesting we’re currently dating each other?” Areum suspected as she coldly narrowed her eyes at the tall boy.

“Maybe, maybe not.” The tall boy uttered with a smirk.

“No, we’re not dating.” Areum sternly said as she tried so hard to keep a serious expression on her face.

“Wh…what?” Suhyeok stammered, blinked his black eyes in disbelief.

“I clearly remembered that yesterday, you’re going to plan our first date after we get out of this place.” The black haired girl stated as she silently giggled at his dazed look, failing to keep a serious expression.

“Until the day we’re going out for our first date, we’re not officially dating each other, Lee Suhyeok. I'd like to keep things in a traditional way.” The black haired girl smirked.

“Ah, right. About that.” Suhyeok suddenly remembered the promise he made yesterday to the girl he had feelings for. Then, the tall boy chuckled in amusement after hearing her babbled earlier.

“Then, I guess you would agree to be my girlfriend after our first date.” He added as he traced her left jaw.

“Maybe, maybe not.” Areum smiled with a tease, repeating the tall boy’s words from earlier. The only acknowledgement that Suhyeok gave was the shake of his head in amusement with her mischievous action.

“Ah.” The girl suddenly remembered as she faced Suhyeok.

“Do you still have my hair ties in your blazer’s pockets?” She asked with hope.

“I think so. Let me check.” Suhyeok replied before he checked one of his blazer pocket that usually contain with Areum’s band aid and hair ties.

When his finger brushed against her hair ties, Suhyeok quickly fished them out in his hand. With the black hair ties on his hand, Suhyeok lifted his fingers away from his palm and let Areum get the hair tie from his palm.

“Thanks.” Areum said as she took one of the black ties from Suhyeok’s hand.

While putting the rest of the hair ties back in the blazer pocket, Suhyeok watched as Areum gathered all of her long black hair in a high ponytail with some strands of hair left on the side of her face. The girl then gracefully tied her hair with the black hair tie that she got from Suhyeok.

Through the corner of his eyes, he spotted that the group of students had finished wearing the protective pads and making sure the attached carts remained connected before glancing back at Areum, who just finished tying her hair. Then, Suhyeok stood up from the floor and extended his right hand to help Areum stand up.

“Stay close, okay? And be careful.” Suhyeok uttered once the beauty stood up and placed her loose hair on her right ear before placing a kiss on top of her hair. The beauty nodded her head.

“You too. Stay safe.” The black haired girl muttered, in which the tall boy nodded his head as an acknowledgement.

The two of them joined the rest of the students’ bodies and helped them in making sure the metal racks and carts were perfectly connected.

“Is everyone ready?” Joonyeong asked, turning to face the group after taking a few deep breaths. “I’m going to open the door.” He announced.

“Hold on.” Daesu uttered as he fixed the protective pads on both of his elbows before lifting his eyes to look over at the intelligent boy.

“It’ll work out, right?” The plump boy asked, not entirely sure of the outcome once they went out of this small room.

Joonyeong nodded his head with confidence and muttered. “It’ll work.”

“Noona. Don’t do anything stupid. You tend to do something before thinking wisely.” Wujin warned with a teasing smile on his face.

“Yah, I’m the one who’s supposed to say that. Not you. So, be careful, Wujin-ah.” Hari mentioned as she rolled her eyes at her younger brother. Then the eldest Jang averted her eyes to her cousin whilst Wujin whispered something to Namra.

“Areum-ah. Stay safe, okay? We’ll be out of here in no time.” Hari smiled, comforting the younger cousin, in which Areum was grateful for having Hari as her eldest cousin, who the beauty always saw as her own sister.

“You too, Unnie. Thank you for everything. I hope we can see our grandparents after all of this.” The beauty muttered as Hari held her hand as a comfort.

Hearing a clunking metal of the baseball bat, the black haired then shifted her brown eyes and looked at the source of the sound, only to see Suhyeok grab the baseball bat from the cart and gave one of the bats to Cheongsan as a weapon of defense.

“I’m going to take the lead. You take the back.” Suhyeok spoke as Cheongsan nodded his head in understanding. After talking with his close friend, the tall boy went to Joonyeong’s side, giving the boy a silent nod, signalling that it was time to leave the small storage room.

“I’ll open the door now.” Joonyeong once again announced as he looked over the group of students.

The smart boy watched Mijin close her eyes as she released a deep sigh, Hari was ready with her bow and arrow in her hands whilst the rest of his friends were mentally prepared themselves to push the metal racks and carts once the double doors were open.

“Ah, fuck. I hope you’re right.” Mijin uttered as she looked at Joonyeong with concern.

