Chapter 13

Age 12

Athea lazily sprawled herself across the rolling chair, proping her feet against the bridge control panel.

She sighed, resting her hands on the back of her head.

"Not much to do on a lazy Saterday..."
Athea muttered to herself.

The bridge responded in silence, and Athea just threw her head back in a groan.

She took her feet off the control panel, and propelled herself in the chair, spinning slowly.

Bored, Athea stopped, and stood. She placed her hands on her hips, looking around for something entertaining to do.

"I have explored every inch of the Quiznacking castle, and their is nothing exciting!"

Athea's voice just reverberated off the walls, quickly returning to silence.

Athea groaned again before pacing, folding her arms in defeat.

"I wish Kuro were here. Who else am I going to wreak havoc with?" Athea grumbled.

As Athea stalked back and forth, she accidently kicked something.

She looked down, seeing a loose cord coming out of the bottom control panel of the control unit.

Athea bent down, and picked up the tip of the cord, and followed the rest to the panel.

Athea took the cover off the panel, and say the various cords connecting to the circuit board, and tried placing the cord she found in one of the slots.

Of course, it didn't fit, and Athea tried jamming it in again, but that failed.

She placed the cord on the ground, and ran off down the hall.

She waited for the one metal door to open, and stepped in revealing a mechanical closet.

Athea began climbing up the shelves, and felt around until clamping onto the cold metal handle, and pulled down a red metal tool box.

She sprinted back down the hall, almost slamming into the wall, as she stumbled into the bridge.

Setting the box next to her, she sat cross legged on the ground.

Opening the cold red box, she pulled out a small pair of tweezers.

She pulled out the small metal cirlet, and reached blindly for the cord on the floor, the metal cirlet still pinched in the tweezers.

Wiggling the cord back and forth into the circlet, Athea managed to secure it in using a bit of electrical tape.

Athea carefully stuck the metal cirlet back into the circuit board, searing it down using a small wire of metal and a small heat gun.

Once finding everything secure and in order, Athea replaced the panel, and stood, dusting off her jeans, then turned and pushed the power button to the bridge controls.

Instantly, the panel lit up, and a wide, holographic screen stretched around the room, and various star maps dotted the spaces.

"Wooaahh..." Athea mumbled.

Athea looked down the the control board, wondering what button to push first. Then, saw a small blue glowing button with a V-like symbol on the front.

Athea causiously pushed the button, and was startled when a hidden door came out of the wall, and opened.

Athea slowly made her way over to the door. When she came close, a trail of lights began switching on.

Causiously, and curiously, Athea slowly made her way down the hall, her fingers gliding across the wall. Seeing the dust that had collected on her fingers, she brushed them against her shirt, and began walking faster.

Stopping at a pair of metal doors, in which opened, she stepped in seeing a medium size room, the walls covered in various capsules filled with various colored armour.

She glanced at the center of the room, where a table lay with handle like weapons color coded with the armour.

"Sick..." Athea muttered.

"I know, right?"

Athea jumped, before quickly whipping around, seeing Lance standing in his Altean customed clothing.

"Dad!" Athea shouted startled.

Lance laughed, folding his arms.

"I wondered when you'd find this room."

Athea settled on the table with the handle like weapons.

"So, what even is this place?"

Lance smiled.

"The Voltron Armoury."

Athea's eyes went wide.

"Voltron? I thought was just a bedtime story you told Me to get me to sleep when I was little. Not like I ever did sleep."

Lance shook his head.

"This castle is where it all started. You know Shiro, Hunk, Keith and Pidge aren't related to you, right?" Lance asked.

"Uhh... Yea, It's kinda obvious." Athea asked skeptically.

"Well. They were Paladins. Ones that would do anything for each other."

Athea looked confused.

"But. That's only four people. I count five arrays of armour."

"You see that blue set, right there?"
Lance asked, motioning with his head.

Athea turned around to the blue set, before turning back around.

"Yea?" Athea replied dragging the word out.

"Well. That was my armour. I was a Paladin of Voltron."

Athea's eyes grew wide again, and she looked between Lance and the armour, unsure whether to believe it or not.

"You? Were a Paladin of Voltron?"

Lance nodded.

"Your mom was too."

Athea felt she needed a reality check, or someone to pinch her arm at least.

"Then. What are those?" Athea asked pointing to the handled weapons.

"Bayards."

Lance effortlessly picked up the red one, and Athea watched in wonder as it changed into a long gun.

"Cooool!" Athea shouted.

Lance laughed, changing the Bayard back into a handle like weapon, and set it back down on the table.

Lance made his way out the parting metal doors, and Athea causiously turned around.

Athea stretched out her hand to touch the Red Bayard, but stopped inches away from it, quickly recoiling her hand.

"Athea? You coming?" Lance shouted from down the hall.

Athea quickly headed for the door, giving one more backward glance.

"Yea Dad!"

Athea hurried back down the hallway, the metal doors closing tight again.

When Lance and Athea made it back to the bridge, the door slowly sunk back into the wall disappearing again.

Lance walked over to the control panel, and clicked the power button, instantly shutting off the hologram again, and closing off the star maps.

"What do you say we go find your mom, and see if we can have Lunch. I'm starving."

"Yea, same here. I'm famished." Athea said with a fake laugh.
Athea perked up at a sudden confusing thought,

"How did you even know I was down there?" Athea asked.

Lance laughed.

"I came seeing if you had started any fires, or destroyed anything, but instead I found a tool box on the floor, and the armoury door open."

Athea mentally scolded herself for the dead giveaway.

As Athea and Lance talked, Athea already had a plan conjuring, readying itself in her brain.

Athea slowly lay in her bed, her eyes closed, but her senses heightened, waiting for a sound of any sort.

When it was dead silent for about ten doboshes, Athea slipped out of bed, her bare arms covered in chills from lack of long sleeves, wanting to go back to the warmth of the blanket.

Athea paused infront of the metal doors, waiting until they opened.

When they did, she made sure that her breath was silent, and her foot steps were light.

She scampered down the hallway, half expecting one of her parents to jump out from behind a corner.

Once arriving at the bridge, she stepped over to the control board, and gently tapped the on button, revealing the once present holograms and star maps.

Athea looked around for the blue button with the Voltron Symbol, and quickly tapped it when it was found.

She slipped over to the appearing door, and snuck down the defending hallway.

When she reached the armoury, her eyes instantly fell on the Blue Bayard.

Athea stretched out her hand, her fingers delicatly gliding against the cool metal.

Athea gently picked up the Bayard resting her fingers over the handle.
