Pressure

'What is this...? I don't understand... I feel...cold. Pain... But, I also can't feel anything...' Y/N thought. The world around him was inconceivable. His perception had crumbled down to a shallow glimpse of what was right in front of him. 'Is this what it feels like...to die...? It's...It's so lonely.' Y/N thought, mournfully. For a moment, a glimpse of something reached his mind. Movement, right in front of his eyes.

"Hey! Wake up! Y/N!" ???

'I know that voice...' Y/N thought. He tried to grasp the memory. It was so hard. 'Izuku...?' Y/N remembered.

"I thought he was refilling his blood so he wouldn't bleed out." Todoroki said, unsure. He had arrived on the scene just a few minutes ago, catching the end of their big fight. He held the end of a rope that was restraining the unconscious Hero Killer.

"Y/N's used his quirk too much. It's worn out his mind and made him too tired to stay awake." Izuku began.

"If he can't stay awake, he can't refill his blood! And he'll bleed out before he makes it a half mile!" Iida shouted, concerned. He and the Pro Hero, Native were helping each other to stand. Meanwhile, Izuku was on his knees, trying to help Y/N, who lay on the ground.

"Y/N! Stay awake!" Izuku demanded, tearing up.

"You're so loud, Izuku. Relax. I-I'm not dead..." I said, tiredly.

"This is all my fault..." Iida said, guiltily. The rest of the group turned to face him. "You all got hurt because I was selfish! I wanted revenge for my brother. I lied to you all and did something stupid, and you all had to come save me... I'm sorry..." Iida said again, crying hard. Ultimately, everyone else remained silent. Who could blame them for not knowing what to say...

"Yeah, that was really stupid of you, Iida." I suddenly said. The mutual stares had now turned my way. "But you'd have to be a hopeless dumbass to not see the good here. If none of us had been here, than Native would be dead and the Hero Killer would be out claiming his next victim. I, on the other hand, managed to get covered in various cuts and have since lost impossible amounts of blood. At least your fuck-up has a little ray of sunshine to it." I pointed out, coughing.

Several Pro Heroes had finally seen our groups and ran up. I recognized two of them as Gran Torino and Manual. The rest were miscellaneous strangers to me.

Anyway, Izuku had received a scolding from Gran Torino, that I was only technically present for. Between my injured state and my natural talent for tuning out things that annoy me, I had only heard a few words. In that time, someone had contacted an ambulance, for us injured, as well as the police, to take Stain. As usual, it was a relief to see the Pros get involved. But at the same time...

"So what took all of you so long? Did you stop at a McDonald's drive through or something?" I complained.

"Y/N!" Izuku said, surprised.

"We were in an alley. How were any of them supposed to know what was happening?" Native claimed. Despite also being injured, he tried to defend the other Pros present.

"Oh my god! How are you standing?! How are you even still alive?!" one female hero asked, seeing me.

"My quirk. Long story...don't care to explain it right now." I told them.

"Oh, that reminds me. When did you get here, Todoroki?" I asked, unsure.

"Midoriya had sent his location to our class group chat. I took off immediately, but it took me awhile to get here, from where I was." Todoroki explained.

"So, you just conveniently missed all the action, huh?" I said, sarcastically.

"Y/N!" Iida called out.

"Oh, calm down guys. I'm just being a dick. Knife wounds can do that to you." I stated, panting.

"Shouldn't you be more out of it? You must've overused your quirk by now?" Iida asked, surprised.

"You know, I've been thinking lately... It's kind of inconsistent how much or how long I can use my quirk... Sometimes I wonder...if my limits are only in my head..." I said, deep in thought. The faces around me were a mix of both intrigue and concern.

"Get down!" Gran Torino suddenly screamed. Everyone followed his gaze to see a Nomu with wings swooping down from the sky!

"A villain?!" one hero yelled. With its talon-like feet, the Nomu grabbed Izuku and started regaining altitude!

"Midoriya!" Gran Torino, Iida, Todoroki and I all shouted.

"There's blood dripping down! Did it escape here after being beaten?" one hero said. Before the Nomu got too far, it suddenly fell out of the sky. 'Wait, what? That was almost like...' I realized. In my injured state, I turned around as fast as I could. In that moment, Stain used a knife to cut himself free from his rope restraints and took off. He ran toward the Nomu and Izuku at great speed.

