chapter XIX, epilogue.

2 YEARS LATER...

time for the couple really felt like it flew by in the blink of an eye once yeosang was no longer human. two years since they had met, and they were still going strongβ€” maybe even stronger than ever. with everyday that passed it seemed like the pair got closer, they themselves didn't understand how that could be possible.

yeosang was surprisingly a really fast learner. he nearly mastered most of the skills that took other vampires many years to perfect in under two years, with an exception of a few incredibly difficult ones. it definitely made it a lot easier for him that he had a very experienced vampire beside him throughout the whole journey.

while yeosang was learning to get used to his new lifestyle, seonghwa continued to sort out the mountain's problems on the side. he had officially made it so one of his cousins who would gladly accept the throne could have his reign. he was more than excited when his cousin accepted his offerβ€” telling him that he'd repay him in any way he wanted.

now, yeosang and seonghwa were sat outside on their patio stargazing, at around 11pm. after yeosang finished up with college virtually, the couple moved from the snug apartment into their own cozy townhouse. both of them absolutely adored their new home, but they couldn't help but reminisce about the life changing memories that they made in the flat.

yeosang yawned as he laid his head on his boyfriend's shoulder. he still had the tendencies of a human at times, which was not surprising to any of them in the slightest.

"are you tired?" seonghwa asked concernedly.

"mhm," yeosang muttered back. seonghwa slid his arm around the younger's waist and began rubbing soothing circles.

"you know what i miss?" yeosang started again.

"what do you miss, love?"

"i miss being able to feel the warm sun on my skin... i really took it for granted." he pouted.

seonghwa frowned. he had never been able to feel the sun since he was a pure blood, but he sympathized with his lover.

"i apologize." he apologized lowly.

"for what?"

"if it was not for meβ€” you would still be able to sun bathe, or even do other activities that were once normal to you..." his frown grew deeper. at times he always remembered what he did to yeosang, feeling extremely guilty.

"hey, no. don't be that way, okay?" the younger interrupted as he cupped the older's face and caressed it lovingly. "because of you, at least i am still even able to think about to sun... you saved my life. human or not." he finished his reassuring speech by placing a kiss on seonghwa's lips.

yeosang never wanted seonghwa to feel guilty for something he consented to. but it was bound to happen, ever since the older vampire came into his life everything changed. sometimes, not for the bestβ€” but when he was with seonghwa none of that felt like it mattered.

"thank you," the older
muttered, still hovering over his boyfriend's lips.

the couple fell into a comfortable silence as they looked back up to the dark night sky filled with gleaming stars.

"i wonder what wooyoung and san are doing right now?"

"who knows?" seonghwa chuckled.

the two of them took a while to get
together, both of them playing a intense game of hard-to-get along the way. every time the friends would see the pair, it seemed as if they were arguing about the most pointless things they could find to debate about. it wasn't until yeosang barged into wooyoung's apartment, with his spare key, to see see the boys angrily making out in his living room. it took them nearly a year to become official.

wooyoung had been begging san to turn him into a vampire recently, so that he could be alive just as long as the rest of them. san never agreed, telling wooyoung to think on it for a little longerβ€” he did not want to be responsible for a life changing decision that wooyoung might regret.

another quiet yawn came from the boy's mouth, signaling that it was time go back inside.

before the men could even stand up, they heard a faint voice calling them.

"papa! dada! look! i think i can fly!" the small girl called. seonghwa quickly turned to look at his partner,

"i thought you told me she was asleep?"

"she was!" yeosang explained.

minjae was the 3 year old adopted daughter of seonghwa and yeosang. one night, while they were walking around the neighborhood, they spotted a big box behind the building of god knows what. they discovered that there was a half-blooded, 2 year old vampire placed in the box. it was assumed that she had a similar backstory to san'sβ€” just a bit harsher. the couple didn't really know what to do with her so they kept her in their house for a few weeks.

they made the decision to send her to an orphanage, since it was so early on in their relationship, and yeosang stated that he wasn't ready for children. however, when he came time to hand her over, none of them wanted to say goodbye. the couple had became attached to the small girl just as quickly as they had became attached to one another.

"okay minnie, how about we go to the room and you can show us, hm?" yeosang questioned gently as he picked up their daughter and waltzed into her bedroom, seonghwa admired the two the whole time.

the couple sat down on the small child's bed and let minjae stand on the edge.

"look, dada and papa, i can really fly!" she claimed again before taking a big leap off the small bed. she landed perfectly on her feet.

the two just chuckled at the girl's adorableness, obviously knowing she hadn't mastered the art of flying yet.

"woah!" seonghwa pretended to act shocked. "minjae, you've seemingly mastered flying faster than your dada did!" he teased yeosang. it had took him over a year to make a steady flight.

the younger pouted as he watched his family laugh at him. he then picked minjae up again and placed her into the bed, kissing her forehead lightly.

"time for bed minne. really this time." the girl just nodded in response, not even having the energy to argue anymore.

after they settled her down seonghwa led the younger into their room and they both comfortably cuddled up under the warm, thick sheets.

before they slipped into slumber, yeosang muttered something in his lover's ear;

"you know, i'm glad you two are the ones i'm spending the rest of eternity with."

seonghwa kept his eyes closed, but he did not fail to let a happy grin spread across his face, while pulling yeosang closer into his chest.

"i love you, darling." he whispered adoringly.

"i love you too, forever."
