60: THEIR GREED

"Olivia, have you received the money?" Rachelle asked, referring to the counterfeit that they're about to give towards her Nanny who must have been patiently waiting for her money.

"Yes, it's within this bag. Are you sure you want to go?" Olivia asked as she was having contemplations over whether to let her mistress run over her nanny or let her stay in this place instead.

You don't know the dangers that are lurking around the corners.

"Silly, of course, I'll have to go. She's waiting for her beloved money. Who am I to suddenly back out? I already paid a lot for this." Rachelle chuckled as he stood up from sitting in front of her vanity mirror.

She was wearing flounced sleeves stitched in a jewel torso, partnered with a modified A-line skirt with stitches of flowers at the end of the skirt. Her back was tied similarly to how corsets are tied, adorned by minimal frills and buttons.

It was simple and didn't scream like she was a Princess from a rich family. She decided to wear this to look like a humble approachable person, who seemed as if she would never do anything that bad.

Yet, she's doing the opposite of what her looks are trying to convey right now.

"Shall we go? I can already see the Madame with her nose puffing out smoke in anger. Looking like she's running out of patience." She joked as she fixed her hair which was only braided to match her peaceful appearance.

"If you say so, Mistress," Olivia answered, sighing as she didn't have the choice but to let her Mistress not attend this another disaster that would happen. Ha, just imagining it makes her head throb in pain.

They made their way out of the castle, without anyone interfering with them. There's no shadow of Helena trying to retaliate for what she said earlier or to piss her off, or Alexander who would constantly ask her about random things, or the Duke who would just stare at her with his eyes mixed with emotions she couldn't comprehend.

In short, it was a lovely day to go out to cause another drama that would stir the whole society. Just imagining it makes Rachelle's heart flutter with joy.

The Carriage arrives at the Café where they decided to meet up. The chauffeur opened the carriage door, extending out his hand to greet Felicia out of the carriage while Rachelle came out, holding the chauffeur's hand.

She looks like a surreal beauty with her gentle demeanour. Even the chauffeur has to stop and pause, taking a look at her mistress who bestowed her a smile and a warm thank you for serving her.

The Goddess knows how Rachelle managed to rob the man's heart as he looks at her like a fool, eyes almost shaping into a heart shape. Meanwhile, Olivia just shrugged at the man's buffoonery, couldn't believe he was under her spell that fast.

"Let me, Mistress," Olivia said as she abruptly stopped her from opening the door of the café, pushing it herself while maintaining a proper look, holding a suspicious bag. Rachelle just nodded her head and went inside, followed by Olivia who walked behind her, maintaining a professional look.

"Ah! My favourite daughter!" Someone exclaimed making Rachelle almost lose her facial expression and turn it into a frown, bewildered by someone's claim. Everyone's attention suddenly turned towards Rachelle who just stood there, awkwardly while not losing the smile on her face.

It's as if the people inside saw a Ghost, everyone was shocked to see that the first daughter of the Ducal family was in front of them, wearing a simple dress but still managing to get everyone's attention like it was nothing.

Right there, Madame Hildegard approaches her with a wide smile on her face. Her eyes then stared at the maid who was holding a bag which made her smile even wider than usual.

'People really need to learn how to hide their emotions. It's easy to read what's on their mind.' She thought to herself and smiled brightly at the woman who approached her, hugging her tightly while patting her shoulder in a gentle manner.

'Look at her, acting so damn fake. Tsk, not a good actress.' She thought to herself once again, mocking the Baroness in her head as she hugged back.

"I was waiting for you! Oh my, you look very refreshing." The lady complimented her, smiling while looking at her from head to toe. "God, you look like the Duchess when she was young. Oh my, it's inappropriate to talk about things like this. Hurry, hurry! I reserved a table for us!" She immediately said, acting like she just didn't offend Rachelle once again and pulled her to a table where someone was already sitting.

It was a young man, definitely a very young man, younger than Helena. He looks like a timid chubby little man, who's trying not to make it awkward for everyone. Seeing Rachelle closely, the young man suddenly blinked, stood up and looked at her in awe.

