Chapter 19

The next morning Legolas packed all your things and helped you on a horse to continue on.  He and Sigyn both stayed close to you in case you needed anything.  Sigyn handed you food and water throughout the trip trying to get you to build up a little strength.  You put on a brave face in front of the others, but your body was hurting, riding your horse grew harder as the day went on, but walking was no better.

You wanted nothing more than to lay down and sleep, but you knew how important it was to get to Rivendell quickly, they had already delayed the meeting on your account.

It was growing dark when you first entered the territory of Rivendell, the stronghold was still a few hours journey, but you had made it to safety.  A group of Rivendell soldiers greeted you upon entering the territory.

A well dressed elve with long hair approached you and Legolas at the front of the company.

"My lord Legolas, my lady (Y/N), I am Lindor, Lord Elrond sent me to ensure safe and uneventful passage through the heart of Rivendell," the man said bowing respectfully.

"Thank you, my friend," Legolas greeted the man, "I am very appreciative of your company, my lady is in need of medical attention-"

You cut him off, "Legolas, I am fine." He looked at you for a moment concern in his eyes before turning back to Lindor.

"Do you have food or proper medicine?" he asked.

Lindor's eyes flashed to you with sympathy, "I apologize my lady, I have brought some food, but you will have to make it back to Rivendell for proper medical attention." You nodded to him gratefully and he then turned to lead the company through Rivendell.

Along the road you started to feel very sick and get very tired, but you kept pain off your face so as not to alarm Legolas or Sigyn, but it was getting harder to hide.

"My love?" Legolas asked shaking your shoulder awake.  You realized that you had fallen asleep and almost fell off your horse.

"What? I'm fine babe," you responded placing your hand on top of his.

He looked at your concern and fear in his eyes.  "You are not fine, I have noticed that you are in pain, and tired, maybe we could stop for a bit," he trailed off but you placed a hand on his cheek.

"We are almost there, Legolas, we have to make it soon, the world depends on this," you responded.  He looked slightly angry and he pulled back to speak to Sigyn, you suspected it was about you not resting, trying to get a way to force you to rest.  Instead of focusing on it, you spurred your horse forward and fell in line with Lindor.

"I am indebted to you and your lord," you said nodding respectfully, "if you had not delayed the meeting, Legolas would never have had the opportunity to find me."

Lindor smiled at you, "in honestly my lady, we were already delayed as the ringbearer had not arrived on time, it was only partly delayed because of you, please do not think you owe us anything."

You smiled back at him grateful for his candor, "well I am grateful all the same."  The next stretch of the trip was uneventful.  With Legolas still trailing behind you, you took in all the beauty of Rivendell with Lindor as your guide.  He pointed out all of the beautiful hidden places and told you great stories as you rode through the countryside.  His tour made it easier for you to stay awake, you were grateful that someone was finally treating you normally and not as a wounded animal, it helped you forget your pain.

You were about to step onto the fortress grounds of Rivendell, when Legolas finally decided to approach you again.  You slowed your horse so that you were alone with him, but still moving towards the fortress.  Legolas cleared his throat and looked at you, "(Y/N), we need to talk."
