7.

Finally everything turned back to normal, if you count being a predator of the night. Derek's surprise calls lessened and Sam finally got a good night sleep. Scott had started to talk to her again, although he still looked angry. And for Stiles, he acted like nothing happened, although he kept asking Sam questions about; Derek, being a werewolf and the alpha.

Sam smiled as her back hit the pillow's of her bed. Half an hour break before she had to go to the clinic for her shift. Deaton had forgiven her absence after she told him how sick she had been.

The door of her room opened and Sam looked up from her history book. Stiles's goofy face appeared in the doorway.

"Hey"

"Hey, how was Lydia" Stiles stepped inside, frowning.

"How do you know?" Sam smirked, placing her book away.

"I can smell her perfume on you" Stiles huffed.

"That's just creepy." Sam laughed. Stiles sat down on her bed.

"What are you doing here?"

"I just wanted to make sure you were oke"

"I'm great"

"Good"

"Yeah"

...

"I think I've found something" Stiles spoke, finally getting to the point. Sam nodded.

"And what did you find?" Stiles then jumped into a detailed story about the alpha in a store.

"So you're telling me, Jackson and Lydia are in danger?"

"Yes! No.. I don't know" Sam's eyes found the clock behind Stiles and sighed.

"I need to go to Deaton." Stiles watched her stand up and pull on her shoes. "Maybe he knows something" Stiles nodded.

"You ask him, I'll call Scott, again" Sam nodded, send Stiles a smile and left.

-

"Do you know where your brother is? He should have been here half an hour ago?" Sam shrugged, taking off her gloves.

"I don't know. Sorry Deaton" Deaton sighed. "But I really need to leave or I'll miss the parent/teacher conference." Deaton nodded.

"If you see your brother-"

"I'll kick his ass" Deaton smiled.

"Thank you"

"See you tomorrow" Sam waved and walked out the door. In reality she had more than an hour left before the conference would begin. She just wanted to check on Derek. He hadn't contacted her all day and to be honest, that frightened her.

-

" -And all you have to do is tell us who he is, and we'll take care of it for you. Problem solved, everybody goes home happy. Unless - You don't know who he is either. Guess who just became totally useless?" Kate smirked, grabbing her gun when something slammed against her, throwing her to the ground. She grunted, opening her eyes to see another werewolf on top of her, growling. She laughed.

"I thought I killed you already" She tried to slam her stick into the wolf but found that she had dropped it. The werewolf grabbed her by her neck and threw her trough the wall. Kate flinched as she hit the hard floor. When she stood up she found both of the werewolf's gone.

"What were you doing?" Derek barked, as he and Sam made it to a safe distance.

"I smelled the hunters and I thought you needed help."

"Well I didn't"

"Yes, you did. We are stronger by numbers remember." Derek turned around, facing her. He fell silent. Sam nodded, knowing she made her point. "Who was she anyway?"

"An old friend"

"Is she an Argent?"

"Yes" Sam groaned, running a hand trough her hair. She turned back to Derek. "There is more isn't there. You guys have history" Derek started walking again Sam followed him.

"Don't you have an conference to go to?" Sam rolled her eyes.

"Yes, but don't think were done talking." Derek walked off, a smirk present on his face. Sam sighed, watching him go. She finally turned around, heading the other way. After half a mile, she finally neared the city edge. She could have run but she had decided to just relax.

Suddenly she heard she sound of glass shatter, followed by the stench of alcohol. Trusting her instincts, she followed the noise to see Jackson, looking half drunk and very pissed.

"Jackson?" He turned to her, so fast it would have given him a whiplash. He rolled his eyes.

"What are you doing here, McCall?" He lifted his lacrosse stick and fired another ball, missing by a lot.

"I was about to ask you the same question." She moved closed, being careful to step over the broken bottles.

"Training, what does it look like" Sam eyed him.

"You're holding your stick to high. If your holding it lower it gives you more control" Jackson huffed.

"Like you know" Sam ignored him, stepping closer.

"I've seen my brother train all the time, I know some stuff." Jackson stopped for a second, his hands moving more to the net of his stick. He fired another one, and hit it square in the center. He gave an airy laugh, surprised. He turned to Sam.

"Why are you helping me? I've been a jerk to you" Sam held up her eyes.

"Not so fast, your still a jerk" Jackson chuckled. "But you seem like you could use some company"

Jackson thought for a moment before he stepped over to his car, leaning against it. He stared at her.

"I won't bite you know" Sam blinked, snapping out of it and followed him, stopping a bit further away from him.

"So, what's up" Jackson rolled his eyes. "Just trying to be nice here. I can see there is a lot going on" Jackson turned away, wiping away the tears that threatened to fall.

"I just. I don't know. Everything's a mess" Sam watched him for a second before she nodded.

"Well, everything sounds like a lot so why don't you take it one thing at a time?" Jackson fell silent, thinking about it. "Like the conference we were supposed to be right now." Jackson cursed.

"I forgot about that" Sam shrugged.

"You were busy" Jackson moved away from the hood and opened the door. Sam stepped away as well, away from the car.

"Do you want a ride?" Sam's eyes widen.

"In your Porsche?"

"See any other cars around here?" Sam quickly got into the car. Jackson started the car and drove off. People stared at them as the car stopped and both Sam and Jackson got out.

"None of this happened" Jackson muttered to her, as they walked onto the school grounds.

"My lips are sealed" Jackson nodded and walked inside. Sam exhaled, taking a moment to collect herself before she followed him.

"Sam!" Melissa, Sam's mom, exclaimed in relief as she noticed her daughter. "Your here"

"I promised, didn't I?" Melissa shook her head.

"I can't say the same about your brother" Sam frowned.

"He's not here?"

"Come in" The two woman nodded and went inside. They took a seat and Melissa decided to call Scott.

"Where the hell are you? Get to the school now."

"How about we get started with Sam?" Melissa nodded, lowering her phone.

"Sure."

"Apart from her recent sick days I have nothing to say. Her grades are great and I'm going to advise some more advanced classes for the next year" Melissa's eyes wide, a huge smile on her lips. Sam turned red.

"Really?"

"Your daughter is quite a genius" He smiled before he exhaled, taking the next note. "Moving onto Scott. Lately his mind has been somewhere else, as has his body. Personally, I think it may have something to do with his home situation."

"Oh, well, personally, I'm not sure what you mean by 'home situation.'"

"Uh, specifically the lack of an authority figure."

"Yeah, I'm the authority figure, so -"

"Sorry. Allow me to clarify. I mean the lack of a male authority figure." Sam looked down at her hands.

"Oh. Well, trust me, we're much better off without him in the picture."

"Well, does Scott feel the same way?"

"Yes. I think so. I hope so." Sam nodded, speaking up for the first time.

"We both do" Harris nodded, "Alright then. That's was all"

-

The two woman walked out, but Melissa turned back around, seeing Alison's parents. Sam noticed them as well and walked off, not drawing attention to herself. That was until she heard a scream. She looked up to see a black figure charging between the cars. She was about to go after it when a hand grabbed her arm and dragged her back to the school. When she turned to face her 'attacker' she thought it was Derek but it turned out to be Jackson.

"Are you alright?" Sam nodded and decided to hang back, watch what happened.

It turned out to be a mountain cat. Mister Argent, the hunter, had shot it but Sheriff Stilinski got hurt in the process.
