Hospital Visit

A/N: Okay, let me just say that I hate writing in Match's point of view. I really don't like typing "like" every 5 words or so. So, I'm not gonna do that because that just makes the writing process slower. But I will type "like" when she's speaking. You can just imagine how she would say this. So, uh, enjoy!

Match's POV:
Okay, so Plan A failed. Probably should've looked at who was exactly in the car first. Ugh, I hate life. It never works out right. I gotta figure out a foolproof plan! It must work. I can't let Leafy have the role of Juliet! I was sitting on my couch, Pencil sitting on one of my other couches. She looked up at me and asked, "Match, are you still thinking about getting revenge?" "I course I am! I totally, like, have to!" I responded. Pencil just shook her head and started to draw something. She's a good artist, and she likes this guy named Pen, but she's way too scared to admit her feelings to him. "Match, I really think you should think this over more! It's not right. Revenge isn't the way," Pencil tried to reason with me. "Pence Pence, I, like, have to do this! At least I have the, like, courage to do this! Unlike you, who can't, like, even say a word to, like, Pen without worrying!" I shot at her. She gasped angrily at me. "I can't believe you would say something like that to your own best friend!" she yelled. "What must be done, like, must be done," I said. "How could you be so heartless?!" she asked me. "She stole my, like, part in the play! I'm your, like, best friend! You should be, like, supporting me!" I yelled back. "I was supporting you, Match. I was hoping you'd get the part, I felt bad for you when you didn't, I was there for your audition. I was with you the whole time! But trying to hurt Leafy? That's just crossing the line. It's cruel, heartless, and selfish. I knew you were angry, and I tried to help you, but I can't believe you'd actually take it this far," Pencil said. "You're not being a, like, good friend to me, like, right now," I spoke angrily. Then she shot me with words that really hurt me, "Right now, Leafy seems to be a better person than you are." I looked at her, a look of shock on my face. She quietly got up, and left my house without saying anything else. I just sat there, stunned. She did not just do that to me...

Leafy's POV:
I'm sitting in my room, thinking about my brother. I'm still sad, but at least I wasn't crying anymore. Firey really helped me. "Leafy, dear?" I heard my mom call. "Yes?" I asked. My mom opened my door and said, "You're father called again. He said that we could come visit Oak." I smiled and got off of my bed. "Okay, that's great! How's he doing?" I asked. "They're still not sure if he'll be okay or not, but either way, they figured that we'd want to see him," she answered. "Okay, I'll be right down," I said. My mom went downstairs. I heard my phone beep, and saw that I had a text from Firey, "How're you doing?" it said. "I'm feeling a bit better. I'm going to the hospital to visit him," I texted back with a smile emoji. "Great, hope he gets better," he sent to me. Then I thought of an idea. "Hey Mom?" I called down the stairs. "Yes dear?" she asked. "Could Firey come with us?" I asked. "Sure, if his parents are fine with it, I am," she answered. I texted Firey, "Hey, if your parents are okay with it, you could come visit with me." I waited a few minutes and got a reply, "My parents said it was fine. Be at your house in about five minutes?" "Okay, see you soon!" I sent. He sent a smile emoji. I went downstairs to wait for him.

Firey's POV:
Once I got to Leafy's house, I rang the doorbell. The door opened and Leafy was standing there. "Hi Firey," she said. "Hi Leafy," I said back. Leafy's mother then appeared at the door and we all walked to the car (Leafy's mother's car). Mrs. Evergreen got in the driver's seat while Leafy went in the passenger's seat. I got in the seat behind the passenger's seat. Mrs. Evergreen started driving the car in the direction of the hospital. "I have to go to the gas station first," she told us. Once we got there, Mrs. Evergreen got out of the car. To my surprise, Leafy got out too. Was I supposed to get out too? I asked myself. But then Leafy got back in the car except that she came to the back. I gave her a confused look. "I wanted to sit with my best friend!" she said cheerfully. Wait, why was she acting so cheerful? I mean, she's normally happy but she hasn't been for most of today. I decided to ignore that fact. I then noticed that Leafy had moved closer to me. In fact, she was literally right next to me. No space in between us. And then she rested her head on my shoulder. I blushed slightly and looked at her face. She suddenly turned her head so that it was directly facing me. "Firey?" she asked. "Hmm?" I responded. "I-I really like you," she said. "Well I know that, we're best friends," I replied. "No, I mean I really like you. I'm in l-love with you," she said. I just stared at her, surprised at what I had just heard. "Y-you do?" I asked. She nodded her head. "W-well, I l-like you too," I said. She put her arms around my neck and leaned in even closer to me. I moved my head lower so our lips got closer. Our lips were about a centimeter apart. "Firey?" I heard a voice. "Firey? Firey!" I heard the voice again. "Firey, wake up!" My eyes opened quickly. I looked around saw Leafy, still in the passenger's seat. Apparently she had woken me up. Wait, that was all a dream?! "Hey Sleepyhead, we're here," she said with a smile. I got up out of the car and closed the door. I mentally sighed but smiled at Leafy. We walked into the hospital and Mrs. Evergreen asked the person at the counter where Oak's room was. "Room 140," she answered. "Thank you," Mrs. Evergreen said. We all walked to Room 140. Leafy walked in first, then I did, followed by Mrs. Evergreen. "Hi Dad," Leafy said to her father. "Hey Leafy," he said back. "Hello Firey." "Hello Mr. Evergreen," I responded. "Hi dear," Mrs. Evergreen said. "Hi," he responded.