“I’ve seen countless zombies.” He stated as he turned his whole body to face the double door.

“They don’t have the intelligence to climb over.” He continued before placing his hand on one of the door knobs while Suhyeok followed his action by placing his hand on another door knob. Signalling with his head to the tall boy beside him, the two boys quickly burst open the double door and led their group of friends out of the small room to the auditorium filled with zombies.

While the group of friends were trying to pull the metal carts out of the room, Suhyeok and Hari stopped any zombies that were coming their way. Once the coast was clear, they quickly rushed to help their friends forming a circular-shaped shield from the zombies.

“Turn!” Suhyeok yelled as he grabbed onto the metal rack. The group of students immediately followed his instructions and started to form a circular barrier around them.

“Get in! Get in!” Joonyeong shouted, instructing all of his friends to get inside the circular barrier.

Kicking the male zombie that was near Daesu, Suhyeok quickly went to help the plump boy close the end of the barrier before securing them by tying the carts together. The tall boy in the process had dropped the metal bat on the floor, which grabbed Areum’s attention. The beauty quickly picked the bat before hitting the nearby zombies that were trying to reach them.

“Did you tie it?” Daesu frantically asked as both Suhyeok and Joonyeong tied the piece of cloth that they had put earlier.

“Done! Push!” The tall boy shouted over the loud snarling and growling sound from the zombies.

The group of young students began to push the carts across the auditorium floor. They had let out a grunt when their connected carts did not move an inch as the zombies kept coming their way, which made it harder for them to push the carts forward.

“They’re climbing over.” Mijin loudly announced when she saw several zombies trying to climb over their make-shift carts.

“It won’t fucking budge!” Daesu shouted. Seeing his friends were frantic about their current situation with all of the zombies on every side of the outside circular barrier, Joonyeong yelled over the loud sound.

“Push harder!” The smart boy encouraged his friends. “We can do this!”

Spotting the zombie trying to reach Hyeryeong and Onjo, Areum immediately left her position and went to help the two girls. The black haired girl quickly hit the zombie away using the metal bat before she shoved the zombie to the floor.

Suhyeok was busily trying to find his fallen bat on the floor until he heard the sound of a bat hitting a zombie. Quickly turning his body to look at whoever had the baseball bat, the tall boy instantly watched Areum was hitting and shoving the zombies that tried to reach over Hyeryeong and Onjo.

“Rumnie-yah! Give me that!” Suhyeok yelled as he eyed the baseball bat on her hands.

Following where his eyes were lingering at, Areum quickly gave the metal bat to the boy before resuming what she was doing before helping her friends. The tall boy then proceed to shove the zombies off their makeshift carts.

The group of students were desperately trying their best to push the zombies away. Different types of methods were used by the young students in order to shove the zombies away. Both Suhyeok and Cheongsan were shoving the zombies off the circular barrier using their baseball bats.

Hari was shooting the zombies away using her bow with the remaining arrows. Wujin grabbed the cushion pad to push the zombies off the carts, Mijin stabbed the zombies using her sharp spear and Joonyeong used the volleyball to send the zombies away from the circular barrier.

Then, out of nowhere, Hyeryeong let out a scream when a zombie grabbed her short hair. When Areum found Hyeryeong was being grabbed by the zombie, the beauty quickly helped the short haired girl by picking up the metal pole on the cart in front of her and started hitting and shoving the zombie from the short haired girl.

Once she managed to release the zombie grasping off Hyeryeong’s hair, Areum overheard Onjo scream in surprise. The beauty instantly turned to look over at the white hoodie girl was on her floor and a bloody hand from the small gap between the carts had clasped around Onjo’s leg.

Before the black haired girl managed to help her, Namra quickly went to aid and forcefully removed the bloody hand off Onjo’s leg. Both Areum and Hyeryeong then helped Onjo stand up from the hard floor.

“What are you doing? Push!” Joonyeong yelled at the four female students that were just standing there. The four female students quickly pushed the metal carts as hard as they could. Then, the clinking sound could be heard once they managed to push the carts slightly forward.

***********

Still remaining in the same position for a couple of minutes, the group of students struggled to push the circular barrier forward with the increasing number of zombies blocking their way to move toward the exit door.

“Suhyeok! Above you!” Cheongsan warned after noticed one of the zombies tried to grab the tall boy over the tall barricade.

“Damn it!” Suhyeok cursed before roughly shoving the zombie using the baseball bat on his hand.

Through the corner of her eyes, Areum spotted Mijin was being grabbed by a female zombie, making the senior girl scream frantically. Not only the beauty saw the frantic scene, Joonyeong was also noticed the senior girl was being snatched by the zombie, causing the smart boy to jump into action and ran over to help the helpless senior girl. Areum’s brown eyes become widen when she saw Joonyeong pushed the zombie’s head, which made the zombie released its tight gripped off the senior girl.

