34: REVEALING NOCTUA

Rachelle came out from the bath alone. It's been a while since she had taken a bath to herself with no one else to help her. Meanwhile, Olivia was on her bed, lying down as she had still not woken up from passing out earlier.

She must've passed out for knowing too much. Good thing that nothing serious happened other than Olivia fainting while begging for her life. Even Noctua was speechless to see that humans are weaklings at some point.

"I shouldn't have threatened her," Rachelle said, telling Noctua as she opened her closet which was renovated to have a small room inside to fit all of her dresses. She had too many dresses to wear now for this season only.

"No, you did the right thing," Noctua said, pecking its own feathers while testing on top of the bed. She didn't bother replying to the bird. She was feeling rather sorry for what she did towards Olivia. The feeling of being guilty sure is occupying her heart.

After choosing a simple dress to wear, she decided to wear the dress but had difficulties putting it on. "God damn how to wear a dress without experiencing difficulties with it? Why are they made this way? Just to let people suffer from trying to tie a knot?" She complained to herself to which the Noctua heard and rolled its eyes.

Rachelle was busy fixing the dress on herself when suddenly, Noctua croaked, as if it was a surprise, followed by a loud shriek and Olivia calling out her name. Rachelle immediately heads outside of the room, frowning as Olivia calls for her.

"Master! Master! What a crazy dream I had! You see... t-this bird in front of me started talking and you stole a sword! You even almost stabbed me with it so I begged for my life! Oh master, I'm so scared that I thought I was going to die—" before she could even finish her words.

Her eyes suddenly gaze at the bird that she was currently pinning on the bed with her hand to immobilize the bird. As her eyes saw the bird's expression, a frown appeared on her face as she couldn't discern if she was still dreaming or not.

Why is the bird from her dreams still here?

"Release me, you filthy human!" Noctua angrily croaked towards Olivia who then let out an ear-deafening shriek that made Rachelle cover her ears for her loud voice. If not for her room protected by sound barriers, she would've attracted a lot of unwanted attention.

"Shut your mouth or I'll kill you!" Rachelle said. Forget that she's feeling guilty for almost stabbing her because right now, she's about to slay an innocent being because of being loud.

Olivia immediately shut her mouth, blocking it using her two hands while staring at Rachelle with fear in her eyes, not wanting to die. Rachelle had scared her more again today and she might get traumatized over this.

"Okay... here's the deal. Since you've witnessed everything and no you are not dreaming, I will let you live but you have to close that damn mouth of yours." Rachelle said towards Olivia who constantly nodded her head in agreement.

"Good. If I saw you talking about this matter to everyone else, do know that you will never be able to see the sun rising once again. Because I'll slit your throat and present your body in front of our gate." She threatened her once again and Olivia agreed.

"Good. Since you understand what I said, allow me to explain it further so you do not get any mix-up. Since you're my ally now, this is my bird. He can talk and he can converse like a human being, Noctua." Rachelle said, introducing Noctua to Olivia.

"But my lady, why are you associating yourself with a bird related to death? Aren't you scared my lady? They are classified as death-eating birds... you shouldn't let it come near you, my lady." Olivia said, trying to block Rachelle away from Noctua who was grooming itself after being pinned on the bed.

"Excuse me? I? The great Noctua is associated with death. Who spread such nonsense?!" Noctua said after hearing her words, angry at Olivia. Noctua and its kind are spiritual birds that are created to guide every saintess! This mortal is speaking ill of its kind!

"Kill her, Felicia! I have changed my mind!" Noctua said, brimming in anger as he flew into Olivia's direction and was about to pluck her head until she became bald but Rachelle's quick response made it stop as it was caught in Rachelle's arms.

"Let me go! I must kill that human! How awful and ridiculous her claims were!" Noctua said as he tried to struggle from getting crushed into Rachelle's arms while Rachelle tried not to let it go from her grasp.

