Just keep a low profile, and maybe he'll lose interest. That was what you hoped at least. Your needy, intelligent, and energetic neko had developed feelings for you, dangerous ones at that. At first, right after you had adopted him, he was beyond wary of you, but that quickly changed when you let him get comfortable and didn't force him to do anything he didn't want to.

Oliver soon realized that you didn't want to hurt him, but just wanted to care for him and give him a space where he could be himself. He wasn't used to kindness, being abused and used for wealth and money, his unique appearance and features garnering unwanted attention.

As a neko, he was highly sought after by many wealthy people, being used to show off to other rich people. Oliver didn't know much love, being abandoned by his mother from birth, passed from greedy hands into abusing ones time and time again.

You were different though, you only wanted him to be comfortable. You let him sleep anywhere, eat his meals alone, and gave him access to your spacious yard. As time passed, the neko viewed you as his protector, his savior, though those feelings of adoration soon warped into romantic love.

His affections at first, at least to you, were seen as gratefulness and friendship, but his behavior soon changed for the worse. He began trying to please you by killing mice, birds, and bringing you things he had found from either the neighbor's yard or somewhere else in the area.

Then Oliver went about making you feel his affection, laying across your lap, holding your hand, and sneaking into your bed at night. You ignored it, knowing the pain that he had experienced in the past likely influenced his decisions.

While you weren't fully wrong, you weren't completely correct either. Oliver did love you because of the pain of his past, but he also knew your secret, the one you had been desperately trying to keep. He only found out while digging through your closet, smelling your clothes in order to memorize your scent.

He knew that your scent was unique and somewhat familiar to him, but he never thought much about it, not till he really analyzed your smell. You smelled like a female neko, he realized. He had been around a female neko once, and it was brief, his rich owners not allowing the two to interact.

How could this be, though? You didn't have ears or a tail that he had seen yet, but you smelled like female of his kind. Oliver, now that he knew you were a neko, loved you even more for it. You could be his mate, his lifetime partner now!

He was going to make you his mate anyways, but since you were a neko, he knew just how to attract you. He ventured to where he saw you last, the kitchen. You were standing over the stove, making seared salmon, a pan of sizzling vegetables to the side of the fish.

You always made him meals that involve fish since it was a delicacy for nekos, but you also added human parts to it. Oliver could only smile happily because you really were perfect for him. He snuck up to you, light on his feet as always, and wrapped his arms around your waist, his fluffy black tail swishing behind him slowly.

You were startled by his sudden touch, not hearing him approach, but quickly went back to focusing on cooking dinner for you and him. While you accepted his affections early on, his recent invasiveness was really starting to worry you and you planned on addressing that tonight.

Oliver tilted his head, trying to find the words to speak. He wanted to reveal that he knew your secret, but he didn't want to make you uncomfortable. You flinched under his touches, and gently tried to remove his arms, "Oliver, can you go sit at the table? I'll bring the food over in a sec."

The neko male frowned at your indirect rejection of his affections but sat at the dinner table anyways. He watched intently as you placed the salmon on two plates, pacing the vegetables next to the fish shortly after.

Placing the meal in front of Olive, you sat down across from him, beginning to cut the salmon. The male hadn't moved to eat yet, which was unusual for him, making you worry. "Is something wrong, Olver?"

The male in question snapped his gaze to yours, his black fluffy hair falling in front of his eyes. His ears flattened to his head, and he looked away, suddenly afraid of confessing to you. You cleared your throat, adjusting one of the hats you always wore over your head, urging Oliver to respond.

He only sighed, forcing himself to look at you. "Y/N, why didn't you tell me you were a neko?" His words had just left his lips, and you bolted out of our seat, now standing in panic. "What?"

Oliver winced at your reaction, making himself stand too, trying to find a way to comfort you. "I know what a female neko smells like, and you carry the scent of one." You began pacing, shaking your head harshly.

Your typical attire consisting of baggy pants and sweatshirts concealed your slim, but long (h/c) tail from sight, allowing you to live a normal human life. You had a job, a house, and lived like everyone else, and you couldn't give that up, not for Oliver. What if he exposed you, what then?

Oliver made his way towards you, gently grabbing your arms. "You don't have to worry, kitten. I'll keep your secret if you let me keep you." The male added a flirty wink to the end of his statement, trying to lighten the mood and ease your worries, but it only tripled them.

The last male neko to discover your identity as a female neko had ripped your ears off, the physical and gruesome altercation still a fresh wound you had been trying hard to forget. Male nekos were very possessive over females since there weren't many left, which was a part of the reason you tried to stay far away from them. Oliver just reminded you of yourself, and you wanted to help him, but maybe that had been a mistake.

