Hello! Name's Anxiety, and as my name states, I am anxious.
I haven't posted anything in years, so I'm pretty nervous!
I've recently gotten back into the Sonic fandom, thanks to the second movie, so please excuse me if anyone's OOC.
I've watched much of the Sonic Boom show, but I'm still missing some of the second season.
This won't follow any episodes, but rather, be its own thing.
I've never written an X Reader story before, so again, please forgive me if I'm doing something wrong ^^;

Your head hurt like crazy.

You weren't really sure why, though...

Everything was black, but you could hear voices talking. About you, maybe?

"Doc, is she going to be alright?" Asked one voice, one you didn't recognise.

It was male and sounded rather youthful.

You didn't recognise the second voice either.

"She took quite the hit. Only time will tell." Said who you assumed to be 'doc', sounding... worried, maybe?

You weren't sure.

"You ought to be more careful." Scolded the same voice, and even with your eyes closed, you could tell the atmosphere was awkward.

"Mmh..." You managed to moan, which earned the attention of everyone currently in the room.

"She's awake!" Said a female voice, and you heard several footsteps approach you.

It honestly made you a bit anxious.

But why?

Your eyes fluttered open, slowly but surely, and at first, everyone was just a... blob.

Blue, red, yellow, pink, brown.

Blue was smaller than red, which was bigger than yellow, which was smaller than pink, and that appeared to be around the same size as brown.

Ugh, too bright...

Your eyes closed, and you did your damndest to focus once they opened again.

Gradually, the blobs became actual shapes.

"Hey, you okay?" Asked blue, appearing worried.

You weren't sure how to answer that.

"Ugh..." You groaned out, closing your eyes from the brightness of the room.

Lifting an arm to your head, you rubbed your face, which seemed to help your headache, given it blocked out the bright light.

"I... I think so." You said in a quiet voice as you slowly began sitting yourself up.

"Where am I...?" You questioned, gazing around the room.

This wasn't familiar at all...

"You're at the Team Sonic house." Said the voice you assumed to be blue, though you didn't have your eyes on him.

Rather than looking at him, you scanned the room.

Yeah... this wasn't familiar at all.

"Team Knuckles house!" Said an unfamiliar voice, causing you to turn towards the source.

Red.

"Knuckles, this is literally my house. You don't even live here." Red, whom you expertly deducted to be Knuckles, seemed to process what blue had said, and he spoke shortly thereafter.

"Oh, right." You looked down to your gloved hands, blinked, then looked back up.

"Who... are you?" They looked to each other, as if not really understand what you were asking.

Surely you'd heard of them?

How hard did you hit your head?

"Name's Sonic. This guy here's Knuckles." Said blue, or rather, Sonic, and pointed to Knuckles, who waved.

"I'm Tails!" Said yellow, properly known as Tails, before pink spoke.

"I'm Amy! This is Sticks." She said, pointing to brown.

"What's your name?" Asked Tails, a smile on his lips.

They all seemed friendly enough, though you couldn't shake the feeling that you shouldn't be there...

Still, the least you could do was answer his question.

"I'm-..." Wait... what was your name?

You paused, racking your brain to try to remember.

Alas, nothing.

"I don't know." Knuckles was the first to speak, appearing confused, but friendly.

"That's a strange name, Idontknow." He didn't appear that bright, but his heart was there.

"No, she means she doesn't remember, knucklehead." Said Sonic, and you cocked your head in confusion.

Why couldn't you remember your own name?

"This looks like amnesia." Said a sixth voice. You recognised it to be the one that had scolded them earlier.

"But I'd need to run some more tests to be entirely sure." You stared at your hands again.

Why were you so anxious?

The tests really just consisted of several questions, such as your age, your name, your past.

All of which you couldn't answer, and you were diagnosed with retrograde amnesia.

You could form new memories, but your past had largely been 'locked' away. Your eyes were locked on your hands as you sat on the couch you'd woken up on, and you could faintly hear the group of five talking.

"Guys, I feel kind of responsible for what happened." Said Tails, sounding rather ashamed of what had happened.

"It's really Eggman's fault. But... you're kinda right." Replied Sonic.

You heard the snapping of fingers, causing you to look up at the group, and Amy spoke up.

"Why don't we let her live with us? At least until her memory comes back. It's the least we can do." The others nodded in agreement.

Well... most.

Brown (or perhaps orange?), whom you should probably refer to as Sticks, seemed suspicious.

Burden...

You shook your head, trying to get rid of the thought.

"Hey, you okay?" Sonic's voice brought you back to reality, and you looked up at him, forcing a smile.

"Y-yeah. I'm fine." You lied.

You hated lying, but why?

"Since we're kind of responsible for this, why don't you live with us? Or rather, me." Said Amy, smiling warmly to you.

You paused, thinking of the many ways you could decline.

The nagging thought that you really shouldn't be there stayed put.

Always be polite.

"I'm sorry. I wouldn't want to be a..." Burden.

"Nuisance." You said with a smile.

"Don't worry about it. You won't be, really! Besides... we can't just let an amnesiac wander around without any idea of where to go." Amy insisted, and you found it harder to say no.

"I... guess." You said without thinking, before she took a hold of your hands, her smile bright.

"That's settled then!" Wait, wait. You hadn't agreed-

"You'll be living with me, then!" Ah... what had fate gotten you into?