"Calm down, Noctua. It must be a plot created by the church. Although I do not know the reason as to why they fabricated a lot but I'm sure that the Church knows something that could change the public's eyes. Especially that the pope is filled with mysteriousness." She said, calming the angry bird in her arms.

"I-I apologize! But we were told since we were young that we should avoid birds looking like that. The priests were the ones who told us about it." Olivia stated, defending herself.

"See? I told you. The church had planned this and we're about to figure it out." She added, brushing its head. If Noctua is a person, he or she would be huffing and puffing his or her cheeks in annoyance.

"These idiots are trying to mess up with the Goddess..." Noctua mumbled to himself but it was enough for Olivia and Rachelle to hear what it said and Rachelle couldn't agree more.

There was something about the church that felt like an endless trap for her and if she were to expose herself, she would be caught and used like a slave and she has no chance to stand against Helena as Helena had already gathered people that would stand tall for her.

If she were to reveal her position to the royal bloods, she might also end up getting used by them for their own benefit. It's better to stay cautious rather than entangle herself from future troubles.

As much as possible, she would be glad if she were to handle her very first task without getting into some sort of connection between risks that might affect her plans in the future.

"Hm... say I have a question actually about the Goddess..." Felicia said as she sat on the bed with Olivia, placing Noctua on her lap while pondering her question in her head.

"Since you said that you were created directly from the Goddess, then you should have a strong connection with the Goddess. If you could feel her connection, where is she right now?" Felicia asked.

Noctua then opened its beak as it was about to answer when suddenly, it also didn't know what the answer to her question was. Although it was relatively easy, it seemed that it couldn't answer her question.

"I still feel some connections but to depict the location of the Goddess? Of course, she's in an eternal place wherein peace reigns above! She's over there, watching us with her eyes." Noctua said with exaggeration.

"But that's not the point... or is it just me thinking that the Goddess is here? Who knows she might be blending with everyone else like a normal person but that would be absurd.... is it?" She asked, curious too about her sudden feeling.

She felt like something was missing as if an important part had been left out. But she'd rather not overthink it since she has something to think over and that is the ruby that she found. Something about that Ruby feels like it would connect everything from the beginning to here.

"You're making it hard for yourself. Just get some rest and don't think about some nonsense." Noctua said, gazing at Olivia who was dumbfounded at the side, as if lost in her own thoughts.

Noctua suddenly croaked at Olivia and opened its wings to strike fear and it was successful as Olivia immediately leapt out of the bed, hiding in Rachelle's body, blocking the Noctua's piercing eyes.

"Yeah... you're right... I won't be eating any meals for today Olivia. Tell them that I am tired and I wish to go to sleep. Today made me feel very exhausted." She said as she was about to lay down but Olivia grabbed her first by the waist, pulled her up and immediately fixed the dress she was wearing, fixing the mess she created.

"Of course, my Lady. Is there anything else I could get for you?" She asked, trying to distract herself and forget that the bird was still there, lying comfortably in her mistress' bed, thinking that it owned the bed.

Olivia then threw a sharp glare on the bird while fixing the dress. She had already mastered dressing up Felicia so it's no wonder that she can do it even if her eyes are closed, much less getting distracted by an ugly bird.

"Give him something to eat. Like a steak or anything meat." Rachelle said as Olivia took a step after fixing the dress she wore. Perfect, it was the right decision not to kill Olivia, no one is greater than her when it comes to picking fashion and becoming her assistant.

"Right... well then, I'll take my leave, Master," Olivia said, bowed her head and glared once again towards the bird before turning her back and leaving the room. Meanwhile, Rachelle sat on the bed and sighed, feeling comfortable already and laid her body down on the soft mattress.

"That maid of yours kept on glaring at me," Noctua said, complaining about Olivia's rash attitude towards the bird but Rachelle didn't reply as she was too busy getting caught up with exhaustion.

"You're being an asshole towards her, get over it." She even commented while yawning, staring at the ceiling of her bed, slowly drifting herself into sleep.
