Chapter 7

Allura lay on the bed, resting the small bundle in her arms.

She was worn and tired, and tears began flowing down her cheeks.

Lance lay next to her bed, crying as well.

"It's a girl..." Lance murmured.

"Athea..." Allura whispered, "Lance, she's beautiful..."

Lance nodded in agreement, wiping his cheeks before slipping his finger inbetween the baby's clenched fist.

Allura ran her fingers through the baby's soft brown hair, and gasped.

"What's wrong?" Lance asked.

Allura beamed, "She has your ears."

Lance looked about to burst with joy and pride.

Allura slowly handed the tiny bundle to Lance, who imediently began cradling the baby.

The baby sucked in a gulp of air, before sneezing a tiny kitten sneeze.

Lance drew back startled, but quietly squealed in happiness.

"Allura! She just sneezed! It was adorable!"

Allura laughed, "Lance, she isn't as fragile as she looks, she is half Altean after all."

Lance set is forehead on the tiny baby's, joyus tears continuing to flow.

"I promise. I will keep you, and your mother safe, with all my life." Lance whispered softly.

Allura smiled at how caring he was, and how sweet and adorable he was acting.

Lance leaned over, both parents cradling their baby in their arms.

"We're parents, Allura..." Lance whispered.

Allura nodded, kissing his cheek, "I just hope we can give her happiness..."

Lance squeezed Allura's shoulder, giving her a soft look, "Stop doubting yourself, Allura. You are going to be an amazing mother."

Allura smiled before dropping her gaze down to the bundle in the pink blanket.

"Now I just hope she will go easy on us."

Lance chuckled, the reaching down, and kissing the baby' which pushed up her soft cheek, scruntching her face.

"Our little Athea..."

Lance walked up and down the hallway to the castle of lions, softly singing and rocking the tiny bundle.

Athea's eyes slowly dropped closed, as she sucked on the white and pink passifier.

Lance rested his cheek on the baby's warm head, taking in the sweet smell of milk and lavender.

He ran his hand through the baby's wild brown hair, combing the strands with his fingers.

He stopped when he reached the end of the baby's hair, seeing the specks of white at the bottom.

"Odd." He thought.

He continued walking back and forth, softly patting the baby's back.

Lance yawned and felt his eyes slowly droop as well.

He walked down the hall until reaching the long semi-circle couch.

He carefully laid-down, setting Athea on his chest, and draping the soft pink blanket over Athea's back.

Lance slowly closed his eyes, feeling the steady breathing of the baby, until he finally fell asleep.

Lance was breathing calmly, sleep making him relax.

He twitched when he felt a hand on his cheek.

He forced himself to open his eye, despite how much be didn't want to.

Lance saw Athea, laying closer to his face than he recalled, her tiny fist on his cheek, continuing to breath slowly.

He carefully stretched his legs, taking the bundle In his arms. Lance stumbled into the bedroom, his blue lion slippers not making the slightest shuffling sound.

Carefully setting Athea in her tiny crib next to their bed, Lance checked the clock on the night stand.

He rubbed his eyes, telling his body he would sleep again in a minute.

"Huh. I was asleep out their for three hours..."

Lance quietly drew back the covers, and slipped into bed, the fabric cold.

Once finding a comfortable position, he closed his eyes, and took a long, deep, breath.

Lance's eyes popped open when he heard the soft fussing.

He sighed, slipped out of the covers, and reached down into the cradle, Athea no longer crying when she was in Lance's arms.

Once getting back in bed, he laid Athea on top of his chest again, and watched as Athea's sky blue eyes, which complemented her light blue Altean markings, slowly dropped closed again.

Lance quickly closed his eyes again as well, then felt someone squeeze his hand.

"Thank you, Lance." Allura whispered tiredly.

Lance gave a simple hum, before drifting back to sleep.

Lance and Allura walked down the gravely path, heading towards the old farm house dressed in casual clothing.

Lance gave the door a soft wrap, and Allura tried holding Athea in her arms, but the baby seemed to only look around, almost wanting to runoff.

The door opened, and Lance's mother stoof in the doorway beaming.

"Come in! Come in! It has been while."

Lance and Allura entered the small house, and walked with Lance's mother to the family room, where everyone was gathered.

"We have a surprise!" Lance beamed as Allura set little Athea on the floor.

The family all gasped and instantly began cooeing to Athea, trying to get her to come over to them.

But, she just sat confused.

Both Lance's niece and nephew crawled over, and smiled in curiosity at the baby.

"What's on her face?" The little boy asked. He softly poked her cheek, and Athea giggled.

Lance laughed before reaching down and picking up Athea again.

"We're sorry we haven't been able to visit sooner, things have been a bit... chaotic at the castle lately."

Allura replied, before tapping the Athea's nose.

Athea gave another gurgling giggle before reaching back toward the ground.

Lance set her down, confused, and watched as she slowly crawled towards the door.

"Athea!" Allura called briskly walking to catch up with her.

Lance walked and set a hand on Allura's shoulder.

"You stay, you can talk with my sisters, I have no problem going with Athea."

Allura smiled.

Allura patted the top of Lance's head.

"Just, don't loose her."

Lance smiled before realizing her comment, and giving an offended, "Hey!"

Lance heard Allura laugh, and he scooped up Athea and headed out the door.

He held Athea in her arms, walking over towards a large tree.

Lance gently took Athea's small hand, and set it on the trunk of the tree.

Once Athea got the notion to keep her hand on the tree, Lance set his hand on the tree as well.

"Athea, this is the tree where your mother and I feel in love..."

Athea gave a small gurgling before softly patting the tree.

Lance laughed before guiding her over to Kaltennicker, who was solomly chewing on blades of grass.

"Cow."

"Ow." Athea repeated.

Lance laughed and set Athea's hand on Kaltenicker's head.

Athea became instantly distracted looking off somewhere else.

"What is it?" Lance asked.

"Wa!" Athea stretched out her hand, almost like reaching for something.

Lance looked over, and saw the near by beach, with the glittering sand.

Lance smiled at his memory of sitting alone on the beach, listening to the rocking of the waves.

"Wa!" Athea repeated.

Lance began walking until they reached the beach, and crouched down, taking Athea's hand he set it in the crystal water.

"Wa! Wa!" Athea chanted excitedly.

Lance smiled before sitting down on the warm sand.

"My Little Blue."

He set Athea on his lap, and watched as she splashed the water with her hands.

Lance laughed before kissing Athea's cheek, watching it squish her face.

"Lance! Athea!" Allura called.

Lance turned to where the sound came from, and stood, walking back down towards the farmhouse.
