Chapter 19

Everyone smiled at Athea's enthusiasm, and followed her over to the control panel of the bridge.

Athea simple tapped a few buttons, making the huge holographic star map stretch around the room.

Tyler, Hanna, and Jayden looked around in wonder.

"Woah..." They all said in unison.

Athea chuckled, and walked to the center of the room, "Alright. Let me see if I can do this..." Athea muttered to herself.

She stood on a platform, and everyone watched as the two pillars rose out of the ground.

"Athea, do you even know what your doing?" Kuro asked folding his arms skeptically.

Athea laughed. "Pfft, have a little faith in me, Kuro. "

He rolled his eyes, trying his best to force down the smirk peeking his mouth.

Athea gently rested her hands onto the tops of the teleduv, making it glow a light blue.

The star map zoomed into Altea, and scanned the surface of the planet.

Athea stepped off the platform, and walled up to the holographic image of Altea. She flicked her wrist, causing the map to zoom out and spin, showing the whole universe.

Athea stepped back, resting her hands on her hips.

"Ok. So this may be confusing, but I have the same power as my mother. But, I'm not strong enough to actually see what lion goes to who." Athea said nervously.

Kuro stepped up next to Athea. "Then what should we do?" Kuro asked.

Athea rested her arms in a folded manner, gazing up at the star map. "The best solution I can offer at the moment is try to reach out to all the lions. One is bound to connect to one of us."

The group nodded in agreement, and they all sat in a circle. Everyone closed their eyes, trying hard to push their conscious out into space.

Athea closed her eyes, imagining her mind spreading throughout space. Everything felt cold, and dark, her conscious feeling light and extreamly weightless.

"Lions of Voltron? I am princess Athea of Altea, and I am in need of your help. Something is happening... and I'm not sure we can restore peace without your help. We need Voltron again."

Nothing. Her mind was quiet, and still cold. Athea tried harder to push her consciousness even farther, having some help from her quintessence.

Athea called out again. "Voltron! Please, answer me! I want to prove to my parents that I can actually stand up and fight, and help make a difference like they did..." Athea said quietly.

Athea sighed, and decided to see how everyone else was holding up.

"Kuro? Hanna, Tyler? Jayden?" Athea called.

It was quiet before their voice managed to echo the space.

" Athea? Is something wrong?" Tyler asked.

Athea sighed again, frustrated with the outcome of her situation. "I can't reach them. Everything just feels... cold."

Tyler hummed in agreement. "Yeah, same here, It keeps giving me the chills. I haven't heard from anyone else since you called out."

Athea hummed in response, "Maybe you can help me Tyler." Athea said.

She could feel his confused expression. "And how is That?" He asked.

"Can you try linking your consciousness with mine? Maybe we can amplify our call."

"Ok, Yeah, I can see how that would work."

Athea felt something right next to her, figuring it was Tyler. Which was interesting to her considering he was sitting less than a foot across from her.

"Ready?" Athea asked.

She could feel him nod. "I'll try my best."

Athea pushed out her consciousness, feeling it push farther than it had gone when she was by herself.

"Voltron? Please answer my call."

Still silence.

"Voltron? Lions?" Athea asked.

Athea hesitated, before calling quietly,

"Blue?"

Athea felt a warm vibration fill her mind, shoving away the cold and darkness, and slowly replacing it with a warm, golden glow.

"Woah, wait, I'm feeling something!" Athea called out to Tyler, unaware if he was experiencing what she was seeing.

The golden light was so bright, Athea felt she needed to cover her eyes, but soon, a shadowy figure covered up the source of the light, helping shade Athea's face.

There was an earth trembling roar, shaking everything around her, the sound crisp and clear. Athea looked up, seeing the Red lion hovering in front of her, but looking more of a hologram than the real Red lion.

Her eyes went wide with wonder as she stared at the massive mechanical beast.

A smile peaked her lips as she reached out her hand. Her now warm fingers pushing through cold space, reaching out towards the Red lion.

Athea's fingers made contact with it's chin, only to see that, she made it fade away into glittering quintessence.

Athea spun around, searching everywhere for any other lions, or maybe the consciousness of one of her friends.

She sat for a moment, waiting. But there was nothing except cold space, yet again.

"Tyler!" Athea shouted, hoping he would respond. But nothing. There was nothing but glittering emptiness around her.

It took all of Athea's brain power to force her body's eyes open. It hurt when she had, the dim lights of the room seeming like thousands of super novas.

Athea rubbed her eyes, feeling as if they had been glued shut for years. She looked around, seeing Tyler rub his eyes too. But everyone else's eyes were still closed.

"Tyler?" Athea asked.

He looked up from rubbing his eyes with him palms, then scanned everyone in the circle, seeing them still in a trance like state.

"When do you think they'll come out?" Tyler asked.

Athea shrugged. "Not sure. The best thing we can do is just wait."

He nodded, continuing to scan the room.

"Did you make contact with a lion? Because after you shouted towards me that you felt something, I couldn't hear you anymore. It's like your conscious vanished."

Athea nodded. "I made contact with the Red lion. But once I touched it, it just crumbled to dust." Athea explained.

Tyler nodded. "Same here. Except, my lion was Blue. When I went to touch it, it faded away."

Athea nodded. "Ok. So, at least we have one down. That will make it easier on us. Now, we wait for everyone else."

Tyler nodded.

They sat for a few minutes, the thick silence awkward and suffocating. The only noise was the steady sound of everyone's breathing.

"So..." Athea said, her discomfort clear.

"So..." Tyler repeated. They both looked away, finding a sudden interest in the ground.

"How did you end up in a orphanage in the first place?" Athea asked hesitantly.

"Yeah, Umm, I'm just gonna go get something to eat." Tyler said, standing, and exiting the bridge.

Athea sighed at her awkwardness, then looked up studying the peaceful looking Hanna, Kuro and Jayden, as they were lost in the space of their consciousness.

Athea stood, brushing off her pants, before going to the over to the holographic star map.

"Show me the Blue lion." Athea ordered.

The screen grew, showing a small image of the Blue lion.

Whereabouts: Unknown

Athea sighed, and sat back down onto the ground.

She couldn't help but feel disappointed and jealous of Tyler knowing Blue hadn't come to her.

"Who knows," Athea said, trying to convince herself, "Maybe Red just needed to know that I could be trusted? Or maybe that I wasn't afraid?"

Athea looked around, boredom getting the best of her. She just sat quietly, waiting for her friends.

Suddenly Kuro gasped, breathing heavily as he came out of his consciousness. Hanna and Jayden came out the same, looks of terror on their faces.

Athea jumped, scrambling to her feet, before going over to see the problem.

"Hey, woah, what's wrong?" Athea asked quickly.

Kuro's breathing was quick and heavy as he stared blankly at the ground, before slowly meeting his gaze with Athea's.

"Something is going to happen." Kuro muttered.

Athea felt she had been knocked back a few steps. She gently shook Kuro's shoulders. "What do you mean. Kuro what are you talking about?" Athea asked, her tone firm and worried.

Hanna turned to Athea. "There coming..."

Athea felt her heart rate intensify, and her head swirling with confusion.

"And, we won't be able to form Voltron..." Jayden muttered.

Athea growled in frustration, "What are you talking about! What is going to happen?!"

All three of them shared glances, before looking to Athea. Athea's eyes bouncing from one person to another worriedly.

"Something... is going to happen to the lions."
