Chapter 8

[Olivia's POV]

It's weeks after tryouts and I haven't committed any crimes yet which is good. Volleyball practice has been on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. The week after tryouts that Wednesday I went to the auditorium after school and saw a few people in there.

-Flashback-

As I was walking into the auditorium I heard people arguing about what they should do. I walked towards the stage and they still couldn't see me, so I did what I thought was the best thing and yelled at them.

"HEY PEOPLE HOW YA DOING?" I yelled.

They all went silent and looked right towards me. The only girl on the stage jumped off and came towards me, "Well isn't it the criminal of the school." She looked me up and down and rolled her eyes.

"Wow, way to make me feel welcome. I recognize you, you're a cheerleader aren't you?" I asked smirking.

"Yeah I am, I'm also the backup singer and the bassist of the group. Joey over there is the drummer and Alex is the guitarist. Our lead singer graduated last year, I'm guessing you're trying to replace her?" the girl asked.

"Yeah, I need something to do. What's your name by the way?" I asked.

"I'm Isla. So you really think you are good enough to be in the band? There is plenty of talent in this school, what makes you so special?"

"I came to you, and I have seen no one else try to join your band. Now would you like me to sing for you or is that too much for the school's criminal to also be a singer?" I smirked and didn't even wait for an answer before jumping onto the stage and going over to the piano.

I started to play and I quickly figure out what to sing.

"I look up from the ground to see your sad and teary eyes
You look away from me
And I see there's something you're trying to hide, and I
Reach for your hand, but it's cold, you pull away again

And I wonder, what's on your mind?

And then you say to me you made a dumb mistake
You start to tremble and your voice begins to brake
You say the cigarettes on the counter

weren't your friends, they were my mates

And I feel the color draining from my face

And my friend said
"I know you love him, but it's over, mate
It doesn't matter, put the phone away
It's never easy to walk away
Let him go, it'll be alright"

So I asked to look back at all the messages he'd sent

And I know it wasn't right but it was messing with my head

And everything deleted like the past, yeah it was gone
And when I touched your face, I could tell you're moving on

But it's not the fact that you kissed her yesterday

It's the feeling of betrayal, that I just can't seem to shake

And everything I know tells me that I should walk away

But I just want to stay

And my friend said

"I know you love him, but it's over, mate
It doesn't matter, put the phone away
It's never easy to walk away
Let him go, it'll be okay
It's gonna hurt for a bit of time
So bottoms up, let's forget tonight
You'll find another and you'll be just fine
Let him go"

Nothing heals

The past like time

And they can't steal

The love you're born to find

But nothing heals
The past like time
And they can't steal
The love you're born to find

"I know you love him, but it's over, mate

It doesn't matter, put the phone away

It's never easy to walk away

Let him go, it'll be okay

It's gonna hurt for a bit of time
So bottoms up, let's forget tonight

You'll find another and you'll be just fine

Let him go"

It'll be alright
It'll be alright
It'll be alright
It'll be alright
It'll be alright
"

I finished the last bit of piano and then looked at the other three, "Well, what did you think?"

"I like her." Joey said looking towards Isla.

"So do I." Alex added.

"Ugh, you were good. But you aren't the lead singer yet, you still have to earn that since you're new." Isla replied. She looked at me and I knew she didn't want me to be in the band, but she was overpowered by the other two.

I smirked, "Wouldn't expect anything less."

-Back to present-

It's Friday so I have a free day, but Liam and Mani have practice so I decided to stay for a little while. I walked out of the school and towards the football field. I walked up the bleachers and as I was doing that I heard someone yell.

"Heads up!" I heard the person yell.

I quickly turned around and caught the ball that would've hit me right in the back of my head if I hadn't turned around.

"Nice catch." Chris said. He was a junior on the team and was on the offensive line.

"I've had some practice." I threw the ball back at him with a slight curve and then walked to the top of the bleachers.

I could see Isla down cheering for the team and I smirked a little. We are on decent terms but she still thinks that I shouldn't be the lead singer, but the guys said I should and that's that. I think she's just jealous anyways.

I have been eating with Sophia in the lunchroom with the others on the volleyball team. Me and Sophia have gotten closer to some of the girls than others but we all work together and do great during games.

Liam and Mani usually are at a table near us with the other football players and the cheerleaders at the same table or at the closest table. Liam and Mani still pay no attention to the cheerleaders and when the girls try to flirt with them they immediately say they're not interested and I laugh my head off when I see them turn red in either embarrassment, anger, or both.

"Olivia where did you learn to throw like that?" Sophia asked bringing me out of my thoughts.

"Oh, when I was younger my dad would throw a ball at me at random times and I liked to throw it back hard. Plus I always like to mess with the football players at my old school so I learned to throw as hard and far as them." I replied.

Sophia laughed, "Of course you used it to mess with people."

I smiled, "It's what I do."

{That's it for this chapter guys! Hope you enjoyed!}