"This society overgrown with fake heroes...and the criminals who wave their power around idly..." Stain began. He leaped high into the air and jabbed a knife into the falling Nomu's brain. Then he gripped Izuku and used the dead Nomu to cushion their fall. The three of them fell to the street and skidded several feet before coming to a stop. "...should all be purged..." Stain continued. A familiar squelching sound could be heard as he pulled his knife from the Nomu's brain. "That is all to create a more just society." Stain added, now standing. The many heroes around all went on guard.

"He saved that boy?!"

"Idiot, he took a hostage!"

"He killed someone with no hesitation."

"Yeah, he does that." I spoke. Once again, I hid my fear behind sarcasm.

"Anyway, get ready for a fight now!" one hero shouted. As the Pros got into fighting stances, I drew my only undamaged pistol and aimed down-range at the Hero Killer.

"Whoa! Easy kid!" Gran Torino exclaimed. He took the gun from my hand. It was probably for the best. I was staggering a bit much to be aiming a firearm. Especially with my best friend in that direction.

"Why are you all standing around in a group? The villain should've escaped this way." Endeavor said, arriving. He had seemingly been chasing the now dead Nomu.

"How are things on your end?"

"Things got a little rough. But don't tell me that man is...?" Endeavor said. Taking in his surroundings, he quickly saw the Hero Killer.

"Endeavor." Stain spoke, glaring.

"Hero Killer!" Endeavor shouted, smiling wide. The flames on his body grew, ready to unleash wrath.

"Wait, Todoroki!" Gran Torino called out. It was then that the Hero Killer's mask fell off, showing his face.

An immense pressure could suddenly be felt, emanating from Stain. It was like he was giving off an aura of fear itself...

"You fake..."

"I must make things right..."

"Someone must be dyed in blood..."

"I must take back..."

"...what it means to be a hero!"

"Come! Try and get me, you fakes!"

"The only one I'll let kill me is the true hero...All Might!"

Suddenly, Stain's movement and monologue stopped. The knife in his hand clattered to the ground, breaking the unanimous silence that had been induced upon us by fear.

"What...?" I said, confused.

"He's...He's unconscious..." Gran Torino realized.

It was at that moment, that Y/N finally passed out. An uncertain amount of time passed after that. But it was sometime the next day.

I awoke in a cold sweat, a frightened gasp escaping my lips. "Y/N?" Iida asked, noticing my fear.

"Good to see you up, Y/N." Izuku said, smiling. I looked around in my stressed state and asked what most do in this situation.

"Where am I? What happened?" I finally spoke.

"That depends. How much do you remember?" Izuku asked.

"I can't believe you're actually awake already." Iida commented, surprised. He, Izuku and I were all in a hospital room together. Izuku was in his own bed to my right, with Iida across from us.

"Last thing I remember is...Stain! The Hero Killer! He was... It was like..." I struggled.

"It was like his conviction was so strong, it radiated from him like some kind of aura. Yeah..." Izuku spoke, understanding.

"Exactly..." I agreed.

"The Hero Killer ended up falling unconscious, due to a perforated lung. You went down just a moment later. The doctors still aren't sure if it was because of blood loss or overuse of your quirk." Iida explained.

"After we got here, Recovery Girl went right to work healing you. Just take it easy." Izuku added.

"How the hell did I last that long? I should've been dead or unconscious long before I actually was. What the hell is it with this quirk of mine...?" I said, darkly. A grim silence fell over the room.

"You're all looking as well as I could have expected." a familiar voice said. Me and the others turned to see the source. It was Sir Nighteye, standing in the doorway of the room.

"Oh, are you wounded kids awake?" Gran Torino said, entering. Manual was also with them.

"Gran Torino!" Izuku yelled, gladly.

"Manual..." Iida quietly spoke.

"Kids, I've got a lot of complaints for you. But before that, you've got a visitor." Gran Torino suddenly said. With that, someone I didn't recognize entered the room. Assuming they were a guy, he was as tall as the doorway and had a dog's head.

"Man, I just can't keep up with all these new dog breeds." I said, sarcastically. Izuku facepalmed next to me.

"This is the Chief of the Hosu Police Force: Kenji Tsuragamae." Gran Torino explained.

"Oh, so he is a guy. Wait, did you say Police Chief?" I asked. A wide smile appeared on my face, as a thought grew in my mind. Izuku must've sensed what was coming because his expression had already changed to one that emanated, 'Don't do it!'. As usual I ignored that look. "So, you're a talking Great Dane that solves crimes? (chuckles) Fucking Scooby-Doo...(wheezing laughter)." I said, regrettably. The Police Chief stepped forward, about to speak.

"Y/N! You're going to get us arrested!" Izuku screamed, embarrassed. I was still laughing.