Leafy's POV:
"So, how's Oak doing?" I asked my dad. "I'm actually doing okay right now," I heard a voice say. I turned my head to see Oak laying on the hospital bed, awake. "Oak!" I exclaimed as I rushed to hug him. "Ow, sis, you're crushing me," he said. "Sorry," I apologized. "I'm just glad you're okay," I continued. "Hate to break it to you, but the doctor said I only have a week to live," he told me. My eyes widened. "W-what?!" I exclaimed. "Relax, I'm kidding," he said with a chuckle. "Don't scare me like that," I said, annoyed. "I'm starving. I could use some food right now," Oak said, looking at me. I sighed. "Fine, I'll go to the cafeteria to find something for you," I said reluctantly. I walked out of the room. A few seconds later, I came back in. "Uh, where's the cafeteria?" I asked. "I'll show you where it is," my dad said. "I need to go use the ladies' room. I'll be right back," my mom said. "Firey, you fine with staying here?" I asked Firey. "Uh, yeah! Of course," he responded. The three of us walked out of the room, leaving Oak and Firey in the room.

Firey's POV:
I started to think about my dream again. I was wondering what caused me to dream that. I've liked Leafy for a long time and I've dreamed about her before, but nothing like this. I sighed. "Dude, something wrong?" Oak asked me. "Just, I got a lot on my mind," I answered. "Spill. I won't tell. Promise," he said smiling. Telling Leafy's brother about my dream about Leafy? I really don't know if that's a good idea or not. I decided to try to explain the dream, but not say any names. "Well, I had this dream on the way here," I started. "Oh! I took a dream interpreting class when I was in high school. Maybe I could help?" he said. I nodded as I continued. After I told him the dream, he said, "Well, obviously you like this girl," he began. "Have you had dreams like this before?" he asked. "Not really," I answered. "Well, I'm guessing something happened that's caused you to fall even more deeply in love with her. Also, you seem to be worried that something will happen to cause her to not want to be around you," he said. Wow, that was interesting. It must have had something to do with the play and me comforting her. "Oh I see. Thanks," I said. "No problem," he responded. Just then, Leafy and her parents came back with food. "Yes! Food!" Oak exclaimed while taking the food from Leafy. "Yes, you're welcome," Leafy said. "Oh, thanks Leafy," he said. She just shook her head and sat down with a salad. She looked at me and said, "I got you a pizza in case you were hungry." She held it out to me. "Thanks Leafy," I said while taking the pizza. "You're welcome," she responded. I ate the pizza while Leafy ate her salad. We stayed at the hospital until visiting hours were over. We then said goodbye to Oak and left the hospital. I sat down in the back while Leafy was once again in the passenger's seat. I took out my phone to make sure I stayed awake this time. I didn't want to risk my secret by possibly talking in my sleep. People have told me that I do that sometimes. Once we got to my house, I got out of the car. Leafy got out too to walk with me. "Leafy?" I asked. "Yeah?" she responded. "When I was asleep, was I talking?" I asked, anxious to hear the answer. She said, "No, you were silent. I didn't even know you were sleeping until we got to the hospital." I mentally sighed in relief. "Oh okay," I said. We got to my door. "See you later Leafy," I said. "Bye Firey," she responded. She waved and then walked back to her car. I watched the car leave and then went into my house. "Ooh, Firey's got a girlfriend!" I heard a voice say. I turned around to see my younger sister, Ashley. "No I don't," I said. "Well, you two should totally go out. Leafy's awesome," she said. "Ash, I know. But we're best friends. Nothing more," I said with a small sigh. Ash looked at me with a confused look. "Why don't you just ask her out?" she asked. "Ash, it's not that simple, especially with Leafy. If I ask out Leafy and she doesn't like me that way, it could ruin our friendship. I don't want that to happen," I explained. She nodded like she understood. "Still, I would take the chance," she said. I facepalmed and shook my head. "Ashley, you've got so much to learn in life," I said while walking upstairs to my room. I laid down on my bed and sighed. I looked around on my walls, seeing pictures on them. Pictures of me and my friends. There was one with TB, Gelatin, Coiny, and I at the ice cream parlor. Another was with me and Coiny at his house. I was sleeping over at his house when it was taken. I had a few other random pictures, but my favorite one was right next to my bed. It was when we were at our eighth grade graduation. A picture of just the two of us. I sighed as I looked at the picture. If only you knew how I feel about you, Leafy. I thought to myself. If only you knew.
