Chapter 1

Aurora's P.O.V.

The people behind me knocked on my aunt and uncle's door. I was hand cuffed, again, the third time this week. I kept struggling until my aunt and uncle opened the door.

"Third time this week, you might want to keep her on a leash," The officer warned my aunt and uncle before pushing me inside and undid my cuffs.

The police then left without another word while my aunt walked over to me and hugged me while my uncle made some hot chocolate.

"Sooner or later the police won't bring you back home, honey, this is the third time this week and the government is already giving us a hard time with the house," My aunt informed me. We both moved to the couch, and I looked at a picture of me and my parents.

I was about three years old and I was on my dad's shoulder while my mom was cooking hot dogs right off the grill. We all wore a smile that day, a couple years before my parents were taken right from me.

"I don't care! The government has no right taking my parents without a very good reason!" I yelled. My aunt flinched, and I lowered my voice and apologized.

"We know sweety, but you don't know everything that's going on. Now come on, you're going to be late for school. You don't have that much longer to go," My aunt told me with a smile. I couldn't find it in me to smile back, I was nothing without my parents.

"Come on, I'll drive you to school," My uncle said while patting my back and giving me hot chocolate in a plastic cup.

I could tell that my uncle wanted to talk to me about something. He had that look on his face that told me it was desperate. Once I was in the car my uncle started the car and started the conversation.

"You know this has to stop," My uncle said to me. I rolled my eyes, I was never going to stop from freeing my parents. The government took them for no reason!

"Not until I know why my parents were taking," I said back while crossing my arms and looking outside the window. For the first time, my uncle sighed in defeat.

"If I say why, then just know that the government will come after me and your aunt. They can't take you away because if they do than your parents are free. The government will not stop to take me and your aunt away though," My uncle informed me. My head shot towards my uncle.

"I will make sure the government doesn't take either of you away from me, but I do want to know," I said to my uncle. I wasn't the same weak girl from ten years ago when they took my parents, I changed all those years ago.

"I'll tell you after school, but for right now," My uncle went into a secret compartment in his car and pulled out a very old looking spiral journal.

"If anything is to happen to me or your aunt, you have to keep this safe. Never show it to anyone, and only read it when you are completely alone," My uncle commanded. I was confused by all this, how bad is this secret or whatever?

"My brother never even let me read what was inside it, but I know that you will protect this with your life," My uncle said while his eyes sparkled. I hugged my uncle before getting out of the car and heading into school.

I placed my dad's journal in my backpack. I wasn't going to let anyone know that I even had this journal, even if it meant my life.

Unknown P.O.V.

"Sir, we just got info that he knows," A smile appeared on my face.

"Go to his house and bring him here for questioning, but leave the girl or else we'll have to release her parents," I ordered into the phone. I was not going to let this little girl win, I was determined to know what her father found when he went missing.

"Sir, we didn't find the place, but we found this strange creature that can change shapes, and it's already killed some of our men. This creature is very dangerous," One of my men replied back into the phone.

"Alright, I'll figure something out. Until then, don't go anywhere near him, just until I know someone that can record everything about him and not let him go," I replied while trying to think. I hung up on the guy before he could say anything else, I knew that was all he wanted to tell me.

I then thought back to that girl. I quickly took a look at her profile to see if there was anything useful.

Her full name was Aurora Mauge Ice, or she would be called Ami. She was a straight A student since she first started school.

I knew who her parents were, her father disappeared before she was born. Her mother was a kind woman that loved her only daughter to death.

Aurora has worked at an animal shelter, volunteered, and done many other things. My eyes then moved back to animal shelter.

It says she was bitten by a big dog when she was younger, yet she still saw the dog and the dog turned good and protected Aurora.

A smile appeared on my face, so this little girl is good with animals. I wonder...

Aurora's P.O.V.

My uncle never came to pick me up after school. I waited five minutes and after that I ran all the way home. It was a five minute ride to my school from my house. A twenty-five minute walk to and from school.

I ran all the way home. My body was screaming for me to get some water, to stop running, but I wouldn't stop. My stomach was telling me something was wrong and I just know that something happened.

Tears were coming down my eyes after ten minutes of running. I needed another five minutes, and I was more determined than ever to get home.

I was about to slow down once I got down my block until I saw police cars in front of my house. The door was wide open and some police men were still outside.