"Hey man, in the past month or so, I've survived being caught in explosions, set on fire, shot with my own gun and being practically cut to rivets. So, I'm sorry, but I'm not sure I have much to fear at this point." I replied, confidently.

"You must be the UA students who brought down the Hero Killer, right?" Chief Tsuragamae asked.

"Yes..." Izuku quietly replied.

"Regarding the Hero Killer we arrested... He had fairly serious injuries, with electrical burns and broken bones and is receiving treatment under strict guard, woof. Since you are UA students, I'm sure you already know that when superpowers were still becoming the norm, the police attached high importance to leadership and standards and made sure quirks were not used as weapons. And then, the profession of 'hero' emerged to fill that gap, woof. For an individual's use of force and power that can easily kill others, actions that normally would be appropriate to be accepted officially, is thanks to early heroes who followed the rules and ethics of the profession, woof. Even up against the Hero Killer, for uncertified individuals to cause injury with their quirks without specific instruction from their guardians or supervisors is a clear violation of the rules. To my knowledge, only one of you three had such permission." Chief Tsuragamae explained, in detail. Izuku and Iida looked amongst themselves for moment before turning to me.

"I had permission. Sir said I could fight for the sake of defending myself." I stated, remembering.

"And the injuries you received suggest you did just that. Regrettably, you are the only one in this situation that is exempt from any issues of legality. The rest of you kids, as well as Pro Heroes Manual, Gran Torino and Nighteye, will all be subject to strict punishment." Chief Tsuragamae elaborated.

"Wait a minute." Todoroki suddenly said. He had just entered the room. The Chief looked back to him over his shoulder.

"I already explained you were free to go. You aren't hurt and you had no involvement in this..." Chief Tsuragamae began.

"That's not the point right now. This is about them! I know I was late to the situation and wasn't really involved. But from what I gather, Native would have died if Iida hadn't been there, and Iida would have died if Midoriya hadn't shown up! Are you saying they should've followed the rules and let people get killed?" Todoroki protested.

"W-Wait! Todoroki!" Izuku stuttered.

"Also, why is Sir being punished? I messed up the first time around, but I had permission to fight this time! He shouldn't be in any trouble!" I screamed, angrily. The Chief looked between Todoroki and I before opting to answer him first.

"Are you saying that as long as it turns out all right, it's okay to bend the rules?" Chief Tsuragamae asked, seriously. Todoroki's expression changed, as he thought how to respond. Next, the Chief turned back to me.

"Nighteye's actions resulted in a Hero student, you, receiving several knife wounds to the point you could have very well died, woof. In fact, had it not been for the nature of your quirk, we might not be having this conversation... Therefore, it is an agreed opinion that his judgment was, at minimum, flawed. A better choice could have been made. That is why he will be duly reprimanded, woof." Chief Tsuragamae retorted.

"Isn't it a Hero's job to save people?" Todoroki angrily screamed. The Chief closed his eyes and exhaled.

"That is why your aren't yet a full fledged Hero. Goodness, what are you being taught by UA and Endeavor, woof?" he calmly said.

"You damn mutt!" Todoroki exclaimed, walking forward.

"Stop it. He's absolutely right." Iida called out.

"Hang on a minute. You all need to hear him out until the end." Gran Torino said, stopping Todoroki.

"That was the official opinion of the police. And the punishment and such would only happen if it were all made public, woof." Chief Tsuragamae stated.

"Wait, wait, wait. Do you mean none of this is gonna be made public?" I asked, hopeful.

"Thankfully, there were very few witnesses. This violation could be crushed here, woof. It would be much easier for all involved parties if we just told the public that Endeavor brought down the Hero Killer, and swept this one under the rug. But, of course, you wouldn't receive any acknowledgment for your good judgement or achievements. Which do you prefer? Personally, I don't want to be the one to find fault with promising young ones because of one big mistake, woof." Chief Tsuragamae said, kindly. As he did, he gave a thumbs up.

"Either way, we will need to take responsibility for being negligent in our supervisory duties." Manual said.

"I am truly sorry." Iida spoke, bowing.

"All right. You'll cause trouble for others! If you understand, then don't do it again!" Manual ordered.

"I won't!" Iida agreed.

"I'm sorry..." Izuku said, bowing his head.

"We leave it in your hands. Please take care of it." I agreed, bowing my own head.

"Because of the unfairness of adults, you will not be able to receive the praise you would probably have gotten, but at least, as someone who also protects the peace, I can say thank you." Chief Tsuragamae said, gratefully. With the last line, he bowed before us students, in respect.