Goddess, this woman in front of her is beautiful.

"Ah, this is my son, Lowell Norwagen. Lowell darling, this is my beautiful child whom I was taking care of before you were born. Allow me to introduce you to her Ladyship, Felicia Vivianne Del Montague. The first Lady of the Ducal House Del Montague." Baroness Norwagen announced as if to be proud of her right now.

But the reason she announced it is for everyone to take a look at the lady who visited her, garnering a lot of eyes being directed at Rachelle right now, shocked and astounded to see the Lady who disappeared for like years.

'It's been so long since I heard Felicia's long name. It's too much. But does she really have to announce my presence to everyone?' she frowned, it's gaining a lot of unnecessary attention from ladies who are now starting to talk behind her back.

"Ah, it's nice to finally meet you, my Lady." Lowell greeted with a bow, waiting for Felicia to offer her hand for him to kiss it. But Rachelle just stood there, contemplating whether to let the man kiss her or not.

The Baroness was looking at her, it's as if she was telling Rachelle through her eyes to not make this difficult for her. She must be referring to Rachelle not wanting to extend her hand towards her son.

"My Lady, please do it. You're wearing gloves anyway." Olivia whispered behind her back, pointing out that she was wearing something to protect herself from an unwanted kiss on the hand.

"Ah, forgive me for spacing out. Yes, it's also nice meeting the young Lord." She greeted back, didn't perform any curtsy since he wasn't an important person, but your average young Lord Baron.

She extended her hand, still feeling disgusted but had to do it. Lowell then caught her hand and placed a kiss on the back of her hand while staring into her eyes, completely fallen because of her looks.

"You can now pull away, Sir Lowell." She reminded, her lips curved into a subtle smile while trying not to offend both the mother and the son. Realizing that he was being rude, the Baroness immediately held her son's hand and made him let go of Rachelle's hand, laughing it off.

"Forgive my son, dear. He's really shy." She stated, chuckling it off as she tried not to get this awkward. "Please take a seat, dear." She invited, secretly hitting her son by his side to pull her a chair.

Getting the signal, Lowell then moved, pulled a chair for Rachelle to sit down and smiled at her after she sat comfortably in front of them, followed by the Baroness and him.

"I'm sorry it took a while for me to take the chance of delivering the money. However, I was questioned a lot by the Duke as to why I needed such money." She let out a lie, acting embarrassed towards them.

"Oh no, dear! I should be the one apologizing for forcing you into this. I really shouldn't have done it." Baroness Norwagen answered, shaking her head while smiling at her.

Rachelle could see the greed burning in her eyes as she sighed, this woman was really determined about her plan. What a sad ending for the woman who used to take care of her.

"Ah, Lowell is currently studying at the Academy where your brother used to go. What did you take again, sweetie?" Baroness Norwagen asked, her head turned towards her son, secretly pinching Lowell under the table as he was looking at Rachelle so intently.

Which by the way made Rachelle feel disgusted.

"Ah! Oh yes, I took the course in Financial Management at the academy. It was hard at first but with your help, I'll be able to graduate sooner than expected." Lowell answered, smiling at Rachelle whom he tried to feel interested in.

"Oh... That's actually a great course. Once you finish, you'll be able to look for jobs that offer good salaries for you. Well done." Rachelle complimented the young man with her kind facade.

Really, his son is learning how to handle money in an effective way but their actions didn't change on how to spend money. Look at this, they specially chose a café which costs a lot, and now Rachelle wonders who will be the one paying for all of their refreshments.

"Thank you, my Lady," Lowell replied, scratching the back of his head while blushing. Being complimented by a beautiful woman is something to be bragged about.

"So where is the money?" Baroness Norwagen asked, trying to look innocently as if she didn't get the idea that the money was currently being held by Rachelle's maid, standing behind her back while looking down.

Alas, she couldn't wait for the money to be in her hands, ey? How disgusting.