The class vice president quickly rushed to Joonyeong when he pushed the zombie’s head further until it managed to turn its own head a little. The black haired girl managed to push Joonyeong’s hand away in the last minutes before it managed to bite onto her left hand.

Areum let out a scream due to the sting sensation from  the bite. Seeing the zombie had quickly released the bite on Areum’s left hand, Mijin instantly grabbed her spear and shoved it right through the zombie’s neck. With an instant, the female zombie fell off the joint cart.

“Hey, are you okay?” Mijin asked as the short haired senior stood beside Areum in worry.

“Areum-ah, are you okay?” Joonyeong questioned when he did not hear any response from the girl after Mijin asked her state, which also grabbed the attention of the rest of the students’ bodies.

Overhearing the name of the girl he had feelings for, Suhyeok instantly shifted his attention and spotted Areum was completely frozen. Then, the tall boy searched for any injury that caused her to freeze until his black eyes spotted the fresh bite mark on her left hand.

Suhyeok instantly held his breath when he spotted the fresh bite on her left bloody hand. His heart dropped a beat when the thought of the girl he likes turned into a zombie occurred in his mind.

The only reason why Areum did not reply to any of them was because of the very loud sounds in her ears and the red blurry vision in her eyes. The black haired girl rapidly blinked her eyes in order to make the red vision on her eyes disappear.

However, after several unsuccessful attempts of blinking away the red vision from her eyes, Areum finally moved around to see all of her friends were struggling to move the carts with the zombies lingering around the circular barrier.

“Areum-ah. I’m sorry. Because of me, you’ve got bitten. I should’ve been more careful.” Joonyeong apologised when he saw the black haired girl had prevented him from being bitten by the zombie.

Not completely hearing what Joonyeong had said due to the loud noises in her ears, Areum turned her head to look at Suhyeok. Once Suhyeok’s black eyes met her brown eyes, his heart dropped instantly when he saw the red and black veins reappear on her left cheek, jaw and neck. The tall boy did not want to believe what just happened to the girl he likes, not wanting to believe the possibility that Areum might turn into one of the flesh eating monsters.

“I’m sorry.” Areum mouthed the words to Suhyeok before giving him a last soft smile.

“No! Don't.” Suhyeok loudly whispered while holding his tears in his eyes as he instantly shook his head in disagreement when he fully knew what the beauty was about to do.

Without wasting any time and precious life of her friends, Areum turned away from Suhyeok and quickly climbed over the barrier, which led the rest of the students to scream in protest while some of them tried to stop the beauty from going outside of the makeshift shield.

“Rumnie-yah!”

“Areum-ah!”

“Yah!”

“Son Areum!” Suhyeok, Namra, Wujin and Hari yelled her name when they saw the class vice president manage to climb over past the zombies that were hoarding the connected carts.

Suhyeok tried to get the girl to safety by following her and climbing over the barrier, however he stopped his action when he heard Areum’s shouted from outside of the protective shield.

“Just…Just stay there! Let me be sure if I’m…I’m going to be turned or not! Please!” Areum breathed heavily whilst cowered on the floor in fear.

Unknown to her, when she yelled to stop Suhyeok from coming for her, the zombies shifted their attention to the beauty on the floor and loudly snarled at her direction but they did not attack her.

The only person who noticed this weird incident was Namra, who frowned her eyebrows in confusion. The beauty then tried to control her heavy breath as she discreetly bit on her left wrist. The black haired girl was also mentally counting the numbers on her mind while waiting for something to happen to her.

“Rumnie-yah.” Suhyeok whispered under his breath in devastation upon seeing the beauty biting onto her left wrist to stop her heavy breaths.

After a couple of minutes, the rest of the students anxiously watched Areum on the floor outside of the safety barrier, hoping the black haired girl was still immune after getting a bite from a zombie.

Once she managed to control her breathing, Areum could feel nothing strange changed to her, both physically and mentally. Then, the beauty slowly lifted her head and finally noticed the zombies did not once try to attack her, instead the zombies were still hoarding the circular barrier and tried to reach over at her friends. The black haired girl slowly stood up from the floor with confusion as she tried to process what she currently experienced.

‘Why did the zombies not attack me?' She thought to herself. Then, she suddenly remembered Jimin’s outburst statement when the group of friends found the bite marks on both Areum and Namra. ‘Is it because of the zombie blood on our veins?’

“Yah, Rumnie-yah.” Suhyeok yelled, trying to grab the black haired girl’s attention.

