Chapter 1 Part 2

Disclaimer: I don't own The Flash or any of its characters. I only own my OC's. :)

I wake up to the bright morning sun blaring through my window and the birds chirping happily outside. I groan and roll over, covering my head with my pillow. I eventually find the strength to pull myself out of bed and I find myself trudging into the bathroom, practically shoving myself into the shower with icy cold water that seems to jerk me more awake.

Feeling refreshed, I get out of the shower and speed over to my closet, getting on a pair of faded blue jeans and my favourite green t-shirt. I speed over into the bathroom and in a matter of seconds, I have my hair pulled neatly into a high ponytail with a grey scrunchie. I race down the stairs and into my seat at the dining table, quickly piling my plate high with pancakes and eggs and toast that mum made me. She stares pointedly at me with an eyebrow raised.

"Lexi, what did I say about using your speed inside?" she states more than asks.
"Sorry," I say through a mouthful of pancakes. I shovel down all my food in seconds, I have always eaten quite a bit more than the average person due to my higher metabolism caused by my speed.

"I'm going to go for a run, maybe go read for a bit in the tree house as well," I tell mum.
"OK, just be back before dark," she calls after me but I am already racing out the door, putting on my boots and a coat as I go. It is not as cold as it was yesterday but I grab my scarf and gloves as well, just in incase it gets a bit chilly later.

As I run I decide to stop at the cemetery on the way to visit a certain gravestone.
Nora Allen, 1959-2000. She was Barry's mum who was murdered when he was little. Everyone thought his father did it but they later on proved it wasn't him but Harrison Wells.

I place a bundle of fresh lilies I picked on the way here by her gravestone before running off toward the clearing in the forest to train. Even though I don't know my biological parents, mum is, well like a mum to me. She is the only person I know other than the fictional characters in the books I read.

I skid to a stop as I reach the clearing, my shoes smoking slightly causing me to quickly stomp them on the ground until they stop. Just on the edge of the clearing is the tree house that I built myself a few months after I came here, needing a place to just be alone. I take off my coat, scarf and gloves running up the tree to put them inside. I run back down and start to run around the clearing, using my stopwatch as I timer for how fast I go.

I manage to run around the 100m clearing 20 times at my top speed before I start to get out of breath slightly. I come to a sudden halt and stop the stopwatch. 4.12 seconds, that's a new top record! I notice heat coming from my shoes and throw them off my feet just in time as they burst into flames. Too bad I have no way of measuring how fast I can go, all I can do is see how far I can run in how much time.

I climb up the ladder to the tree house and grab a bottle of water from my cooler I keep up here. I guzzle down 4 bottles of water before I sit down on the small couch I have up here and pick up the book I am currently reading. It is about a girl stuck in outer space by herself as her friends on earth try to find her and bring her back. If I wanted to, I could finish the book in milliseconds but then I would be bored for the rest of the day so I decide to flip through the book at a normal speed.

I finish the book a few hours later and look up to see the sun starting to set. I grab my coat, gloves and scarf before running down the tree house and back through the forest. It is a very painful process this time as I don't have any shoes but I manage to tough through it and make it back home in just under a minute.

I stare out the window as I lay in bed, imagining what it would be like if I managed to get out of wherever I am, to go and live in a place like Barry does where there are other people. I sigh and I turn onto my side, pulling the blanket up to my chin, I can only hope that one day, my dreams will come true.

I wake up with a sudden jerk and sit up looking around my room. It is still dark outside, I wonder what woke me? I hear a sudden fit of coughing coming from down the hall, in the small child's bedroom that we have for some reason.

I pull back the covers and slowly make my way towards the room. I peer inside and look around. I hear more coughing come from the room. I nearly gasp when I see what is making all the noise. In the corner of the room on the small bed, is mum, pale and sweaty with a fever.

"Mum, what's wrong? Why are you coughing like that? You aren't sick are you? You've never gotten sick before," I bombard her with questions. She weakly turns her head towards me, smiling softly as she looks at me.
"I'm sorry honey, there's nothing you can do. I'm dying."
"how's that possible? You were fine yesterday."

She is about to say something when a sudden strike of green lightning hits the ground in the distance, causing the sky to flash green for a few seconds. I jump in fright, wondering if I really just saw, green lightning strike.
"Was that…?“I start to say but she cuts me off.
"Yes, and it is only going to get worse, you have to leave before it is too late," she manages to get out, ending in yet another coughing fit.
"But how am I supposed to leave? It's not possible is it?"
"Barry is going to come soon, along with Wally, when they come, you can use their portal to get to earth but you must hide so that they don't see you. OK?"
I nod, tears dripping down my cheeks, this is the last time I'll ever see her.
"I love you, mum," I whisper.
"I love you too, Lexi," she replies, tears falling down her cheeks as well.

I hear the sound of two speedsters making their way up the stairs, that must be them. I quickly run out of the room at my top speed and into my bedroom.

I grab my bag and fill it with small important things to me first, my sketchbook and pencil, and my only photo of mum and I that I took with an instant photo camera last year. I wipe away a few tears still falling down my face and stuff in a few items of clothing before getting dressed myself in my favourite pair of faded blue jeans and green t-shirt.

More lightning strikes outside accompanied by a sudden fall of rain. I grab my gloves, scarf and coat, putting them all on and I swing my backpack onto my back. I'm about to leave my room when I notice Barry walking past my doorway.

I run into the bathroom, pressing my back against the far wall being as silent as I can as I hope he didn't see me. I stand there for a minute before deciding the coast should be clear. I run down stairs as the portal starts to close and I quickly leap through it as fast as I can. When I get to the other side, I have to be going fast enough for them to not notice me.

I close my eyes as there is a flash of white and open them to see myself in some sort of lounge room with a kitchen. It must be their hangout area or something. I continue to run and everything is frozen around me at the speed I'm going. I see Barry and a dark skinned boy, about 21 or so with him, it must be Wally, the other speedster.

They stay frozen as I run and I head out of the room, into a hallway with grey concrete walls. I run down it then split off left until I come across a large storage room, filled with crates that say STAR Labs on them. This must be one of their storage rooms. It looks as though nobody has been here in awhile so I go to the far corner of the room and place my backpack down on one of the crates.

I find a crowbar in the corner of the room and use it to pry the lid off of the crate. It appears as though it is filled with a bunch of sweatshirts in various sizes, all with the STAR Labslogo on them. I grab a few that appear around my size and chuck them into my bag. I grab my favourite book, that I decided to take along at the last second, from my bag and sit down on a blanket I found in one of the crates that was filled with them.

I open my book and am engrossed in the story already. No matter how many times I read it, the story of the boy that has powers and uses them to save people, is always my favourite.

A few hours later and I have finished the book yet again. I use my speed to quickly get dressed in something more comfortable for sleeping and lie down on top of my blanket and pull an extra one over me, sort of like a blanket burrito. As I lay on my side, I look at the photo of mum and I last year, tears running down my face as I silently cry myself to sleep.

I wake with a start, a sharp pain piercing my stomach. I gasp, it feels as though all my insides are on fire. I turn onto my side and pull my feet up to my stomach, almost like the fetal position. I barely manage to contain a scream as it only gets worse and my eyes start to tear up from the pain. I feel my body start to convulse as everything goes black.