They typically mated with females on sight and forced them to accept the mate bond, something Y/N wanted nothing to do with. They were also very possessive and controlling, another thing you didn't want. With Oliver's newfound knowledge of your status, he would become dominating, and suffocating.

You had to get away, start anew somewhere else. You had saved up enough money to live somewhere else, and you could fly low, stay under the radar. The only problem was that the male you wanted to escape was currently holding you.

You laid your head on his chest, pretending to give in. Oliver smiled at this and purred softly, loving how you fit against him. He slowly let you go and sat back down, waiting for you to do the same. You both ate in silence, Oliver's adoring gaze fixed on you the entire time.

He wanted to wait to ask you the big question till after you finished eating. He could hardly wait, the words bursting past his lips as soon as you set your fork down. "Y/N will you be my mate?"

You froze, your worst fear confirmed. He would never let you go, and he would force you to stay at home with him all day, giving him love, attention, and anything else he wanted. He would force you to give up your life. Eventually his desire for you would drive him to force you to have his kittens, something you refused to even think about.

Oliver tensed at your face, which had quickly gone pale. You shakily pushed yourself out of our chair, mumbling to him as you left, "I need to go to the bathroom, be right back." The male sighed in sadness as you all but openly rejected him but decided to give you some time to think.

After ten minutes though, he became concerned, finding his way to the bathroom door. He knocked gently, waiting for your response, but heard nothing. His anxious hands twisted the doorknob, finding the door to be locked.

What was taking you so long? Why did you lock him out? He began banging on the door, desperate to hear you, to see you and hold you. He was beyond manic at this point, kicking the door harshly, forcing it to give way to him.

He raced inside the bathroom, not finding you, but finding the window wide open. "No! Y/N! Kitten, come back!"

He jumped through the open window, your scent faint, but still traceable. He followed your scent, hearing a car start in the driveway. His speed increased and he made it to the driveway just in time to see you speed off, panic written all over your face.

A few weeks later, you had secured a job, one that allowed you to stay low. You had also got a small apartment, in one of the grimier areas of town. Oliver haunted your thoughts, and you lived in paranoia, but you knew he couldn't find you.

You weren't sleeping well though, nightmares from the past keeping you awake. So, it was only natural that when you stumbled out onto the streets on your way to work, you didn't notice the sharp eyes trailing you, or the soft steps behind you until it was too late.

His hands reached out quickly; his catlike reflexes able to subdue you struggling. He pulled you into an alley, his grip soft, but firm. He held you in his arms his form shaking. He had suffered severe anxiety when you ran away and hunted relentlessly for you.

His arms were tied around you, and his head was nestled in the crook of your neck. Oliver's black hair was unkempt, his eyes dilated. He laughed to himself as he held you, "Y/N, I found you! My mate, please don't ever worry me like that again."

You were still trying to escape hm, but he wouldn't let go. His tail tried to wrap around your leg, but your thrashing didn't allow him to. His tail did succeed in pulling down your high waisted pants, revealing your own sleek tail.

At the sight of it, Oliver mewled, beginning to purr. You were just so beautiful to him, and despite not having neko ears, you were the perfect little mate for him. He petted your head soothingly, trying to calm you down, and his hand swept over the rough scars from where you had to have your ears amputated due to the attack incurred on you.

He would find the neko responsible and show him real pain, but first he had to get you settled. He already had made a den for the two of you in the woods not far from your town, all he had to do was get you there. Yes, you both would have to live in the wild, but he supposed it was better that way.

You'd have to rely on him for most things, and there was nowhere for you to run away to. It would be harder when you were eventually pregnant with his kittens to care for you, but he'd do the best he could.ย

He'd love you, hold you, and give you whatever you wanted. He only wanted to serve you and have you in his arms, and your new life in the wild with him would allow him to do so. He could be free to love you and give you the perfect life, as his mate, by his side. "Kitten, it'll be alright, I'll take you away from all this, I promise."

His words, meant to be soothing, were anything but. You struggled even harder, adrenaline coursing through your veins. Oliver's hold was soon released, which sent you crashing into the wall, headfirst. You had only succeeded in knocking yourself unconscious, greatly worrying the male.

He cradled you gently, analyzing the wound on your temple. It was slowly trickling blood, and he knew you had probably suffered some head trauma, likely a concussion, but other than that you were fine. Oliver sighed in relief, and knew that despite you injuring yourself, it would be easier to move you into the den this way.

He carried your bridal style, heading towards the forest where you would disappear from human society, and into one where you only had him. "Oh, Y/N, my little kitten, now I can love you every second of the day. I can give you the treatment and relaxation you deserve. Rest easy, mate, I'll take care of you."ย

Idk why but I'm not too happy with how this turned out :(