“You’re okay. You’re not going to turn. There’s no bleeding on your nose. Just…Just come back here.” The tall boy mentioned, hoping the beauty would listen to him for once.

However, Areum completely ignored his request as the black haired girl grabbed the back shirt of the zombies and pulled them away from huddling around the carts.

“Yah! What are you doing?” Wujin asked when he watched his cousin pull the zombies away from their carts.

“Get in here!” He yelled.

“Not yet! Not until I pull these zombies off the carts, so you guys can move the carts forward to the exit door!” Areum shouted when the class vice president noticed every pair of eyes were looking at her action.

All of the students watched as the beauty tore the zombies away from the metal carts, so they were able to push the connected carts forward.

“Push!” She ordered after she managed to pull a few of the zombies away from their makeshift shield.

Whilst Areum took out some of the zombies’ hold on the carts, the rest of the students were finally able to reach the exit door of the auditorium.

“Untie it!” Suhyeok yelled as he shoved away some of the zombies that huddled around the end of the circular barrier.

After pulling and tearing out of the zombie hold of the metal racks, Areum spotted a zombie through the corner of her eyes trying to reach Suhyeok. The black haired girl quickly rushed over and roughly pulled the zombie away, resulting in the zombie to fall on the floor brutally.

“Yah, Lee Suhyeok! Be careful. That zombie was about to reach you.” Areum frantically shouted over the loud snarling and growling sound.

Before the tall boy could utter any words, Daesu had announced to the rest of the students that he had finished untying the cloth that connected the circular barrier.

“Rumnie-yah, you should get in here, now!” Suhyeok yelled when Daesu managed to open the tied knot.

Exhausted with pulling the zombies away from their makeshift barrier, Areum instantly rushed inside the safety net before pulling the connected carts to the wall in order to close the open gap from the aggressive zombie. The beauty then went to help Hyeryeong and Namra.

“It won’t open!” The black hair girl heard Suhyeok loudly mention it after the tall boy struggled to open the exit door.

Onjo instantly went to help the boy open the door but her effort was unavail as the door was being locked from the outside. A string of curses could be heard from the different students when they had faced one more problem before they were able to get out of the auditorium full of zombies.

“What do you mean?” Cheongsan loudly questioned, looking at his close friend while keeping the female zombie out of his reach using the metal bat.

“The door won’t open!” Onjo repeated once again with panic laced on her voice.

“Move back!” The tall boy instructed before he tried to hit the door knobs with the baseball bat.

While waiting for the exit door to open, all of the students struggled to keep the zombies away from reaching them. The eldest Jang stabbed the zombies’ neck using her last remaining arrows, Wujin pushed the zombies using the protective cushion while Cheongsan kept hitting the zombies with the baseball bat.

On the other side of the circular barrier, Mijin hysterically smacked the zombies’ heads with the spear she made on top of the metal carts. Upon seeing her hysterically friend on top of the cart and near the dangerous zombie, Hari quickly pulled her friend down the cart. Daesu and Joonyeong pushed the zombies from the barrier whilst Areum, Namra and Hyeryeong threw the volleyball at the zombies’ direction.

Having enough of it, Daesu angrily pushed one of the carts forward with the zombies hoarding in front of it. Then, Joonyeong and Daesu pulled the connected carts to the auditorium wall in order to close the gap before the zombies were able to come inside.

However, due to his action, the tied rope on one of the carts near Areum and Namra were broken, causing the two intelligent duo to rush over and pull them together before the zombies got the chance to enter the safety net.

The two female students then observed what was in front of them. The zombies in front of them were not looking at them, instead they focused on something behind them.

Witnessing this strange behaviour, the two close friends shared a look with each other as they were unable to process what they just saw.

“Hurry up!” Hyeryeong loudly urged after waiting for Suhyeok and Onjo to open the door. The short haired girl was exhausted after trying to keep the zombies from reaching them.

“It won’t open. It must be locked from the outside.” Suhyeok mentioned as he glanced over at his friends.

Then, the tall boy spotted both Areum and Namra were trying their best to hold the carts together with the zombies’ hands outstretched on top of their heads. Seeing the exhausted look from the beauty earlier, Suhyeok let out a string of curses before he rushed over the two close friends and helped them holding the carts together.

Not giving up trying to open the door, Onjo slammed her body against the door, producing  thumping sounds in the process. Seeing the door remain unlocked, the white hoodie girl moved in a distance from the door before slamming her whole body against the door. The girl kept repeating this action until suddenly the door burst open by a middle-aged man, who looked shocked upon seeing their presence.

“Dad.” Onjo uttered after seeing her father opening the door before embracing him in a hug with relief.
